Touring the Pyrenees Reviews
- Andorra Ski & Apres
Tess was an outstanding guide who made the entire experience both unique and unforgettable. Everything was handled effortlessly, ensuring there was never a dull moment. The holiday flowed smoothly, and from the very start, Tess made sure everyone felt comfortable, and was always ready to help if needed. I would absolutely love to have Tess as a guide again!
- Andorra Ski & Apres
The whole trip was well organised and the accommodation was great. The buffet at the hotel always had lots of good options. The Après was amazing every night. Tess was the best tour guide we could have asked for and make the tour the best it could’ve possibly been. She was always positive, friendly and making sure everyone was happy.
- Andorra Ski & Apres
I had the absolute pleasure of having Tess Meijer as my guide on my recent ski trip, and I cannot recommend her highly enough! She was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the slopes and the area but also had a fantastic ability to make everyone feel comfortable and confident, no matter their skill level. Her passion for skiing and the outdoors was infectious, and she went above and beyond to ensure our group had an unforgettable experience. Whether it was giving expert tips to improve our technique, finding the best routes to match our abilities, or sharing fun and interesting facts about the region, she made every moment memorable. Her patience and positivity created a welcoming atmosphere that made learning and enjoying the trip so much easier. If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares about making your trip amazing, Tess is the perfect choice. I can’t wait to book another adventure with her!
Travel Pyrenees your way
We take great pride in our Pyrenean hiking routes - they're a big hit with our travelers. There's this fantastic multi-day trek from St Jean Pied de Port to Logroño that follows old pilgrim trails, winding through medieval villages and also Rioja's lovely wine regions. Over in Andorra, the trails go properly high up into Sorteny Nature Reserve where you'll find 700 different plant species and lovely mountain lakes like Cabana Sorda. Our groups really love the paths around Aigues Tortes National Park - it's great for spotting bearded vultures, and Sant Maurici Lake is something special with those twin Encantats peaks reflecting in the water. The mix of tough walks and cultural discoveries works really well; you might spend your morning climbing up to Collada Fonda at 2,350m, then explore ancient Roman churches like Sant Joan de Caselles in the afternoon.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursThe Pyrenees cycling scene is particularly good around Costa Brava, where you can pedal through old medieval towns and switch between coastal roads and inland Emporda paths. One of our most clever tours uses chalk marks on the route so you can just focus on riding instead of checking maps, and there's another that brings electric bikes into play for those steeper mountain sections. Girona's become quite the cycling hub - it's where the pros train - and you can ride the car-free Carrilet path before stopping at local wineries. If you're up for a proper challenge, the Cap de Creus routes dish up some serious climbs, but those coastal views make it worth every pedal stroke.
See all Bicycle toursExplore a wide diversity of coach / bus tours through Pyrenees. We have 5 adventures that vary from 3 days to 10 days. With the greatest number of departures in September, this is also the most popular time of the year.
See all Coach / Bus toursThe Pyrenees offer some really solid active tours that mix up different outdoor activities. You can hop on a raft down the Noguera River and then tackle the technical bits of Estaron Canyon - we've seen lots of parents light up watching their kids master new skills there. Up at Sant Maurici Lake, our travelers keep telling us how the hiking routes hit just the right balance of challenge and scenery. Around Sort, you can mix it up with kayaking and abseiling if you want variety, or go for some serious water action with hydrospeeding and climbing. There's also this neat tour that combines Catalan cooking with daily doses of mountain biking and river activities.

Explore really shines for people heading out solo - our travelers consistently mention how the guides make everyone feel included while keeping the whole group on track. The itineraries hit a sweet spot between structure and flexibility, so you can join group activities, head off on your own or just relax at the hotel. It's particularly good for first-time solo travelers who want some built-in companionship without feeling stuck in a rigid schedule. ExperiencePlus nails the cycling tour format with clever touches that make a big difference on the road. Their arrow marking system means you can pedal at your own pace without constantly checking maps, and they've clearly put thought into picking routes that connect you with local life. The guides know when to offer support and when to let riders explore independently. We've had some issues reported with Stoke Travel's Andorra Snow Weekend though, specifically around how they handle unexpected problems. Several customers told us they struggled to get clear answers about refunds when weather caused cancellations, and the communication could definitely be better when plans need to change. While the actual snow experience might be fine, their customer service needs work, especially compared to how smoothly Explore and ExperiencePlus manage similar situations.

