What people love about Pacific Northwest Tours
- 7 Day Vancouver Island Camping Adventure
Did the Vancouver Island tour with my wife an loved every minute of it. My wife was 4 months pregnant and taking an adventure tour was something we were nervous about. Thanks to Alex and the Fresh Adventures team we had no reason to worry and were kept in good hands the whole time. We loved the marine excursions and seeing the whole Island in one go. We actually live in BC, but havent done much exploring on the Island so this tour made things really easy. Camping was much more comfortable than I expected. My only advice is to bring a sweater. I forgot mine and there were one or two moments when I could have used it. The campfire kept me warm, and luckily the weather was great too. It was sunny almost the whole time, which surprised us, because we heard that Vancouver Island is rainy. All in all great tour and a great place to explore!
- British Columbia Ski Tour 11 Days
Amazing tour and amazing people. Great conditions and the terrain was exactly what I was hoping for with plenty of challenge and lots of tree skiing. Alex was the super guide with all the local knowledge and even took us to secret hot springs and all the best runs at each mountain. Looking forward to my next tour with Fresh Adventures.
- Vancouver Island Premium Tour
Tofino was fantastic ! Vancouver Island is very wild and I really enjoyed the surf lessons !
Travel Pacific Northwest your way
The Olympic and Vancouver Island trails really deliver for hikers of all levels. Our travelers tell us they love how the routes mix coastal and mountain paths, from easy forest walks to proper summit climbs. Olympic National Park tours take you through Hurricane Ridge's alpine meadows and into the Hoh Rainforest with its thick moss-covered trees. Over on Vancouver Island, you can hike the remote Juan de Fuca trail and walk among the giants in Cathedral Grove's old-growth forest. Small groups make it easier to spot bears, eagles and even whales along the coast during multi-day trips that often include camping under massive trees. For those seeking quiet spots, the Enchanted Valley trek lets you wake up to mountain views after following the Quinault River through lush rainforest.
The coach tours do a great job covering North Cascades, Olympic and Mount Rainier National Parks. Starting from Seattle's Pike Place Market, these routes take you deep into the wilderness. Our customers really like how everything's organized - you can focus on hiking the Skyline Trail or visiting Hurricane Ridge while the logistics are handled for you. The drivers know these mountain roads well and share lots of interesting details about the landscape, wildlife and local history as you travel.
Vancouver Island gives you a fantastic mix of wild Pacific nature and comfortable places to stay. Our travelers love getting out to Butchart Gardens, taking ferries through the Gulf Islands and walking the Wild Pacific Trail with local guides who know where to spot whales, eagles and bears. If you're into surfing, some tours head to Tofino where you can try catching waves, while others focus on the hiking trails near Campbell River. What works really well is how these tours mix guided activities with free time - maybe join a morning hike then spend your afternoon checking out Victoria's Inner Harbor or relaxing on Long Beach.
Select from our extensive range of 77 fully guided tours to enjoy a worry-free experience through Pacific Northwest with our expert guides leading the way.

G Adventures runs solid tours that give you good bang for your buck - most travelers we've worked with really like how well they organize everything. The food can be hit or miss though, based on what we hear from different groups. If you're into paddling, Timberwolf's kayaking trips are fantastic and their camping setups are top notch. Just keep in mind these aren't lazy river floats - you'll need to be ready for some real physical work out there on the water and trails. Fresh Adventures has built quite a following thanks to their guide Alex Ross. Their ski trips are pretty hardcore with deep powder runs and backcountry routes, plus they mix in some really nice touches like soaking in hot springs and properly good meals. That said, if you're new to skiing, you might want to look elsewhere - one of our clients found the runs pretty intimidating as a beginner.

The west coast tours mix camping beneath towering trees with active experiences like paddling Cowichan Bay's waters and climbing the Stawamus Chief trail. Our guides tailor each day's activities to match group interests, perhaps starting with a mountain lake hike, then transitioning to afternoon whale watching from Tofino. These multi-day journeys blend wilderness camping with waterfront lodge stays, while stops at Victoria's Inner Harbor and Duncan's totem poles add cultural depth to the outdoor experience. The small group format consistently leads to better wildlife sightings and lasting connections between travelers, especially during those shared meals around evening campfires.

