Via Francigena Tour Companies

Utracks misrepresented what this trip would be like in terms of views, accessibility to water, villages and etc along the hikes. They promoted you’d hike through some villages, but in reality you hiked 10-15 miles going through no villages with no services. The hikes often had no views or you’d hike along roadways or industrial areas for a portion of every day. Utracks could have been more transparent about the location of the Via Francigena in this section and we would have chosen a different trip. The hotels and food provided were far below average and we left the hike early for this reason. No AC and it was about 85 degrees and humid. Food choices were awful with no accommodation for any food sensitivities which Utracks advertised they can do. We were very disappointed. The app does well to keep you on track, but the written descriptions are inaccurate. For example, day 1 is described as mostly flat but there was 1800 feet of elevation gain. There are no hot springs as indicated in the app, they are closed. Some of the towns that you stay in are very quaint and full of history and some are awful. So do your research. The staff was helpful and organized at first but not very accommodating with problems or refunding for food and services not actually provided as advertised. I’d look at other vendors first. Excellent week, will definitely go again.

Pino and Caroline are wonderful! Their villa in Tuscany was the perfect spot for our family reunion that included two 84 yr old's with compromised mobility, teenagers and young adults. With it's pool, volleyball and soccer field to it's vegetable garden demonstration kitchen and beautiful guest suites, we didn't even have to leave the place. But we did!!! The tours they organized and led were wonderful. They accommodated our older generation and the younger ones were still able to do some walking in the countryside.

This was a fabulous walk, very well researched. The guides, Antonio and Simona chose the best parts for us to walk, enough to make us feel we?d done enough to deserve our delicious meals. The scenery was great, and coming across Simona with her amazing lunches after the morning walk was perfect. We appreciated the local guides we often had for city walks; Simona gave us a great tour of Rome. We stayed at lovely hotels each night including a hot spar resort near Siena. Special surprises included a Puccini concert and a Roman meal. Thanks to Antonio, Simona, Pino, Caroline and Alessandro!
