What people love about Greenland Tours
- Disko Bay (Includes Return Flight Copenhagen - Kangerlussuaq)
The tour was enjoyable and the Ocean Albatros is an outstanding boat! I thought the tour was a little too long for what was offered. It might be possible in future to reduce it to 5 or 6 days as the settlements visited are very small and there is not much to do if you are not a hiker. Perhaps two settlements could be visited in the one day. The lectures/presentations were generally very good but not all were professionally delivered. I had wanted much more information about the history, culture, and politics of Greenland and we could have begun early, say the second day, with the introduction to Greenlandic language and a few important words. Also, a little more attention to solo travellers like myself would have been appreciated. And may I suggest that the entertainment offerings could be updated in terms of the films available and also add a channel for classical music! I did enjoy my trip, my very first expedition cruise, but there is some fine tuning that can be done to make the experience even more enjoyable.
- Wonders of Greenland (from Iceland)
This was an experience of a lifetime. Challenging but very rewarding.
- Amazing Days in Ilulissat - 5 Days
Great experience seeing the colorful houses of these small settlements in Greenland. We also enjoyed seeing whales, glaciers, icebergs, icefjords, and sledge puppies. Visiting with a native Inuit Greenlander in her home was so educational. There we saw narwhal tusks that her brother had given to her after he caught them. We saw all the handcrafted clothing made by her by hand out of sealskin and beads. At the end of that visit, we were able to purchase some of the crafts she had made. Our guide was very helpful at finding vegan food for us, including making the sandwiches herself for our boating days. The only downside was that sometimes neither the guide nor the hotel seemed to know which meals we had already paid for and were expecting to be part of the package. If I hadn't spoken up, we would have paid twice for two dinners at the hotel. But all in all, I highly recommend this tour.
