very nice tour with perfect guide
- Rio de Janeiro & Amazon Rainforest Sustainable Experience
Best trip I could have ever imagined. Accommodations, tour guides, activities were top notch. Everyone made sure we were taken care of, that we were enjoying ourselves, etc. Luciana was above and beyond before our trip, during, and even after. I can't thank her enough along with everyone else on the trip that made everything so special for you. I recommend this to every person out there.

We had some excellent guides, both from G Adventures and from Be A Local. They got us to all the sights and parties in Rio efficiently and safely.

For a tour where animal spotting is a priority, consider booking an adventure to Mata Atlantica (the Atlantic Forest), located on the coast of Brazil. With adventures ranging in length, you're sure to find an experience that suits your travel plans.

See all Northern Brazil toursThe Petrópolis x Teresópolis trek stands out among Brazil's highland trails, with our groups particularly drawn to the granite peaks of Castelos do Açú and Pedra do Sino. The rocky paths lead to wide-open views that stretch across the serra's undulating landscape. Local guides Thallis and Guilherme bring the trails to life with their deep knowledge of native plants, wildlife and also trail conditions. After tackling the steeper sections, hikers can cool off in the natural pools of Véu de Noiva waterfalls - exactly what you need after a good climb. The best hiking window runs from April through October when you'll get clear visibility and pleasant temperatures, though you'll want to start early to catch those first rays of sun hitting the mountaintops.

Looking at both companies, Intrepid Travel tends to deliver solid experiences - their tour leaders know their stuff and the logistics usually run smoothly. But it's worth noting that around New Year's, quite a few travelers have mentioned unexpected schedule shifts. They handle the changes professionally, though it can throw off people's plans. TourRadar's situation is a bit more complicated. Some customers have run into communication hiccups, and there's been confusion about group versus private tours. We've heard from travelers who booked thinking they'd be part of a group, only to find themselves on a private tour instead. It's not necessarily bad, but it's definitely not what everyone wants or expects. The key with both companies seems to be asking lots of questions upfront. With Intrepid, you'll want to confirm holiday season schedules and backup plans. For TourRadar bookings, it's smart to get written confirmation about the exact tour type, group size and what happens if numbers change. Their customer service usually responds well to direct questions, which can help avoid surprises later. The actual tours from both companies are generally good quality - it's just the organization and communication that sometimes need extra attention. Most issues seem to come from assumptions rather than actual service problems, which is why clear communication matters so much.

"I really enjoyed my guide. She was pleasant and sweet. She knew recommendations for us to eat and tours to attend. Accommodating. When I arrived at the first hotel I was told the water was complementary. But when I checked out I had to pay for the one water bottle I drank. Second hotel.. was ok. Third hotel was the worst. If I had any physical limitations I would not have gotten up the hill. I think the accommodations of the third hotel put restrictions with people with disabilities. In conclusion, they only gave me one towel (No toiletries or face towels). I would not recommend this trip for individuals that are not moderately fit or have some disabilities. Overall I had a Great Guide that earn 5 stars

"My friend and I had a great time during our tour. From the time we were picked up from the airport in Buenos Aires and back to the airport in Rio, the prearranged tours were packed with the must-see spots in both cities but the best is the iguazu falls. We saw both sides (Argentina/Brazil) and it was awesome. The tour also has a relaxed schedule that we don’t feel drained at the end of the day. It was great too that there were free days so we had a choice to chill or just roam around the city. The tour company is very responsive to questions prior and during the tour. Thanks team for making our vacation memorable😘

Best places to start your Brazil tour
Rio serves as the main jumping-off point for most Brazil trips, with 49 tours starting there. Manaus is your gateway to 15 different Amazon adventures, while Buenos Aires, Campo Grande and also Salvador handle the rest of our departures. We've found booking about 56 days ahead works well for most dates, but you'll want to move faster during Carnival and New Year's when schedules can shift around. April through June and September through November tend to be sweet spots - good weather and smaller crowds, though the Amazon sees some rain no matter when you visit. Our regular travelers often mix things up by combining a few days in Salvador, with its colonial streets and rich Afro-Brazilian culture, with time exploring either the Amazon or watching wildlife in the Pantanal.
Discover Brazil tours for every budget
If you're keeping an eye on costs, we've got some really practical Amazon and Rio combinations that work well. Our popular 3-day Amazon package puts you right in jungle lodges where you'll fish for piranhas and head out on night walks to spot wildlife. Our customers keep telling us how much they love the bilingual guides and the genuine local cooking. The 7-day Iguazu tours cover both sides of the falls, plus you get time at the Bird Park with its 1,400 native species and also traditional dancing at Rafain Churrascaria. These tours are budget-friendly because they're efficient - you still see Christ the Redeemer, take the Sugarloaf cable car and explore those colorful Selarón Steps, just without extra add-ons.
The luxury Amazon trips really shine, especially when you're cruising the Rio Negro in complete comfort. You'll have private transfers throughout, stay in top jungle lodges and learn from expert naturalists. There's this particularly good option that takes you from Manaus's Opera House to the Meeting of the Waters, where you can watch different-colored rivers running side by side. For Iguazu Falls, our luxury programs include special viewing spots at Devil's Throat, private guides for both sides and excellent 5-star hotels overlooking the falls. Our luxury travelers tell us they really appreciate being able to adjust their daily plans and also getting that personal connection with local communities.

