See all Fully Guided toursOur Quebec tours mix French culture with outdoor discovery. The routes include three nights in Quebec City where you really feel the European charm in North America's oldest walled city. You'll walk the narrow streets of Petit-Champlain, visit the grand Château Frontenac and take day trips to Montmorency Falls. Moving into rural Quebec, the routes cover the Charlevoix region, known for its whale watching in the St. Lawrence and artisanal food producers. Our travelers particularly like the small auberges we use - they're family-run spots with excellent local cooking. The fall tours are especially popular when the maple forests turn red, orange and also yellow.

Both Intrepid and Globus come up regularly in our travelers' feedback as solid choices for guided tours. Intrepid tends to shine with guides like Simon, who gets lots of positive comments for reading the group well and adjusting plans when needed. The tours run smoothly, and you can tell their guides really know their material without being too rigid about it. Globus takes a slightly different approach - they're known for really detailed itineraries and nicer hotels, plus their guides Scott and Daniel get mentioned often for keeping things organized while still being fun to travel with. They handle those inevitable travel hiccups without missing a beat. One small note about Globus - some of our travelers mention there can be quite a lot of information to take in during the tours. But most people actually appreciate this, saying it helps them understand everything they're seeing and experiencing. If you're the type who likes to really dig into the history and background of places, you'll probably find this a plus rather than a drawback. Both companies consistently deliver what they promise in different ways - Intrepid with their flexible, group-focused approach and Globus with their well-researched, comprehensive style.

"Our guide was fabulous. I learned a lot from her. The bus we had was very noisy, it shimmied, and was difficult to control the temperature throughout the bus. I would have preferred to have paid more money for the lobster supper and had a more refined dining experience. It was too rushed so all our courses were just piling up on our small table. The chowder tasted like flour and water. Another meal (can’t remember at what stop) our lobster and crab rolls were just on cold hamburger buns. I enjoy a dining experience, but unfortunately that was non-existent.

"The cities we saw were great. I would have enjoyed more time in Montreal and less time in Toronto. I did not like our accommodations in the Sepia Hotel in Quebec City. The room was nice but smelled musty or smoky and the floor was sticky. The shower floor was incredibly slippery and there were no hand rails for safety. Our guide,Marilyn, was great.

Halifax has become the go-to starting point, with 42 of our travelers kicking off their tours there, while Toronto sees 21 departures, Corner Brook handles 12 starts and Montreal and also Quebec City manage 6 and 5 respectively. Our booking data tells us most people lock in their spots about 148 days ahead - that's roughly 5 months before departure. This early planning really matters for these small-group experiences since spaces tend to fill quickly. Our travelers often tell us they love starting in Halifax - its maritime character, rich history and walkable waterfront help them settle into the Atlantic Canada vibe. We're seeing more people opt for fall departures lately; you still get great whale watching but with beautiful fall colors and noticeably fewer tourists around.
