What people love about Active Tours in Ireland
- 7 Day Ultimate Atlantic Adventure – Small Group Tour
Ireland is a fantastic country, and this tour will really gets you into the beauty of it. A bit of cities, hiking, sailing, walking, cycling, free time, and driving through the gorgeous west side of the country. I specially loved the visit to Inis Mor, riding the bike and exploring the island at your own pace is just wonderful. Sean is a great guide, he was explaining us history and facts as we were moving on, making the group together, caring about us all the time. The bus was very comfortable and perfect for a small group :). The only inconvenience might be the way back to Dublin (I did it when the tour was only 3 days), which was rushing a bit, with not much time on the cliffs of Moher, and a bit tiring the ride back to Dublin, with 3 hours in a bus non-stop (although the bus was very comfy, with WiFi, and sleeping is always an option).
- 10 Day Wild Irish Experience - Small Group Tour
Great tour with a great tour guide. The itinerary was amazing and the west of Ireland is stunning. Sean our guide was really helpful, informative and fun. this trip was a real craic
- Authentic Ireland - Multi-Day - Small Group Tour of Ireland
The tour guides were polite and assisted with any queries or concerns. They were well informed on the areas we visited and kept the party entertained with local lore and history. The tour pace was not hectic but rewarding, while providing great opportunity to view and learn about the areas visited. Scheduled catch up time to do your own thing was well planned. Overall we loved the country and people and the tour allowed us to get a memorable experience of the essence of Ireland. thank you.
What our customers ask about Adventure Tours & Trips in Ireland
When is the best time to go on an Adventure tour in Ireland?
The peak season for Ireland Adventure tours runs from May through September. During these months travelers can take advantage of longer days and relatively mild weather. The Wild Atlantic Way is particularly good during this period with clear conditions for hiking and outdoor activities. May brings wildflowers to Killarney National Park while July and August typically provide the clearest views at the Cliffs of Moher. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "We lucked out with sunny weather and plenty of photo stops... perfect for exploring Ireland's stunning landscapes."
What are the must-see adventure highlights in Ireland?
Ireland's premier adventure spots include the Cliffs of Moher which rise 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. The lakes and mountains of Killarney National Park offer extensive hiking trails while the Kerry Way provides challenging treks through the Iveragh Peninsula. The Wicklow Way takes hikers through rolling countryside known as the "Garden of Ireland." Water enthusiasts can kayak in Kenmare Bay or walk the coastal paths of the Dingle Peninsula. As one TourRadar traveler shared: "The combination of hiking the Cliffs of Moher and staying at the Imperial Hotel Galway was perfect - we got both adventure and comfort. The coastal walks along Dingle Peninsula were absolutely breathtaking."
What type of accommodation can I expect on an Ireland Adventure tour?
Lodging options range from family-run B&Bs to established hotels such as the Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny and Dingle Skellig Hotel. Most places are chosen for their easy access to hiking trails and local attractions. Rooms typically come with private bathrooms WiFi and traditional Irish breakfasts. One TourRadar traveler noted: "The Sneem Hotel was perfectly positioned for our hiking adventures with comfortable rooms and amazing views of the Kerry mountains. The local B&Bs gave us a true taste of Irish hospitality."
How much hiking is typically involved in an Ireland Adventure tour?
Most tours include daily walks of 13-28km (8-17 miles) with elevation changes between 200-600m. The Kerry Way requires about 5-8 hours of walking per day on varied terrain. One TourRadar traveler shared: "Our 8-day Kerry Way adventure averaged 6 hours of hiking daily but our guide at the Killarney National Park made sure to include plenty of rest stops and photo opportunities."
What wildlife might I encounter on an Ireland Adventure tour?
The waters around the Dingle Peninsula often host dolphins while the Cliffs of Moher welcome puffins from April to July. Seals frequently appear near the Skellig Islands and red deer roam the countryside near the Westport Coast Hotel. Various bird species can be spotted throughout these areas. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "We were joined along the way by a pod of dolphins racing with our boat and jumping out of the water all around us!"
How do the self-guided Adventure tours differ from guided ones?
Self-guided adventures on routes like the Wicklow Way and Kerry Way come with comprehensive maps route notes and luggage transfer services between stops including the Sneem Hotel and Killarney lodges. These tours also provide 24/7 emergency support. Guided tours add professional local leaders scheduled activities and group interaction. As one TourRadar traveler shared: "The self-guided Kerry Way tour gave us flexibility while still having all the logistics taken care of - perfect for experienced hikers who want independence."