Solo travelers click really well with our Amazon and Rio combinations. The 3-day Amazon programs put you together with other travelers while you learn jungle skills - there's piranha fishing, nighttime caiman spotting and comfortable shared lodges to stay in. Our local guides make group dinners social events where everyone connects. Rio tours work great for solo guests since you've got structure when you need it - Christ the Redeemer visits by day, group samba nights when evening comes. During Carnival, solo travelers tell us they love joining the blocos with their small groups and picking up basic samba moves together.
Couples pick our luxury packages that link Rio, Iguazu and the coast. You'll get private transfers throughout and really nice hotels with views over Guanabara Bay and the falls. Paraty is perfect for two - you can walk cobbled streets that fill with water at high tide and take private boats to beaches where you'll have space to yourselves. Ilha Grande works beautifully for couples with its car-free paths leading to quiet coves. The upscale Amazon stays fit well too - private jungle guides show you around and you'll stay in comfortable lodges right on the river.
Active travelers in their 20s and 30s love our multi-stop routes. They kick off in Rio joining street parties and climbing Morro Dois Irmaos for city views, then hit Ilha Grande to hop between beaches and snorkel in the Blue Lagoon. The Pantanal piece gets great feedback - you'll fish for piranhas, track jaguars on safari drives and paddle canoes through flooded plains. Our younger guests tell us they really click with this mix of actual outdoor activity and social time, from sampling caipirinhas in Rio to sharing stories by the lodge fire in the Amazon.
Senior travelers appreciate our well-paced luxury tours that blend comfort and culture nicely. These routes come with door-to-door service, quality guides and enough time to really take in each spot. Most combine Rio's key sights with both sides of Iguazu Falls, using good paths and viewing areas all the way. Many add time in Salvador to dig into colonial buildings and Afro-Brazilian culture. The Amazon luxury cruises fit perfectly here - you get comfortable cabins, expert naturalists and easy ways to experience the jungle.
Families choose the Rio and Iguazu Falls routes again and again for good reason. Kids get a kick out of spotting toucans and macaws at the Bird Park sanctuary while walking both sides of the falls. Our family groups tell us their little ones can't get enough of getting splashed at Devil's Throat viewpoint, and they love watching performers at the Rafain dance shows each evening. The cable car rides up to Cristo and Sugarloaf are always a hit - they're fun ways up and the viewing platforms give everyone space to move around. Many families appreciate the quiet afternoons at Lagoa do Japonês, where clear blue waters offer a perfect break between activities.

Spring brings ideal weather for exploring outdoors. The Iguazu Falls tours are especially popular now - from the Brazilian side you'll get those wide sweeping views, while the Argentine walkways take you right into the spray and mist. Our customers often tell us how much they enjoyed watching toucans and macaws zooming around the Bird Park's 16-hectare grounds. You won't find the summer crowds at Rio's main sites, making it easy to mix city visits with trips to Petropolis, Sugar Loaf Mountain and other spots. The calm spring waters around Paraty are perfect for boat trips, which our guests particularly enjoy.

The Pantanal's summer rains bring out caimans, capybaras and countless birds, making it a wildlife spotter's paradise. Our combination tours linking the wetlands with both sides of Iguazu Falls are especially popular with nature enthusiasts. The Blue Lagoon day trips are always a highlight - our customers love swimming in the pristine waters between the islands. Winter offers perfect conditions to really see Brazil's diverse landscapes at their best. Lots of our customers combine Rio's cultural spots with Iguazu Falls - you get clear shots at Christ the Redeemer before summer's haze rolls in. Even in winter the carnival spirit stays strong, and you can join local samba clubs or try your hand at Brazilian cooking. The Pantanal wetlands are particularly good for spotting wildlife this time of year since animals cluster around the remaining water pools. Our travelers love starting cool mornings hiking Tijuca Forest's paths and then warming up with rich feijoada stews in neighborhood restaurants.