Top Pyrenees travel itineraries to fit your plans
For short Pyrenees trips, our 3-day packages really pack in the good stuff. The Pamplona tours put you right in the San Fermin festival buzz - you get unlimited drinks at camp, join massive street parties and watch fireworks light up the night sky. Over in Catalonia, three days gives you time to wander Girona's medieval lanes, check out Dali's hometown in Figueres and visit the impressive Montserrat Abbey sitting high up in those distinctive rock formations. Surf fans love our San Sebastian packages that mix daily surf lessons with yoga and locally-sourced meals. The hilltop sunset spots are a highlight, and our local guides know just where to take you for authentic Basque cider house experiences.
TourRadar recommends visiting:
Zarautz, San Sebastian
A week in the Pyrenees lets you properly settle into the local groove. Our Basque Country routes from Bilbao blend culture and food really nicely - travelers tell us they love trying pintxos in the fishing village of Bermeo and touring Rioja's vineyards. Cyclists can ride from Girona to Costa Brava on quiet roads like the Carrilet trail, stopping at wineries near Palamos and exploring pretty medieval towns like Begur and Pals. The Andorra ski packages give you 5 full days on the slopes plus fun aprés-ski and fancy dress days, though some guests say they'd like the daily schedules a bit earlier.
TourRadar recommends visiting:
Perpignan, Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse, Puivert, Foix
Ten days really opens up what you can discover here. Our small Spanish group tours include art historians showing you around Madrid's Prado Museum and local experts leading walks through Segovia's old streets. Barcelona gives you proper time with Gaudi's architecture before heading to San Sebastian for seriously good food. Active types enjoy our surf houses near San Sebastian - 9 nights of surf coaching, daily yoga and guided walks in Pagoeta nature reserve. The Camino tours from St Jean Pied de Port to Logrono show you what pilgrim life is really like - walkers love how it mixes countryside views, old monasteries and even that quirky wine fountain at Irache.
TourRadar recommends visiting:
Soldeu, Ransol, Incles
Demographics
The San Sebastian Surf House just clicks with solo travelers - you'll jump into daily surf lessons and yoga sessions where meeting people happens naturally. The social vibe really works, from sharing meals prepared by our resident chef to gathering with new friends for sunset views from the hilltop. We run regular pintxos tours into San Sebastian's old town, so you're never alone when exploring Basque food culture. The Cortals Valley mountain biking tours attract plenty of solo riders too; there's nothing like tackling challenging trails to bring people together. Over in Sort, we see lots of individual travelers joining our adventure programs - activities like canyoning and hydrospeed tend to turn strangers into friends pretty quickly.
Our younger guests love hitting the slopes in Andorra, where proper skiing meets buzzing aprés-ski spots and good times. The San Sebastian surf programs really deliver - you'll go from total beginner to confident surfer with coaches who know their stuff, plus there's plenty of beer, wine and also sangria for post-surf hangouts. The Pyrenees multi-sport tours pack in proper adventures; you might start your morning dropping into Estaron canyon and finish sharing stories over local wines. Most tours include guided food walks through San Sebastian's old quarter, and groups often end up at local spots like Mojito bar, which our younger travelers rate as their favorite night out.
For families looking to explore the Pyrenees, our most popular tours center around Sort, where kids gain real confidence through guided activities. The Noguera River programs combine whitewater rafting with abseiling - parents tell us watching their children become "fearless and brave" on these trips is incredible. Another excellent option takes you to Sant Maurici Lake, with easy walking routes perfectly suited for ages 8 and up, plus local picnics featuring traditional longaniza sausage and farmhouse goat cheese. The Andorra multi-activity packages work brilliantly with teens, mixing winter sports with summer activities like zip-lining around Engolasters Lake. Our travelers particularly love the spa hotel options in Sort, where families can relax after active days with pool time and optional spa access for teens 14 and up.

Summer brings out the best in Pyrenees multi-activity programs. Our family-focused tour in Sort gets excellent reviews - parents tell us they love watching their kids grow more confident tackling activities like abseiling at Estaron Canyon and rafting the 'washing machine' rapids on Noguera River. The Costa Brava coastal routes mix cycling with swimming stops, while inland tours include picnic lunches with local specialties like longaniza sausage and farmhouse goat cheese. More active travelers pick the programs combining hiking in Aigues Tortes National Park with technical canyoning. One particularly good tour mixes surfing in Zarautz with yoga sessions and chef-prepared meals - it's perfect for solo travelers who want to meet people while staying active.
