What people love about Kashmir Tours
- In The Land Of Lama - The Great Ladakh Tour
The trip was incredible. Our travel company organised a wonderful trip. All of the guides and pick ups were on time and first class. The food was also very delicious in every city. I would like to go once again with this travel company.
- 07 Days Heavenly Kashmir Tour of India
Our time in Kashmir was unbelievable- it is the most picturesque place in the world. The tour was well organised and ran very smoothly. Our driver, Danish, truly went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, safety, and enjoyment. He was a great and reliable support system for when we were sick, and was supportive in our recovery. He is to be highly commended in his efforts and service. :)
- The Quaint Monasteries & the Eternal Bliss: Leh -Ladakh
I was to do the tour with a driver but no guide (being the only person doing the tour on that date) however Himanshu Maru personally met me at Leh airport and accompanied me for the first 4 days. The tour was excellent and somehow I was always made to feel special. The driver, Nunu was a very careful, safe driver who showed great courtesy to other road users so it was a pleasure to travel with him. I would thoroughly recommend the tour to anyone wanting a short break in Ladakh.
Travel Kashmir your way
Our Ladakh treks take you deep into the Himalayan high country where the views just keep getting better. The Rumbak Valley route puts you right in snow leopard territory during winter months and you'll spend nights camping in villages, getting to know the families who call these mountains home. Another great route goes up and over the Ganda La pass at 4900m before winding down through rocky gorges to find centuries-old monasteries in the Markha Valley. Our customers really love joining the monks for morning prayers at Diskit Monastery and camping out on Nimaling's green meadows at 4200m with massive peaks rising up to 6400m all around. These treks run 8-14 days, with proper time built in at Leh to get used to the altitude before heading up into the real heights.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursKashmir and Ladakh's adventure tours mix high-altitude action with deep cultural connections. You'll drive across Khardung La - the world's highest driveable pass at 18,380 feet and try your hand at rafting where the mighty Zanskar and Indus rivers crash together at Sangam. Our tours typically start with a night or two in traditional Dal Lake houseboats before heading up to Gulmarg for some seriously high cable car rides. Over in the Nubra Valley, you can hop on a Bactrian camel and cross actual sand dunes between ancient Buddhist temples. Our travelers particularly enjoy those quiet early monastery visits and meeting local Baltistani families in places like Turtuk that most tourists never see. We've got the timing down perfectly for altitude adjustment and our guides know exactly when to push on and when to ease back when you're up this high.
See all Active toursKashmir's explorer tours really shine when they mix the big sights with quiet local moments. The most popular trips run 7-8 days, starting with tranquil mornings on Srinagar's Dal Lake where you'll glide past floating markets in a traditional Shikara boat. For a deeper dive into the region, the 11-day tours add Pahalgam to the mix - our travelers love walking through fragrant saffron fields and finding their way to small spots like Baisaran village. The traditional houseboats are a highlight, especially when paired with visits to the precise gardens of Nishat Bagh and also Shalimar Bagh. What makes these routes work so well is the contrast - you start in Old Delhi's busy spice markets before flying up to Kashmir's clear mountain air. Our customers often tell us this shift from city buzz to mountain quiet sets up their journey perfectly. The best routes include time at Yusmarg's meadows and Doodhpathri's alpine landscape, where you can take it slow with optional horse rides. We've found the most satisfying itineraries combine Gulmarg's popular Gondola ride with quieter spots like the Charari Sharief shrine that most tourists miss.

Alkof Holidays runs solid Leh Ladakh tours that our travelers consistently rate well. The itineraries include monastery visits, camel safaris and high-altitude passes through the mountains and valleys. It's worth noting though that some guests mention bumpy stretches along the Changla Pass, and the hotel quality can vary depending on which properties you stay at. TourRadar's "Land of the Lamas" tour got particularly good feedback from Alexander, one of our recent travelers. He appreciated how smoothly everything ran and pointed out the guides really knew their history and culture. The tour hits major sites like the Akshardham Temple in Delhi, then takes you to Agra for both the Taj Mahal and also the Red Fort - all carefully woven into a well-paced schedule. The guides handle the logistics well, which matters a lot in this region where road conditions and accommodation standards can sometimes be unpredictable. They keep groups moving efficiently between destinations while still allowing enough time to properly explore each place.

