What our customers ask about Camino de Santiago Tours & Trips
What's the Camino de Santiago all about?
The Camino de Santiago is this amazing network of pilgrim routes that wind through Europe and end up at the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral in Galicia Spain. It's actually a UNESCO World Heritage site and pilgrims have been walking to see St. James the Apostle's tomb there since medieval times.
Which Camino routes can I choose from?
There's quite a few routes you can take to Santiago really. The Camino Francés is probably the most popular one starting in France and covering about 780km through northern Spain. Then you've got the Portuguese Way which starts from either Lisbon or Porto with some beautiful landscapes along the way. The Northern Way follows Spain's gorgeous coastline and if you're up for a challenge the Original Way from Oviedo is the oldest route with some pretty tough terrain.
How do I get those pilgrim documents everyone talks about?
Getting your Pilgrim Credential is pretty straightforward you can pick one up from Camino societies churches or where you start walking. You'll want to collect stamps as you go from places like albergues churches and cafes. Once you make it to Santiago and you've walked at least 100km just head to the Pilgrim's Office with your stamped credential. They'll give you this really cool Compostela certificate that shows exactly how far you've walked like 779.5km if you did the French Way.
