What people love about USA Tours
- Alaska Kenai & Denali Adventure
Excellent tour allowing people many options for a activities.
- Alaska Kenai & Denali Adventure
a great tour enhanced with unseasonably good weather the accommodation whilst average, in no way detracted from the great vibe that was created amongst the diverse members of the tour. The tour leader, Julia, was excellent in every aspect - local knowledge, catering for different requirements of the tour members, making sure that all tour members were included at every stage. The only slight negative, is that the tour is described as suitable for people ranging from 12 to 90 years of age Whilst I managed with a bit of difficulty, most of the hikes, I think people should be mad aware that some of the hikes are strenuous - however, alternatives are always available
- Alaska Kenai & Denali Adventure
The tour was planned good. It would be very helpful to have more information about the alternative activities rather then the basic ones.

The American West really shows off its variety through its parks and wild places. Our guests love getting into Yellowstone's geothermal areas with guides Mike and Neil Moore, who bring the whole ecosystem to life with their local knowledge. Red rock country opens up some incredible moments - you'll join Navajo guides in their jeeps through Monument Valley and watch light shift through Antelope Canyon's flowing sandstone passages. Utah's parks are perfect for active exploration, where you can splash through Zion's Narrows, look up at Bryce Canyon's orange rock formations and discover old petroglyphs carved into Capitol Reef's walls. Alaska offers something completely different - our travelers head out with local guides along Turnagain Arm, meet rescued animals at the Conservation Center and cruise right up to massive glaciers in Resurrection Bay. Spring and fall work really well for most visitors since temperatures stay comfortable and you won't bump into as many other tourists. These seasons are great for wildlife too - bears coming out in spring, elk starting their rut in fall. Our photographers tell us they love capturing the warm light and interesting clouds that show up this time of year.
See all Western USA toursThe Sun Belt beckons with warm weather and diverse cultures. Visit Florida's sandy beaches, taste spicy Tex-Mex in Texas, or hike Arizona's majestic Grand Canyon. Immersing yourself in New Orleans' world-famous jazz scene is a must do!
See all Sun Belt toursYou'll want to time your Southwest visit just right to get the most out of places like Monument Valley, where Navajo guides take you right up to those massive sandstone buttes rising from the desert floor. The sweet spot is spring (March to May) or fall (September to November) when the weather stays moderate and you won't bump into the summer tourist crowds. These months are perfect for hiking through spots like The Narrows in Zion - an actual adventure where you wade upstream between towering canyon walls. The light during these seasons creates incredible photo opportunities, especially in Antelope Canyon where sunbeams filter through the narrow passageways and also across the wider desert landscapes.
See all Southwest USA toursThe Rocky Mountains showcase their rugged soul through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Our travelers tell us how Old Faithful's precise eruptions and close encounters with grizzlies, black wolves and roaming bison create lasting memories. Moving southwest, Monument Valley's red sandstone tells a different story of the American West, where Navajo guides share generations of knowledge during jeep tours across their ancestral desert terrain. The curved walls of Antelope Canyon have become a photographer favorite - our groups often spend hours capturing the light beams that filter through the narrow passages. Each season brings its own magic: fall paints aspen groves in pure gold, while spring scatters wildflowers across high meadows. For wildlife viewing, our visitors find the quiet hours around sunrise and sunset reward them with natural glimpses of elk, moose and also bears going about their daily routines.

