Travel Western USA your way
Our Utah tours really hit the mark for hikers wanting to get deep into the wilderness. The Utah's Mighty 5 spans 9 days across all major national parks, with the Queen's Garden and Navajo Loop combo in Bryce Canyon being a clear favorite among our guests. The guides do a great job reading both weather and group energy to adjust daily walks. Over in Yosemite, our 4-day trip takes you up the Mist Trail where waterfalls thunder nearby and into Tuolumne Grove to walk beneath massive sequoias. Our local guides know exactly when to dodge the busy periods on popular trails and where wildlife tends to show up. The Yosemite Conservancy walk adds real depth, connecting Native American stories to the landscape as you explore.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursOur Western USA tours give active travelers plenty of options. The Golden West packs a lot into 5 days - you'll walk through old Hollywood before heading into Yosemite's wild granite landscape. Desert fans love the LA to Vegas route, especially the time spent in Joshua Tree National Park where you can climb distinctive rock formations and spot wildlife around the signature trees. Up north, our 5-day Alaska trip combining Kenai Fjords and Denali gets great feedback for mixing glacier walks and gold panning with visits to working sled dog kennels. What really works is having flexible days where you pick your own pace - from easy walks to challenging trails and even optional scenic flights.
See all Active toursExplore a wide diversity of bicycle tours through Western USA. We have 27 adventures that vary from 5 days to 16 days. With the greatest number of departures in June, this is also the most popular time of the year.
See all Bicycle toursCoach tours give you a comfortable way to see the best of multiple parks and cities in one go. The routes between Los Angeles and Las Vegas hit all the major Southwest spots people want to see. What works well is how we mix guided tours with free time - so you might spend your morning walking the trails in Joshua Tree National Park, then get an afternoon to check out Palm Springs on your own terms. The California journeys connect busy spots like San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf with natural wonders like Yosemite's massive granite cliffs. Our travelers tell us they really appreciate having structured activities and also enough time to explore on their own.

Looking at these tour operators, Bindlestiff Tours stands out with their guide Khriss, who our travelers consistently mention for going above and beyond - he's organized, knows his stuff and adds those personal touches that make a trip memorable. Brush Buck has some really capable guides too, particularly Mike and Daniel who have an impressive talent for finding wildlife in Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Their vehicle situation needs work though, and some customers have had trouble getting clear info from them before trips. For the Sedona area, Bamba Experience's 3-day tour is a bit hit or miss. While the hotels are good and some groups have smooth, well-organized trips, others tell us the guides weren't as knowledgeable as expected and that some advertised activities didn't match what was actually offered on the ground. Between these options, I'd lean toward Bindlestiff Tours if you want reliability and excellent guiding, or Brush Buck if wildlife spotting is your priority and you don't mind working around some communication gaps. Just keep in mind with Brush Buck you might end up in one of their older vehicles.

"The scenery and the animals were spectacular. The pace of the tour was great. Our tour guide, Cade, gave us enough time at the stops to see the wildlife. He would search until he found animals to see. We were able to see bears, elk, moose, sheep, wolves, prong horns, sheep. It was an amazing trip. Cade is an amazing guide.

"I'm very disappointed with my experience with Trafalgar. It started when I did not receive proper communication for the initial meeting point (no address) in Las Vegas. I did receive the first email only, with no instructions, 3 days before departure. The Travel Director, he failed to include me on the two subsequent emails (with address to meet) that followed with more detail/ information where to meet for the Welcome Reception dinner on the 1st day. I ended up unable to find the group and missed the Reception dinner on my first day. It is lack of organization and communications skills and a lack of consideration (especially for a solo senior traveler) specifically directed at me. I do not know why but he failed all expectations and I’m very disappointed with Trafalgar operation. At the end of trip back to Las Vegas was also delayed by 1hour from the expected time of arrival. I had other shows planned in Las Vegas due to delayed, and I had to miss and lost my money too.

Our 3-day Southwest tours pack a lot into a quick trip through Utah and Arizona's red rock country. Most people start from Las Vegas, heading out to Zion's steep cliffs and Bryce Canyon's distinctive formations. What really sets these tours apart is the Navajo-guided jeep tour through Monument Valley - you'll hear stories and history from people who've called this land home for generations. Our customers often tell us how much they loved watching first light hit Horseshoe Bend and exploring Antelope Canyon's smooth sandstone passages. Couples find their groove on our 3-day Monument Valley and Antelope Canyon tours, which blend active days with comfortable hotel nights. Many pairs love watching the sun set over Monument Valley right from their room at Goulding's Lodge. The 8-day Hawaii island explorer works beautifully for two - you'll snorkel with manta rays, tour coffee plantations, watch for whales and also enjoy local dinners. We've found the mix of guided activities and free time lets couples create their own perfect balance.
Our active Western tours draw young adults looking for outdoor challenges and social connections. The 11-day LA to Bay route creates instant friendships as you travel from California's coast through national parks and into Vegas. Travelers in their 20s and 30s especially enjoy mixing hikes in Joshua Tree and the Grand Canyon with urban exploring in San Francisco and also Las Vegas. The 7-day Wild Western USA follows a similar formula - you'll build bonds over sunset hikes, optional activities and group meals.
Older travelers consistently praise our Yellowstone and Alaska tours for thoughtful pacing and comfort. - Spring 2025
Spring opens prime wildlife watching in Yellowstone and Grand Teton on our 4-day tours. You'll catch bears just out of hibernation, newborn bison calves and lots of returning birds. Our guides know exactly where to position groups in Lamar Valley, Hayden Valley and other prime spots for photos. Down in Utah's red rock country, spring brings perfect hiking weather for exploring Bryce Canyon's rock formations and Zion's riverside paths. The spring melt makes this the ideal time to wade through the Narrows, while desert wildflowers add unexpected color splashes across the landscape.

Summer's long daylight hours let us pack in more activities, especially in Alaska. We use the midnight sun for evening wildlife cruises in Kenai Fjords and extended exploration time in Denali. You'll visit working musk ox farms and meet actual Iditarod champions - it's very hands-on. California tours can mix coastal and mountain experiences; many start at Santa Barbara's missions before heading to Yosemite's waterfalls and granite formations. In Utah, we beat the heat by hiking early mornings and evenings through all five national parks.

- Fall / Autumn 2025
Fall brings incredible changes to Western landscapes. Utah hiking gets even better as riverside cottonwoods turn golden and temperatures drop to perfect levels for tackling the challenging trails in Canyonlands, Arches and other parks. The wildlife watching stays excellent - Yellowstone's elk start their rut, bears prep for winter and migrating birds pass through. Our travelers love how the low autumn sun really brings out the colors in Sedona's rocks and Monument Valley's towers. The stable weather works well for camping trips, and our customers say nothing beats stargazing in clear desert skies from their campsite.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter in the American West is fantastic for desert exploration and California coastal tours. Multi-day trips from Las Vegas wind through Valley of Fire, Monument Valley and also Antelope Canyon, where winter's low sun angles create ideal lighting in the slot canyons. Our travelers often tell us how much they learn from Navajo guides during jeep tours through the red rocks - there's so much cultural history here. Along California's coast, we swap the usual Yosemite segment for time in Monterey's Cannery Row, Carmel's art galleries and drives along Pacific Coast Highway, where winter storms put on quite a show. The mild temperatures make Death Valley hikes comfortable, and you'll see Joshua Tree's desert plants without the intense heat.
