What people love about Botswana Tours
- Okavango Experience
It was my first time with Intrepid and with this kind of organized tour in general. I am use to travel a lot on my own to far destinations, mainly with 1-2 friends, however being this time alone I decided to give a try with Intrepid. Well, I have to say I can tell that my expectations have been all fullfilled or even by far exceeded! :) Meshack has been a great guide, as well as Danny as driver. Both very professional, with sense of Humor and super organized. We had a very tight schedule as every day we had to drive between 3 to 7hrs to the next destination, however we have never been late or missed something. All activities planned very were very well organized and allowed us really to do and see an impressive amount of places and wild animals in a very short amount of days. I would say the average age of the people was around 30, half couples and half friends/lonely travelers, most people were from countries were english is the mother tongue (mainly UK, Canada, Australia). The mood has been great for most of the trip and we never had any kind of fight or discussion within the group. If you are very indipendent, you might sometimes miss the freedom of organizing everything on your own, however there are some optional activities that allow for some flexibility and what to say, this is a group tour, so it's something you have to take into account from the beginning. That being said, the itinerary planned was great, the people and guide too and even being quite a wild and lonely traveler I barely missed that flexibility. So to sum up, I definetively liked this trip and recommend this tour to everybody, it has been a great experience. Suggest also to plan 1-2 days more before and after the tour to properly explore Johannesburg/Soweto and the Victoria Falls area.
- Okavango Experience
This trip exceeded my expectations - I had not expected to be as besotted by the scenery of Southern Africa as much as I was. Great leader who did everything in his power to ensure the group got the best experience possible. The truck was super-comfy with big windows to give us the best chance to catch view of the wildlife and landscape. Okavango Delta should be on every traveller's bucket list.
- Okavango Experience
The guide was an African. So It was good to brighten up the local matter. And also he was a nice person who was kind, well informed, responsible, and good at cooking. The trucking trip was good because I had tried it before. And road condition was also good. Camp life was better than I thought. But it was inconvenient because it was rainy day many times. So I upgraded to hotel for several days.

The Okavango Delta brings something truly special - our travelers keep telling us there's no place quite like it in Africa. The network of waterways sets up amazing wildlife encounters, whether you're quietly paddling a traditional mokoro canoe or walking alongside elephants with guides like Nonki, who gets constant praise for really knowing her stuff and catching all the little details. You get two totally different views of the wildlife here: watching hippos right at water level one minute, then spotting lions from a 4x4 the next. The camps are simple but comfy, and they put you right where you want to be - many of our guests say there's nothing quite like drifting off to sleep with all the sounds of the wild around you. The photography during golden hour is incredible according to our travelers, and the walking safaris get you properly close to nature. For seeing the most wildlife, plan your visit during the dry season from June to October when the floods arrive and animals gather near the water.
See all Okavango toursDiscover amazing wildlife and landscapes in Moremi Game Reserve. Most travelers enjoy exploring our Moremi Game Reserve adventures in May, making it the most popular time of the year.
See all Moremi Game Reserve toursHome to an abundance of gentle grey giants, Chobe National Park in Botswana is renowned for its incredible wildlife. Self-drive through the reserve for a close encounter or embark on a camping safari where you spend the night under the starry skies.
See all Chobe National Park toursThe mighty Zambezi River creates the world's largest sheet of falling water at Victoria Falls, and our travelers love experiencing it from both sides of the border. You get totally different views from Zambia and Zimbabwe, each worth exploring. The river cruises at sunset have become a real highlight - you'll drift past hippos in the water, spot crocs sunning themselves on shore and often see elephants wandering down for their evening drink. Many visitors combine their falls stay with a trip to Chobe National Park, where you'll find the world's biggest elephant population and excellent wildlife watching. The falls change completely with the seasons - February through May brings peak water flow with spray visible for miles and permanent rainbows in the mist, though some viewpoints get pretty soaked. Come during the dry season from August to December for clearer views and a chance to swim in Devil's Pool right at the falls' edge.