Our most loved trek explores Utah's five national parks over 9 days, taking you through some incredible spots. You'll walk right up to the hoodoo rock formations in Bryce Canyon, check out ancient rock art in Capitol Reef and get your feet wet in Zion's famous Narrows. The Joint Trail to Chesler Park in Canyonlands is a real highlight - you'll weave through desert terrain and tall sandstone formations that look almost otherworldly. Over in Yosemite, we've got trails that really show off the park's best features. The Mist Trail puts you right next to Vernal and Nevada Falls, while the Four Mile Trail is a good workout leading to fantastic valley views from Sentinel Dome. For something different, our 5-day Alaska program mixes walks to Exit Glacier with some gold panning at the historic Crow Creek Mine. What really sets these hikes apart is our timing - our guides know exactly when to hit the trails for perfect lighting and quieter paths.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursEmbark on an epic USA adventure, from hiking in Colorado's Rocky Mountains to surfing your heart out in California to visiting the East Coast's iconic cities like New York. See all Bicycle toursLooking for a more relaxed way to see the American West? Our coach tours take 12-14 days to wind their way from Los Angeles up to San Francisco, giving you plenty of time to really get to know each stop. You'll start in the buzz of Hollywood, then work your way through the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and finally up to the peaceful trails of Yosemite. The schedule strikes a nice balance - you might spend your morning with a guide around San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, then have free time to check out Alcatraz or hop on the cable cars. Our travelers especially like having an experienced driver handle those long desert stretches and twisted Pacific Coast Highway curves while they just sit back and take in the views.

"I was not well when I commenced this tour but the tour guide cared for me until I improved. Niagara Falls and the beautiful colours of the autumn leaves along the highways were all amazing. Being next to an Amish female on the horse drawn carriage and learning about their lifestyle and family was a definite highlight. Philadelphia had lots of soup kitchens and people lined the streets for miles which was sad. New York City is vibrant and full of people but I prefer the countryside with peace and quiet.

"We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The landscapes were spectacular, lunch was provided in a picturesque spot and our tour guide, Joe, was incredible. He gave us so much background information on everything we were seeing/about to see. I can't think of another guide who was as personable and knowledgeable as he was. Thanks for a wonderful tour!

Best places to start your USA tour
Las Vegas tops our departure city list with 33 travelers starting there, while Anchorage sees 16 departures, Los Angeles gets 12 starts, San Francisco has 8 and also Honolulu rounds it out with 5. You'll want to book about 3.5 months ahead - that's 105 days - to get your pick of dates, especially during the busy spring and fall seasons. Vegas works really well as a starting point since it's got great flight connections and plenty of rental car options. Past guests tell us it's worth adding an extra day there to get over jet lag before heading to the parks. Our photography enthusiasts say to pack those wide-angle lenses - they're perfect for these vast landscapes. And don't skip those golden hours just after sunrise and before sunset when the desert light makes the colors pop.
Discover USA tours for every budget

You'll camp under clear night skies with all equipment provided and guides handling the cooking - meaning you can focus on spotting wildlife in their natural home. The itinerary includes guided walks to Exit Glacier, prime wildlife viewing spots in Denali National Park and kayaking through Prince William Sound. Our travelers tell us they particularly enjoy the fresh salmon dinners and meeting actual Iditarod champions who share stories about dog sledding. What works really well is how we balance scheduled activities with free time, so you can explore at your own rhythm.
For those seeking upscale experiences, our Alaska and Southwest tours stand out. In Alaska, you'll stay at premium lodges right in Denali National Park with direct views of North America's highest peak. Seven days gives you proper time to sink into the Southwest's character. From Las Vegas, you'll wind through Utah and Arizona's finest landscapes, hiking Bryce's hoodoos, joining Navajo guides for jeep tours in Monument Valley and watching the sun transform the Grand Canyon walls. Our travelers love having two nights in Moab - it's just right for properly exploring both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The tour hits sweet spots for active folks wanting solid hikes mixed with cultural experiences, while staying at comfortable lodges right by the park entrances.
Don't miss out on visiting:

See all toursOur 10-day journey from San Francisco to Las Vegas shows off the American West's variety. Starting in San Francisco's urban energy, you'll move through Yosemite's granite landscape, Death Valley's surreal terrain and also Zion's red canyons. With two nights in most stops, the pace lets you really settle in. Our customers particularly value full days in both Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley - early birds catch the rocks glowing orange and red at sunrise. The longer format works for both serious hikers and casual travelers since you pick your activity level each day.

