Top operators in Cyprus
Out of all tour operators working in Cyprus, three names keep coming up from our travelers' reports. Olta Travel and Cyprus Incoming Tour have built solid reputations for showing visitors around the island's main cultural spots and hidden corners. They both run comprehensive programs covering ancient sites, local villages and coastal areas. Just keep in mind they occasionally have some hiccups with hotel arrangements, and it's worth asking if they work with other local operators for certain parts of the trip. If you're keen to explore on foot, Exodus Travels specializes in North Cyprus walking tours that our clients really enjoy. Their guide Ros gets mentioned a lot in feedback - she knows the trails inside out and shares great stories about the region's history. Their itineraries balance well-marked paths with chances to discover lesser-known spots, making sure you see both the main sights and quiet corners of the island. All three companies get good marks for their cultural knowledge and ability to showcase different sides of Cyprus, from ancient ruins to traditional villages and natural areas. The walking tours with Exodus tend to have more consistent feedback, while the other two deliver solid overall experiences despite occasional booking issues.

"The tour is very well organized and thoroughly covered all the landmarks/ cities around Larnaca. The chosen hotel Best Western Plus in Larnaca was very clean, well located, walkable to the Old town and beautiful beaches. Included lunches were variety, excellent and delicious! The tour guide Dimitra who was fluently in English and French did an extraordinary job to guide the group. Dimitra paid attention to details and very caring for the group. As compared to the tour in Turkey (by different Travel company) which followed right after the Cyprus tour by Olta Travel Cyprus/ Tour Radar, the Cyprus tour was exceed beyond our expectation. I’d highly recommend this tour by Olta Travel Cyprus!

Best places to start your Cyprus tour
Larnaca serves as our main jumping-off point with 13 popular tours starting there, while Paphos handles another 3 tour departures. Looking at our booking patterns, you'll want to lock in your spot about 46 days before traveling - that gives you the best shot at getting your preferred dates and guides. Spring and fall draw the most visitors, with our guests loving the nice temperatures and fewer tourist crowds. If you're watching your budget, March or November offer solid value - the weather's still pleasant and prices dip a bit lower. The thing that makes the biggest impact according to our travelers is having a local guide who really knows their stuff, especially when you're exploring the divided parts of the island and discovering those little village spots you won't find in regular tourist guides.
Discover Cyprus tours for every budget
Northern Cyprus has some excellent value walking tours that run for a week and use comfortable 3-star hotels as bases. Our travelers really like how the tours start early, getting the walks done before the heat kicks in. You'll visit three medieval castles including Saint Hilarion with its fantastic sea views and find plenty of chances to cool off at quiet beaches. The walking is moderate - about 4 hours daily with 300-400m of ups and downs. What makes these tours work so well is how they mix hiking with cultural stops: you'll explore Crusader fortresses, check out the Roman ruins at Salamis and also spend time in mountain villages where life moves slower.

Top Cyprus travel itineraries to fit your plans
Our week-long Cyprus tours come in three distinct styles that our travelers really connect with. The private tours start from Larnaca and let you set your own rhythm while exploring the island's best spots. You'll get one-on-one attention at places like Saint Hilarion Castle and have time to taste local wines in the lovely Omodos village. Another popular choice focuses on the coastal areas, dividing time between Larnaca's old quarter and Limassol's mix of historic and modern sights. Our guests particularly love walking the Phinikoudes Promenade and taking dips at quiet, hidden beaches. The third option mixes deep cultural experiences - you'll join in making traditional halloumi cheese and watch mesmerizing Whirling Dervish performances at the historic Bedesten.

See all toursThe 10-day routes really get into Cyprus's diverse landscapes and cultural heritage. German-speaking travelers especially appreciate how these tours combine Nicosia's Byzantine sites with those lovely painted churches tucked away in the Troodos Mountains. Mornings are spent exploring places like Agios Lazaros Church, while afternoons bring you to villages like Kato Drys to learn traditional crafts. What makes these tours special are the genuine local connections - you might help cook meze dishes in someone's home or visit Petros as he weaves traditional baskets in his workshop. The itineraries balance cultural visits with nature walks on trails like Kalidonia and also peaceful stops at natural wonders like Aphrodite's Rock.

Northern Cyprus walking tours work really well if you're traveling solo - the 7-8 day routes mix cultural visits with good moderate hiking. Our customers tell us they like the social side of small groups (usually 6-11 people) which makes shared meals feel relaxed and natural. You'll start early to beat the heat, covering 4-5 hour routes that combine coastal paths, mountain tracks and also forest trails. Solo travelers often mention how much they enjoy having evenings free to wander around Kyrenia harbor or take optional trips to see Famagusta's medieval walls and abandoned district. The guides are great at bringing everyone together, setting up group dinners at local spots and making sure nobody feels left out.
Cyprus offers loads of variety for couples, from history-rich tours to active trips. Many choose northern routes that blend castle visits and harbor towns with quiet beaches and also mountain villages. The accommodation hits the mark - couples particularly enjoy having sea-view balconies in Kyrenia or Larnaca. Some pairs go for more active options combining 4x4 rides in the Akamas Peninsula with Blue Lagoon swims and walks to hidden coves. What makes these tours work so well for couples is the mix of guided visits during the day with free evenings to try local restaurants, explore old town lanes and also relax at harbor cafes watching the sunset.
Travelers in their 20s and 30s tend to book our mixed-activity Cyprus tours for their variety. Your day might start on a scooter through Paphos's old quarter, pause for fresh lemonade at a mountain grove, then follow forest paths to waterfalls before cooling off at secluded beaches. The 4x4 trips through Akamas really deliver - you'll navigate dirt tracks to reach turtle nesting sites and take boats to clear water swimming spots. Our younger guests like how these tours combine outdoor activities with cultural elements like Crusader castle visits, local wine tastings and also time in traditional mountain villages.
Our northern Cyprus heritage tours consistently get high marks from senior travelers who value the well-planned pace and cultural depth. These 7-8 day tours typically keep you based in good hotels in Larnaca or Kyrenia, which means less unpacking and repacking. The walks are selected carefully - mainly gentle routes through pine woods and along coastal paths, with optional harder sections if you're feeling energetic. Older guests often mention how much they appreciate the guides' knowledge about Cyprus's complex past while visiting Orthodox monasteries, Gothic abbeys, Roman sites and also traditional mountain communities. You'll get proper time at each location, never feeling rushed and with plenty of shade breaks during summer months.

Best time to visit Cyprus
- Spring 2025
Cyprus walking tours really shine in spring when the weather's perfect for mountain trails. Our travelers love heading up north in April and May - that's when you'll catch wildflowers and orchids along the paths near Kantara Castle and Saint Hilarion. You get a nice mix of history and nature, with medieval monasteries hidden in the mountains and quiet beaches near Kaplica for a cooling dip. The mountain tours typically run for 7 days with about 4 hours of walking each day, and the guides are clever about timing the routes to catch the morning light on old ruins. Spring's also ideal for village-based tours - you can watch local cheese-making, see the women of Lefkara working on their famous lace and enjoy the countryside in full bloom.

- Summer 2025
Summer tours here work best with smart planning and plenty of cool-down stops. We start early to explore Crusader castles and ancient sites before the heat kicks in, then head up to mountain villages where it stays comfortable. Our groups really like how we mix things up - maybe a morning walk through pine forests spotting Byzantine churches, followed by an afternoon swim in the Blue Lagoon's clear waters. The beach and culture combination proves popular; you might spend your morning walking through Salamis's Roman ruins, then cool off at secluded coves, or check out Kyrenia's medieval harbor before visiting quiet beaches where turtles nest.
