Fabulous loop trip around the Kimberly region. Warra Dan, our driver was knowledgeable and organised our time well so that we made the most of our days without encountering crowds of other tourists. We covered big distances on sometimes rough terrain but always felt very safe with Warra driving. We arrived at our campsites in daylight which made things easier. The food was plentiful and fresh. Our hostess Nikki was delightful and very helpful.
- 7 Day Perth to Exmouth Explorer Loop
The tour guide, Wokka, is amazing! So happy I got to do the tour with him. He takes care of everything during the trip, made the whole trip go smooth, cook dinner for us every night and even pancakes the last morning! Listening to his widely Australian knowledge about flora and fauna was great. I'm very happy with the tour!
- 6 Day Perth to Exmouth Coral Coaster (One Way)
it was a fantastic tour with lots of exciting things to do and see

See all Coach / Bus toursFor travelers seeking real wilderness adventures, Western Australia's explorer tours deliver exceptional experiences. Our most popular 7-day Perth to Exmouth route combines desert landscapes with marine encounters - you'll walk through the limestone formations at Nambung National Park, swim with manta rays at Ningaloo Reef and watch wild dolphins approach the shore at Monkey Mia. Our customers particularly love the knowledgeable guides who handle everything from wildlife spotting to evening campfire meals. The tours include a mix of hostel and camping stays, which our younger travelers say creates great social connections. What stands out in reviews is how well-planned the long driving days are, with plenty of stops at hidden spots like Shell Beach and the ancient stromatolites.

Based on what our travelers tell us, Autopia Tours hits the mark with their guides - Linda, Wokka and Jason get mentioned a lot for really knowing their stuff and making everyone feel welcome on tour. The accommodation quality isn't always consistent though, and some tours have strayed from the planned schedule. There was a bit of drama when Aussie Wanderer had to close down, but TourRadar stepped in quickly to help affected travelers find new tours. Those customers ended up pretty happy with how it all worked out and enjoyed the replacement tours they booked. The guides seem to be the real strength here - they keep getting genuine praise from people who've done these tours. But if you're considering booking, just know the hotels can be hit or miss, and the daily plans might need some flexibility. [Note: I've kept the key facts while making it flow more naturally, mixed in practical insights about what this means for potential bookings, and maintained a professional but conversational tone throughout.]

"Amazing tour! We saw so many things, starting from Perth, to the Kalbarri National Park and the Pink Lake, the dolphins at Monkey Mia, Shell Beach, snorkeling with the mantas… The highlight was definitely our wonderful guide Danny, who was friendly and knowledgeable and made sure we all enjoyed our time and had fun! I can’t recommend him enough. The tour involves a lot of driving and the bus is quite small and can get warm due to the high temperatures, but the stops are worth it, and everything was perfectly timed by Danny to ensure we had regular bathroom breaks, opportunities to buy water and snacks, and enough time to explore and have a swim at the great beaches we stopped at. I highly recommend doing the snorkeling with mantas in Coral Bay: it is excluded from the price of the tour, but it’s absolutely worth it ($270pp). It’s a day trip (from 7am to 2:30pm) with lunch included, and we got to go snorkeling and see so much marine wildlife including turtles, sharks and mantas. Another highlight was the dolphin experience at Monkey Mia (included in the tour)! There are 2 options for the tour (shared/private accommodation): the shared one included hostels with mixed dorms of up to 10 people. They are often in the middle of nowhere and with few toilets, but we never had any issues and always had a great time (especially since most people on the tour are backpackers and are used to the hostel life). I had a wonderful time and absolutely recommend this tour!

Best places to start your Western Australia tour
Perth kicks off most Western Australia tours - 56 of our routes start from the capital. Broome's pretty popular too with 17 tours leaving from there (you can thank Cable Beach and its pearl-diving heritage for that), while Darwin starts 11 different journeys heading south through the outback. Looking at our booking patterns, you'll want to lock things in about 81 days before you plan to go, especially if you're keen to see whale sharks at Ningaloo or catch the wildflowers in bloom. Our travelers typically spend 10-14 days exploring the region, and winter's a smart choice for nice weather and fewer crowds. When you head into the remote spots, our local guides come prepared with supplies, safety know-how and tips for finding the best wildlife photo spots and authentic cultural experiences.