"I really enjoyed my tour. This is a very remote area with unique culture and nature. I 've been there at the beginning of April before the tourist season starts, so I enjoyed the absence of crowds. However, nights were very cold, some hotels did not have heating, so hot bottles were my best friends. During the day the weather were beautiful, sunny. I enjoyed snow on the passes we crossed. My guide and driver were excellent. People we met at the hotels demonstrated wonderful hospitality. The tour company that organized this travel experience was very good, professional and responded to all my requests. I was feeling so happy during this trip, in peace with nature and the world 😊

"Our guide and driver were excellent. The home stay was the only real disappointment as was not that at all but a bed and breakfast situation. Our room was very poor, the food was good and the staff pleasant but not a home stay where you participate in the food preparation or see how people live in the location.

A week in Kashmir lets you really get to know the region. Many of our guests love starting with two nights on a traditional houseboat, then heading up to Gulmarg where the gondola ride reveals incredible mountain panoramas. The journey continues to Pahalgam's "Valley of Shepherds" - you'll walk through fields where saffron flowers grow and venture into the quiet Aru Valley. Our travelers often tell us they particularly loved Betaab Valley, named for its famous Bollywood connection, where you can take a pony trek to Chandanwari. The tour circles back to Srinagar, giving you proper time to explore the detailed architecture of Mughal Gardens and take a peaceful evening boat ride on Dal Lake as the sun sets behind the mountains.

Demographics
Our solo travel tours through Kashmir and Ladakh focus on making you feel comfortable while discovering the real culture. The Leh tour stands out - our solo guests tell us they really appreciate how we plan the first days around proper altitude adjustment. It's smart to start gently with visits to local monasteries and markets in Leh before heading to higher locations. Another favorite combines Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake; the guides are excellent at connecting travelers with local families in spots where regular tourists don't usually go. For female travelers exploring on their own, we can arrange female guides where needed - it's just part of what we handle for you.
Couples looking for something special in Kashmir and Ladakh tend to love our mix of comfort and exploration. Many start with a few nights on traditional houseboats in Srinagar, taking private boat rides on Dal Lake when the water's calm and peaceful. Our travelers often mention how magical it feels watching the sunrise at Mughal Gardens before anyone else arrives. The journey continues through Ladakh with quiet monastery visits and impressive mountain drives through Kargil's passes. Pangong Lake camping is usually the highlight - you get your own tent by the water and the stargazing is incredible when the lake mirrors the night sky. Some couples choose our longer 10-day option which includes time in Turtuk village; sharing home-cooked meals with local families there creates the kind of moments you just can't plan for.

Best time to visit Kashmir
- Spring 2025
Spring fills Kashmir's valleys with colors - it's when photographers get their best shots and cultural activities pick up. The 8-day routes start at Dal Lake just as the floating markets come back to life. We take people to quieter spots like Yusmarg where the meadows start blooming and Nilnag Lake when the pine forests turn properly green again. Lots of our travelers choose this time for Alchi Monastery; the spring light really shows off those ancient paintings and also the mountain backdrop.

Summer opens everything up in Kashmir and Ladakh. Our most popular tours run 7-11 days, and people tell us they love how the warm weather lets them properly enjoy camping by Pangong Lake and exploring those sand dunes in Nubra Valley. You can go rafting where the Indus meets the Zanskar, take the Gulmarg Gondola up to snowy peaks and ride camels across the high desert near Hunder. - Fall / Autumn 2025
Autumn brings out amazing colors in Kashmir's valleys against Ladakh's stark scenery. The routes mix visits to Srinagar's Mughal Gardens in full fall colors with drives through Kargil when the weather stays stable. Our guests particularly enjoy seeing Pampore's saffron harvest, and the monastery tours in Ladakh work really well - the clear autumn air gives perfect views of the peaks and also the old architecture.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter in Kashmir and Ladakh transforms the landscape with snow, making for really special experiences. The 7-8 day circuits start from Srinagar where Dal Lake takes on a quiet winter character, and those houseboats stay surprisingly cozy even in cold weather. One of our families who came through in December told us they got lucky with sunny days in Leh, though they did need hot water bottles at night. You'll find way fewer people at places like Pangong Lake, Shanti Stupa and also Nubra Valley, which makes the winter routes extra special for monastery visits.