Looking for a quick escape? The Olympic Inn Based Tour packs in some excellent hiking at Hurricane Ridge and along Shi Shi Beach's Pacific coast, then lets you rest up at Lake Crescent Lodge each night. Our guides cook up really good trail meals that our travelers talk about long after the tour. For something more challenging, the Seven Lakes Basin trek takes you up some serious elevation to Heart Lake and Sol Duc Park. Over in BC, we've got a Vancouver Cultural Tour that flows nicely between city and nature - from the aquarium through Stanley Park and out to Capilano Bridge. These 3-day tours manage to fit in both wild spaces and cultural spots without feeling like you're rushing around.
When you've got a week to play with, you can really get to know the region. Many travelers go for our Vancouver Island combo tour where you'll paddle Clayoquot Sound in double kayaks, set up camp on Vargas Island and walk through the old-growth forests in Pacific Rim National Park. Ten days lets you settle in and really explore. The Vancouver Island Explorer takes its time, moving from Victoria's Inner Harbor through whale watching at Tofino and also hiking in Strathcona Park. For something different, the West Chilcotin tour heads into BC's quiet interior, with stays at guest ranches, float plane rides to Hunlen Falls and gentle river floats where you can watch grizzlies fish. You'll also get proper time with First Nations communities, learning about their traditions and visiting cultural sites.
Demographics
The 8-day camping tours around Vancouver Island work really well for solo travelers. Our guests often mention making quick friends while tackling the Stawamus Chief trail or paddling kayaks in Cowichan Bay. Everyone shares meals around the campfire and joins group activities like whale watching, but there's also free time to check out Victoria's cafes or walk Tofino's beaches alone. Having a CEO guide handle all the logistics means solo travelers can just focus on enjoying themselves rather than worrying about details.
The Klahoose Adventure in British Columbia is perfect for couples looking for a luxury escape. You get private resort rooms in Desolation Sound where you can kayak in sheltered waters, learn about nature from Indigenous guides and watch for whales right from your deck. We also run a popular three-park tour through North Cascades, Olympic and Mount Rainier National Parks that combines scenic drives with really nice lodges. Couples tell us they love mixing guided activities with romantic downtime - maybe soaking in hidden hot springs or catching the sunset over Tofino's coastline.
Young adults tend to go for our active outdoor tours. The BC ski tours hit epic mountains like Revelstoke, Kicking Horse and Red Mountain where you can tackle challenging runs. After skiing, the groups hang out at local breweries and soak in natural hot springs. In summer, lots choose Vancouver Island tours that mix surfing in Tofino, hiking the Juan de Fuca trail and kayaking trips. Our younger travelers really like the social vibe at beachfront camps and being able to pick how hard they want to push themselves each day.
Our premium Vancouver Island tours work really well for senior travelers with their comfortable hotels and flexible pace. You'll visit Victoria's Inner Harbour, Butchart Gardens and take an easy walk on the Malahat SkyWalk's elevated pathway. Older guests tell us they appreciate having time to explore on their own terms - whether that's taking photos of Duncan's totem poles or watching for whales from Tofino's shore. We pick hotels close to town centers and include gentler walking options through Cathedral Grove's old growth forest or along Victoria's waterfront path.
Vancouver Island offers really nice options for families to explore the Pacific Northwest together. Our 3-day Vancouver-Victoria tour mixes city experiences with nature activities - parents tell us they love how flexible the pace is while their kids get excited spotting whales and seals during boat trips. Walking through Butchart Gardens and along the Wild Pacific Trail, families often see eagles, bears and lots of marine life. The guides are great at adjusting activities based on the children's ages - some days that means learning about sea creatures at the Ucluelet Aquarium, other days it's taking on a more challenging hike through East Sooke Regional Park.

Spring really comes alive with peak whale watching season. Our Vancouver Island routes combine marine wildlife viewing and hikes through rainforests just as they start blooming. The San Juan Islands cycling tours work perfectly this time of year - our riders tell us they love having quiet roads to themselves and spotting migrating orcas right from their bikes. Idaho's Coeur d'Alene trails open up nicely too, letting cyclists enjoy scenic rail-trails before the summer crowds arrive. Fall creates ideal conditions for watching grizzly bears feast during salmon runs, especially around Campbell River and Orford River. Our travelers consistently tell us these bear-viewing experiences are trip highlights, particularly when paired with visits to Cathedral Grove's ancient forest. Vancouver Island explorer tours take advantage of smaller autumn crowds while still offering excellent wildlife viewing - you'll often spot whales, seals and also eagles during private boat trips. When's the best time to hit the Pacific Northwest for hiking and kayaking?
Summer's definitely peak season around July and August with perfect weather for hitting trails like Whistler's High Note or paddling Cowichan Bay. But here's a local tip - May June and September October are really sweet spots with nice temps and way fewer people around. If you're into nature watching autumn's actually amazing especially at Vancouver Island's Goldstream Provincial Park where you can catch the salmon runs. The Vancouver Island Explorer tour is a great 10-day small group trip that lets you experience Goldstream's hiking and biking trails firsthand.
Where can I learn about Indigenous culture in the Pacific Northwest?
The region's just packed with Indigenous heritage. Down in Washington the Makah Museum near Shi Shi Beach is fantastic for diving into Makah culture and traditions. Up in BC you've got to check out Xat'sull Heritage Village near Williams Lake where you can really experience Indigenous life firsthand. Our Klahoose Adventure tours are pretty special - you can actually take part in a traditional cedar brushing ceremony. The 4-night Klahoose Adventure British Columbia Summer Wildlife & Cultural Tour really brings it all together.
What are some cool off-the-beaten-path spots worth checking out?
While Seattle and Portland are great everyone knows about them. For something different head to Shi Shi Beach and Point of Arches in Olympic National Park - travelers always mention how peaceful and dramatic it is out there. If you're up for something really unique check out Farwell Canyon in BC with these amazing sandstone dunes right next to Junction Sheep Range Provincial Park. You can explore Shi Shi Beach and Point of Arches on the 3-day Olympic Inn Based Tour.
What's the best way to get around the Pacific Northwest?
You've got lots of options depending on how you like to travel. Rent a car and drive yourself along gorgeous routes like the Sea to Sky Highway which you'll see on the 3-day budget Vancouver Whistler and Victoria tour. If you prefer having everything planned out companies like TourRadar offer great guided trips. For something really special hop on a train through the Cascade Mountains - it's a really relaxed way to soak in all that Northwest beauty.
Can I visit without spending too much? What are some budget-friendly activities?
You absolutely can! Camping in places like Olympic National Park or Mount Rainier is amazing and won't break the bank. There's loads of free stuff to check out too like Pike Place Market in Seattle or Vancouver's Stanley Park both full of local culture and atmosphere. Look for budget tours or use public transit in the bigger cities it's actually really efficient and saves you money. The 4-day Wonders of the North Cascades tour is perfect for budget travelers you even get to camp under the stars.