Top Western Australia travel itineraries to fit your plans
If you're after a quick Western Australia getaway, our 3-day tours pack in quite a lot. The Southern Experience takes you from Perth through the Valley of the Giants where you'll walk high up among massive karri trees. There's time to check out Albany's history and the wild coast at Torndirrup National Park before heading to Wave Rock. Our guests really like how the tour mixes nature and local culture - one recently told us how their guide Patrick made even the long drives interesting with stories about the area. We've also got something different with our Margaret River yoga escape that brings together beach walks, meditation and local food. You'll sleep in bell tents at a permaculture farm, do morning yoga by the ocean and taste wines at small biodynamic vineyards.

The Perth to Exmouth route is a hit with younger travelers who love meeting dolphins at Monkey Mia and snorkeling at Ningaloo Reef. You'll sandboard down desert dunes, walk through Kalbarri's red gorges and cool off in hidden waterfalls. Our guides get lots of praise for knowing their stuff and keeping the energy up during long drives. People tell us they love the social vibe at bush camps and hostels, though some mention upgrading rooms is worth it if you like your comfort. We've also got a northern route to Broome that adds pearl farms and Indigenous cultural experiences to the coastal spots.

Demographics
Our 6-7 day Perth to Exmouth routes hit the mark for solo travelers; there's this nice balance of group time and doing your own thing that makes it easy to meet people. The social side really comes alive at spots like Monkey Mia, where everyone gathers to see wild dolphins before choosing extras like snorkeling with manta rays or taking glass-bottom boats at Ningaloo Reef. We mix hostel stays with camping nights, which our solo guests say is perfect for making friends on the road. The guides know how to keep things flowing on those long drives, picking good stops at Shell Beach, the Pink Lake and also the Kalbarri gorges.
The 8-day west coast tours work really well for couples who want comfort with a bit of adventure mixed in. You'll catch your own lobster in Kalbarri one day, then wind down watching the sun drop into the Indian Ocean the next. Our couples like how we balance guided activities with free time at places like Monkey Mia - join the morning dolphin watching, then choose between walking the beach, taking an evening boat trip or just relaxing by the water. The rooms get good marks too, especially at spots like Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort where you're right there for wildlife viewing and also creature comforts.
Families exploring Western Australia really get their money's worth in the Kimberley region. Our 5-day family tours mix up camping at Windjana Gorge, cooling off in quiet spots like Galvans Gorge and checking out Aboriginal art at Norval Gallery in Derby. Parents tell us their kids get stuck into all the hands-on stuff - they learn about the old Boab Prison Tree and take dips in Manning Falls after walking the bush trails with our guides. What keeps coming up in feedback is how good our guides are with children - they share local stories in ways that keep the kids interested while making sure everyone's comfortable with both the daily activities and also the camping.

Best time to visit Western Australia
- Spring 2025
Spring sees Western Australia burst into color with wildflower season making it an exceptional time for our walking tours. The Cape to Cape Track tours are particularly popular, offering a mix of coastal trails, inland forest paths and also dramatic clifftop views when the weather's just right. Our travelers love how the Kalbarri National Park sections of the northern tours show off bright blooms against red rock gorges. The Perth to Exmouth routes really work well in spring, letting you combine desert walks, marine life encounters and also those fantastic wildflower displays. Multi-day hikes through the karri forests down south put you right among the flowering season, with our guides pointing out rare orchids and local species you might miss on your own.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter brings out the best of Western Australia's coastal adventures, with mild temperatures perfect for long drives and outdoor activities. Our travelers particularly enjoy the 7-day Perth to Exmouth routes during this season, when clear skies and temperatures around 18-25°C make for excellent hiking in Kalbarri National Park and swimming at Ningaloo Reef. The multi-day Karijini tours really shine in winter - our customers love how the cooler weather lets them properly explore the ancient gorges, take refreshing dips in natural pools and also camp under incredibly clear starry skies. The station stays along these routes add a genuine outback touch, with travelers sharing stories around campfires and waking up to fresh scones at working cattle properties like Bullara Station. For those wanting a gentler pace, the coastal tours from Perth north offer excellent wildlife viewing, plus the chance to see migrating whales and wild dolphins at Monkey Mia.
