We had exceptional experiences with Travelia Safari during the stays in Madagascar! Everything is great- the itinerary arrangement , hotel/food/transportation planning, and fantastic tour guides we have met ( Jose and Tovo are probably the best Malagacy tour guide you may get :)) had made this trip unforgettable! Strongly recommend to you if you want to have a great experience in Madagascar!
- by Qing Ji (Jocelyn)During this trip, Kenya Airways changed my flight and my luggage was lost for 6 days. I would like to thank the company for actively helping me deal with it. The itinerary was perfect. When I wanted to add an extra itinerary, the company also actively helped me deal with it and gave me a reasonable price.

The travel times are not correct. You should always add plus 25%, then it's fine. Otherwise everything was as described. I had a good guide, group and time.
- by Lydia SieversI enjoyed the tour. Tour guide could have done a better job in terms of communication and time management.

Overall the tour was great--especially the guides. The biggest problem involves pre-tour information. Several hotels have limited electricity. This caused an expensive problem for us as one traveler was dependent on a c-pap machine at night. Had she known about the electricity problems in advance she could have purchased a battery pack for her machine that would have been less expensive than the $300 it cost to keep electricity for 3 nights. Advice about dealing with the dust during the grueling car trip on dirt roads would have been helpful and probably would have prevented the pneumonia I developed at the end of the trip. Simple advice to consider wearing a mask on those trips, especially if one has any respiratory problems could have helped avoid coming home to a week in the hospital.
- by Stephanie MaloneyTouring Madagascar with Agate Travel was an absolutely incredible adventure, especially as a big nature lover and lemur fan! Our guides were fantastic and greatly enriched our understanding of Madagascar’s beautiful environment, people, and culture in a way that greatly exceeded expectations. The flight, accommodation, and transport inclusions also made for a really seamless experience so we could just focus on having fun. We can’t wait to work with Agate again on our next Madagascar trip!

Across Africa was nothing but a disappointment, i booked e paid well in advance my entire tour and i end up getting the cheapest hotels because the booked the last minute, never again with them.
- by Marco AntoniniWe saw more wildlife than we imagined was possible. Our guide Roberto took wonderful care of us, and our driver Telly was great as well. The local park guides were really knowledgeable and helpful. It was a bucket list trip for us and we came away amazed.

I had an amazing trip! I saw some beautiful fauna and flora, met very nice people, ate delicious food, I had an amazing time! But one thing that I would like to address is that I thought that I was going to travel with a group. I booked this trip because I thought it to be a group trip which I was looking forward to because I traveled alone, but when I arrived at the airport in Antananarivo it turned out that there was no group so I was all alone… The advertising/ website was a little misleading, that’s why I thought it to be in a group. Maybe just let the people who book the trip know, so that you’re prepared for this when you leave for the trip. It was very disappointing to find this out when I arrived. Other than this situation, I had a very nice time!
- by Matice MoensPerfectly organised and always on time! Great experience through and through. Perfect for seeing as much of central madagascar if time is limited.

It was 2 days of travel, 1 at each end so the activities were for 3 days. The first hotel for 2 night was very basic and unkempt. The kayaking on day 2 was fun and we then spent the rest of the day on the beach. Picnic lunch was a small baguette, nothing else to eat and no drinks so we ended up buying additional lunch. The next 2 hotels and lunches were better. The massages on the itinerary are not included. The excursions are good and all the staff were lovely. Overall the trip was good but very basic and when you look at the price of travel, hotels, food etc around Madagascar the price of the Tourradar trip is very expensive.

Very unfortunate, the very last (5-day) part of our journey was cancelled due to the cancellation of all ferries to Ste Marie because of bad weather. We had to return back to Tana along the same route we had been just to be on the safe side that we would not miss the flight home. The lost is all on us. It’s nobody’s faults but we thought H.T. should have a plan B in such cases as an alternative. H.T. had been attentive to details and we were rest assured that we won’t be left alone; they were always there. We had mostly what we wanted to experience and took good pictures. Due to above incident, H.T. will check if they get refund from airline (hotels are all paid for in advance) and will let us know.

Trip of a lifetime! Madagascar is an amazing destination with incredible wildlife. Be ready for long days of driving (download lots of audio books & podcasts). Bruno and the drivers kept us safe and everything went really smooth.

