I was pretty unhappy with G Adventures at the beginning as I had expressed concerns with my health and wanted to cancel but they wouldn’t refund my money. However, the guide that I had, Andrei, was so incredible. He was so comforting, helpful, kind, and fun. I was so scared going into it but Andrei was so amazing and I truly could not have asked for a better guide. If I could give him a million stars I would.

I'm so grateful for all the wonderful people I met and for the chance to see so many beautiful places in Europe. I will never forget it!! My personal high light was the night we spent in The Italian Lake District. So breathtaking! I highly recommend this trip to anyone hoping to see some truly jaw dropping scenery! You'll be ooing and awwing the entire time!

Getting on that bus from Milan to Munich was the best life decision EVER!! Staying at the camp site with Stoke Travel was mad fun, and on some occasions it was even more fun than going to the actual festival because of the all the insane activities planned by the AMAZING staff. NOTHING beats drinking unlimited beer with awesome human beings from all over the world. For a clueless international student like me, it was super convenient to get to the Stoke campsite and Oktoberfest, and I'm doing it again this year! Facciamo un casino ragazzi!

How can you best travel between Germany and Italy?
Getting between Germany and Italy is actually really straightforward by train especially the high-speed routes that connect the major cities. You can hop on a direct train from Munich to Verona which is super convenient and gives you amazing views along the way. If you're looking to explore the smaller towns there are lots of regional train options that let you see more local life and culture. The Venosta train between Malles and Merano in Italy is a great example of these local routes.
What kind of authentic local food can you find in Germany and Italy?
Munich's got these amazing Weißwurst sausages that you've got to try with sweet mustard at the beer gardens and the Bavarian pretzels from local bakeries are just incredible. When you're in Italy you'll find real Neapolitan pizza in Naples proper pasta dishes in Rome and the most amazing gelato in Florence. Verona's really known for its wines which pair perfectly with local cheeses and meats you can find all these specialties in restaurants and markets throughout both countries. There's this amazing place in Mori called Gelateria Bologna that's famous for their pistachio ice cream.
What natural areas can you visit outside the cities and how do you get to them?
The Black Forest in Germany is absolutely stunning with hiking trails through dense forests you can reach it pretty easily by car or public transport. Over in Italy the Dolomites are just breathtaking they're actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site with incredible peaks and valleys that you can explore using cable cars and mountain railways. Getting to Marmolada in the Dolomites is really cool you take a series of cable cars up. Lake Constance which sits right where Germany Austria and Switzerland meet offers beautiful boat tours and lakeside trails that are easy to get to from nearby towns.
What are some hidden route gems that travelers love taking?
The Romantic Road through Bavaria is this incredible route that takes you through medieval towns and castles it's really special. There's this interesting detour through Liechtenstein between Switzerland and Austria where you can take a city train tour of Vaduz their tiny capital. People really love these routes because they're so picturesque and way less crowded than the usual tourist spots. The "Alpine Escape" tours are great examples taking you through places like Lindau Vaduz and Innsbruck.
Which places are worth visiting but don't get too crowded?
Friedrichshafen's got this fascinating Zeppelin Museum that's perfect if you're into aviation history and it's usually pretty quiet compared to bigger cities. Meersburg sitting right on Lake Constance has Germany's oldest castle where people still live and these wonderful walking tours through historic streets. Up in Cortina d'Ampezzo you'll find great winter sports the Observatory of Helmut Ullrich with amazing views and this really interesting Museum of the Great War in Serauta that tells the story of World War I in the region.
