"The guide, Josie, was wonderfully knowledgeable and exceptional driver. She kept us not only in the loop all the time, but also used her personal knowledge living in NZ to our advantage throughout the journey. The only drawback that we have seen is the sequence for Mount Cook and Lake Tekapo's planned day is way too consolidated and the accomodation in Lake Tekapo should be changed to a better available option.

Demographics
For couples, our 20-day Pacific tour really hits the sweet spot between luxury and local experiences. Starting in Melbourne, you'll try wines in the Yarra Valley and catch the evening penguin parade on Phillip Island - it's quite something watching these little birds waddle up the beach at sunset. Tasmania brings you face to face with Tasmanian devils and lets you delve into Port Arthur's convict past. Then there's the classic Ghan train journey through the red center, where you'll have dinner under a sky full of stars near Uluru. Up north, you'll spot massive crocs in Kakadu, cruise Darwin's harbor and finally get into the water at the Great Barrier Reef before wrapping up with harborside dining in Sydney.
What makes these longer tours work so well is how they mix guided activities with enough downtime to explore on your own. Our tour directors get lots of praise for handling all the practical stuff while creating those special moments - like finding the perfect quiet spot for a sunset dinner.
Our active Australia tours really click with young travelers looking to mix beach life and social time. The week-long intro tours start in Sydney before heading to Byron Bay, where local surf instructors get you up on waves and morning yoga sessions often come with bonus dolphin sightings. Then it's off to Surfers Paradise for paddleboarding through mangroves and sampling the nightlife. Our travelers tell us they love how these tours help them build confidence and make new friends while picking up skills like surfing.
The mix of planned activities and free time works really well - you're not locked into a rigid schedule. Guides are great at helping arrange extra activities too, whether that's 4WD adventures on Fraser Island, skydiving at Mission Beach or sailing through the Whitsundays. We often hear from travelers who ended up exploring more of Australia with friends they met on tour.
Our three-week New Zealand and Australia tours really work well for senior travelers who want to see it all without rushing. You'll kick off with wine tasting on Waiheke Island near Auckland, then explore the Hobbiton movie set and see the magical glowworm caves at Waitomo. Rotorua offers a deep dive into Maori culture plus New Zealand's biggest geyser, and the Milford Sound cruise shows off some seriously pristine fiords.
Crossing to Australia, there's high tea in Melbourne's Fitzroy Gardens, guided walks through Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden and evening harbor cruises that catch the sunset just right. The finale in Cairns includes a catamaran trip to the Great Barrier Reef - you can snorkel, watch from a semi-submersible or just relax on deck with a good book. Our older travelers particularly like how the local guides know their stuff, the hotels are well chosen and the pace feels just right without any rushed transfers.