The country is a must visit! The people were friendly and the food was great. The tour guides were very helpful. We had an amazing experience!
- by Léa Mercier24-day private tour from Tulear to Morondava to Nosy Be. This tour was provided by Bio D Island. We provided them with our dates and regions of interest, and they arranged our itinerary, airport pickup/drop-offs, drivers, hotels, national park and private reserve visits, and local guides. We arranged our flights into/out of Madagascar and a few flights in Madagascar during the tour. Before the tour, we were able to communicate directly with Bio D Island staff to make minor changes, gain some confidence in the tour operator, and confirm the arrangements including payment, receipts and documents, a good experience overall. We have recommended to Bio D Island that the include an option for credit card payments in the future. In early April, we flew into Antananarivo airport from La Reunion and were met by the tour operator and their driver who would spend the next 14 days with us. They helped us get a mobile SIM card and cash from the ATM, then drove us to our hotel. Their english skills were good which allowed us to ask many questions. They always arranged English speakers for us during the trip. And if you spoke French, that'll usually helped to close any language gaps. Of course knowing Malagasy will take you far and we were taught some basic Malagasy during the trip. Our customised 24-day tour started in Antananarivo. Then we flew to Tulear and visited reserves and parks from Ifaty, Ranohira, Fianarantsoa, Ranomafana, Antsirabe to Morondava. From there, we flew to Diego Suarez (stopover in Tana) to visit reserves and parks from Diego Suarez to Red Tsingy to Ankify and then a boat ride to Nosy Be. We used the local airline to move to new regions to shorten the transition time. Our driver and guide on the first leg (Tulear to Morondava) and the second leg (Diego Suarez to Ankify) were noticeably experienced and knowledgeable of their regions. We rode in 4-wheel drive SUV with air conditioning both times. We never had an issue with the vehicle even though the terrain and roads could be difficult and slow going at times. For the national highways that we travelled, they were obviously important for commerce and the people, but poorly maintained by the government. Much discussion about how the government works. Makes you appreciative of the well-maintained roads by our government. Loved the Madagascar national parks and their certified park guides. The guides were all knowledgeable for each specific park we visited and their training was apparent and much appreciated. We usually had a local guide and a spotter who would run ahead and find interesting animals/insects/reptiles for us. The cost of guides and park fees were always covered by Bio D Island and the driver would manage these transactions. So we would get to enjoy the park and interactions with the guide. We always provided the drivers and guides with a cash tip for their service. It's winter time in Australia, and I'm missing the warmth of Madagascar. The tropical beaches were up to 32 degC and humid. Our accommodations were always comfortable with fans and mosquito nets, bottled water, and the windows allowed a breeze to pass through. As we moved toward the mountains, the higher elevation was cooler and pleasant. All of our accommodations were comfortable, some more memorable than others. We enjoyed La Bella Donna in Ifaty, Relais Thermal in Ranomafana, Ankara Lodge in Red Tsingy, and Anjiamarango in Nosy Be. Overall an excellent 24-day tour arranged by Bio D Island. It was a trouble free adventure and a humbling experience to interact with the Malagasy people, to see their villages and towns amid the beautiful landscapes, and learn about Madagascar history and culture. We'd like to return in July and visit the east coast of Madagascar next time.

Our guide Heri was excellent. Kind, caring, well spoken
- by gloria schurmanThe wildlife viewing was well organised with friendly local guides who knew their parks and animals very well. We saw a long list of different animals and birds, including many types of lemur. However, it was also the beautiful landscapes of Madagascar which were so worth seeing as well, including the most scenic crater lake I have ever visited. The people of the towns and villages were very wellcoming and we were often entertained along the way. The beach stop at Anakao near the end was delightful after all the very busy days.

Really interesting tour of Madagascar’s north east region. Amazing countryside, beautiful vistas, interesting villages, and of course the lemurs. Madagascar in general lacks solid infrastructure so getting to the areas of most interest is a journey. If you’re prone to motion sickness via winding and bumpy car rides, this is NOT for you. For other adventurers, it’s worth it! The only recommendations I have are more of a focus on local “reserves” that practice ecotourism. Seeing chameleons in cages isn’t my idea of ecotourism. That’s technically a zoo, Additionally, if the tour group is not really going to stay at the Palmarium, which is a WAY better option considering the lemurs living on the property, as well as the cool hiking trails throughout the property’s rainforest, then don’t bother mentioning it in the itinerary. It doesn’t even compare to the Bush House. That was disappointing. I will say how awesome the tour providers were when my luggage was stuck in Joburg. They sent it along with another tour group and I got it delivered in two days! They continually kept me posted as best they could considering my lack of mobile phone access in a foreign country. Phewwww! All in all, an amazing adventure that I will never forget!
- by Amanda ColeItinerary was good, which is one reason I had booked this tour. Transportation: Given the state of the roads, I recommend that World Expeditions invest in some four wheel drive vehicles. We were on the road about 11 hrs on day 6. That included a stop for lunch. But I had to beg to get a rest stop... Technically we should have gotten dinner that day, as well, since we were on the road for so long... Accomodations: Belvedere Hotel was adequate for an overnight stay. Grace Lodge, was ok. Palmarium Beach Lodge was exceptional. Thank you for that. Meals: None of the meals were very memorable. Note: A continental breakfast is inadequate on mornings when a long hike is scheduled. Service at the Grace Lodge was exceptionally slow. However, meals at the Palmarium Beach Lodge were very good, tasty and well presented. The last lunch stop (Day 6) was pretty good, as well. Guide: While Wilson was a very nice guy, he was more driver than guide. He did not have enough background -- nor the language skills -- to provide thorough information. Although the tour is entitled 'Culture & Wildlife of Madagascar' I felt that we got little to no information on culture. All of the local wildlife guides were quite good. I was impressed with their knowledge. And, most were able to communicate well. Would I recommend World Expeditions to a friend? Probably not. Although I like the concept of adventure with a small footprint, I found WE to not be very good communicators.