Our 7-day Southwest camping tours hit the right notes for solo travelers, keeping groups small at 14 people. You'll find plenty of independent explorers who want company without feeling crowded. The hiking routes through Zion's Narrows and Bryce Canyon let you naturally drift between walking solo or chatting with others. Our guides handle all the camp setup and cooking while sharing really detailed knowledge about local geology and wildlife. When you're not hiking, you can join the included Navajo-guided tours in Monument Valley or opt for extras like Grand Canyon helicopter flights - it's your call, but you'll always have friendly faces to share meals and campfire stories with at day's end.
The 11-day LA to San Francisco route really clicks with travelers in their 20s and early 30s. You get this great mix of city experiences and outdoor exploration, sleeping in hostels some nights and camping under the stars on others. There's time to catch the sunset at the Grand Canyon, explore Joshua Tree's desert trails and sail under the Golden Gate Bridge. What works well is how you can join group activities or do your own thing in places like Vegas and Yosemite. Our younger travelers love sharing experiences like Monument Valley jeep tours with their new friends, then having the freedom to pick extra activities like canyoneering. The schedule keeps moving but leaves enough space for both organized fun and spontaneous nights out.
Our 7-day Southwest tours really work for senior travelers, combining quality hotels with well-thought-out daily activities. You'll stay in comfortable lodging near the park entrances, with regular rest stops and different hiking options to suit your style. The guides are great at reading the group, offering both easy rim walks and more challenging trails in Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. What our older customers really like is having everything organized while keeping the freedom to choose their daily pace. Between the included Navajo-guided tours in Monument Valley and optional helicopter rides, you can experience these incredible landscapes exactly how you want to.

Best time to visit USA
- Spring 2025
Spring hits the sweet spot in the American Southwest - perfect hiking weather and desert wildflowers popping up everywhere. We head into Zion National Park early, before anyone else shows up, then paddle Lake Powell's clear waters and catch that magical morning light painting Bryce Canyon orange and pink. The 7-day camping tours work really well now - nights are just right for looking at stars and days stay cool enough for proper exploring. The guides have got their timing down perfectly - like getting to Monument Valley exactly when the low sun makes those sandstone towers cast these massive shadows across the sand.

Summer means long days of light, so we start early to dodge the heat and take breaks in nice shady spots. Yosemite really opens up on our Western routes - there's hiking to Mirror Lake, watching wildlife in Tuolumne Meadows and cooling off in the Merced River. Down in the Southwest, we know exactly which Grand Canyon trails have good shade and when to walk the rim. Our campers get some nice extras like swimming pools at the sites and evening barbecues once it cools down. If you'd rather have air conditioning, the hotel tours mix outdoor exploring with cool indoor breaks, plus you can take helicopter rides over the Grand Canyon to see it all from above.

Based on the reviews we've collected, Bindlestiff Tours really delivers on their Southwest National Parks trips. Their guides consistently show deep knowledge of the parks and keep everything running smoothly - it's what our travelers mention most often in their feedback. Intrepid Travel's USA tours tell a more mixed story. While guides like Rene and Judd get enthusiastic mentions for going above and beyond, we've heard from several clients about timing issues on certain routes and some guides who seemed less engaged with the group. For Alaska trips, Infinite Adventures has built quite a following, especially for their Kenai Peninsula routes. The company's guides Natalie, Aaron and also David get frequent praise from our travelers. They're good at adapting plans on the fly and create a welcoming vibe that works well for families. What makes these real adventures is how the guides mix hiking and wildlife spotting with local culture - they'll take you to spots where you might see bears fishing for salmon, then connect you with Alaskan communities off the usual tourist path. The feedback comes directly from people who've been on these trips in the past year, so it gives you a current picture of what to expect from each company. Each has their strong points, but the consistency of positive reviews for Bindlestiff and Infinite Adventures really stands out.

Winter changes everything in the Southwest desert landscapes. Our small groups switch things up when it gets cold - instead of the Zion Narrows, we take scenic walks on the Pa'rus Trail and around Emerald Pools. Early mornings at Bryce Canyon are special in winter, with snow-capped hoodoos catching the first light. We've added some great indoor stops too, like extra time at Mission Santa Barbara and exploring Solvang's Danish village feel. The hotels we use are properly heated and cozy, which matters a lot in the cold months. Our guides are quick to find different viewpoints and backup plans when winter weather affects the usual routes.