The shorter 3-day Chobe safaris give you a solid wildlife experience without stretching your budget too far. You'll spend mornings tracking animals in the national park and afternoons cruising the river, where massive elephant herds come down to drink. Our travelers love spotting hippos and crocodiles along the riverbank. For a deeper wilderness connection, the 6-day mobile camping tours take you into the heart of things - you'll pole through Okavango Delta channels in traditional mokoro canoes and sleep under canvas in Moremi Game Reserve. The campfire dinners really make these trips special, with wildlife often wandering past camp. If you've got more time, the 10-day routes mix camping in the parks with visits to local villages and markets, giving you a broader feel for Botswana.
Botswana's high-end safaris deliver something really special. The exclusive tented camps and lodges sit in prime wildlife spots, and you'll start with scenic flights over the Delta - watching elephants, giraffes and also zebras from above puts everything in perspective. These camps know how to do comfort right, with proper beds, en-suite bathrooms and staff who think of everything before you do. Many rooms have private decks overlooking waterholes, perfect for sunset wildlife watching. Having your own guide and vehicle means you can linger at special sightings or change plans based on where the animals are moving. The light aircraft transfers between camps make sure you're not wasting time on long drives. Our clients particularly like mixing up their activities - maybe walking safaris in the morning, boat cruises later, or extra time with a pride of lions. The longer 14-day private options add some really unique experiences, like exploring the ancient rock art at Tsodilo Hills or spending nights on private houseboats in the Delta channels.

Seven-day safaris give you time to properly explore Botswana's wild places. We usually combine the Okavango Delta, Khwai area and Moremi Game Reserve, starting with scenic flights over the delta's waterways before settling into luxury tented camps or remote lodges. Days follow a natural rhythm - early game drives, guided walks and boat trips as the sun sets. What makes these tours work so well is the variety; you might track leopards through Khwai's mopane forests one day and watch elephants splashing in delta channels the next. The private reserves near Moremi are excellent for predator spotting and our guides know just where to find harder-to-spot species like wild dogs and cheetahs.

See all toursTen days lets you cover Botswana's complete safari circuit properly. Tours typically start in the Kalahari seeing desert wildlife and the vast Makgadikgadi Pans before heading north to the Okavango Delta and Chobe. Having extra days means fitting in night drives in Savute to spot nocturnal hunters and visits to local communities. Many tours end at Victoria Falls adding thundering cascades and local market visits to your safari. Our customers particularly value staying longer in each spot - more time to watch wildlife behavior without rushing between camps.

You'll spend several nights in key spots like Moremi Game Reserve where our guests love using the underground hides that put you at eye-level with elephants at waterholes. You get proper time in the Okavango waterways, Savuti's predator plains and along Chobe's riverside. These longer trips also let you explore less-visited places like the Tsodilo Hills with ancient San rock art and the unique ecosystems of the Caprivi Strip. Solo travelers find good value and great company on Botswana's organized safaris. The 5-day Okavango Delta trips get lots of positive feedback, with guests particularly enjoying the social vibe at riverside camps and natural bonds that form during mokoro safaris and bush walks. Our guides are skilled at creating a welcoming group atmosphere while sharing their deep local knowledge. The camping safaris mix game drives and cultural visits with relaxed evenings around the campfire. Longer routes through Chobe and Moremi give plenty of time to connect with fellow travelers while experiencing different landscapes.
Couples often opt for Botswana's luxury tented camps where they can create their own rhythm each day. The private Okavango Delta tours combine helicopter flights over flooded plains with quiet mokoro trips and walking safaris. The upscale lodges along the Chobe River are particularly popular - you can watch elephants drink from your private deck as the sun sets. Many couples book our 7-day tours through Khwai and also Moremi Game Reserve, where game drives and boat safaris pair nicely with dinners under starlit skies.
Young adults tend to pick action-packed safari options. The 6-day mobile camping safaris are especially popular, offering real wilderness experiences with bush walks tracking animals, mokoro trips through the Delta and also nights camping in prime wildlife areas. Many choose combined tours through Moremi and Savuti where predator sightings are frequent. The small group camping creates natural friendships while daily activities keep everyone engaged throughout the trip.
Seniors appreciate our well-organized safaris that balance comfort with genuine wildlife experiences. The premium tours staying at established lodges get the most bookings, providing proper beds, quality meals and also guides who understand different needs. The shorter 3-5 day trips focusing on Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta work well, offering boat cruises and gentle game drives for excellent wildlife viewing. Our travelers often mention the attentive service at permanent camps and how guides adjust activities to match different mobility levels.
Families heading to Botswana tend to book the 8-13 day safaris that start in Johannesburg before moving into the wilderness areas. The Khama Rhino Sanctuary is a real hit with kids who can safely observe these incredible animals up close. Parents tell us their children love gliding through the Okavango Delta channels in mokoro canoes, spotting tiny reed frogs and elephants along the way. The camping setup in Moremi Game Reserve works nicely for families - the tents are roomy and our guides know exactly how to keep wildlife spotting engaging and fun for everyone.
