What people love about Africa Tours
- Best Of Egypt - 5* Cruise
We had Peter who was excellent. A lot of very early mornings (2am, 3am etc) so be prepared for that. Felt like you got a lot for what you pay.
- Egypt Explorer - Felucca cruise & Red Sea
AJ is the best tour guide I have ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable and very caring. I learnt more information than I ever knew about Egypt thanks to AJ and felt extremely safe and well looked after the entire experience. AJ made our tour the best it could be and we would have not enjoyed it as much if it weren’t for him. I 100% recommend AJ to anyone wanting to visit Egypt. Habibi is now my Egyptian family!

As a single woman traveling alone, I had a lot of apprehensions about spending time in Egypt after a work event in Cairo. I lucked out and found this tour online whose dates worked out perfectly for me. All the same, before leaving, my family was very worried because of the continuing conflict in the Middle East and because of the mass displacement of peoples. My tour and the company were carefully vetted by professionals for security reasons because it was tacked on to a work function. They found no issues of concern which greatly reassured my family and my work colleagues. The truth is that Egypt in general is very dependent on tourism. The government and the local people take great pains to ensure visitors are safe and have a good experience here. Although many people depend on the hustle as their personal livelihood, once ignored, or if they sense you are very uncomfortable, they leave you alone. Some might even change their tone, sincerely wish you well and welcome you to their country. They have to make a living, too. Always, I found Egyptians to be very kind and respectful. With regards to the tour, even before leaving Canada, I was reassured. Since booking the tour, communication online was clear and prompt. All of my questions were answered and I never had to worry about unexpected surprises. A few days before I left for the work part of my trip, the communication started again asking for my flight number. Once the organizer learned that I was already going to be in the country, he changed tack and made arrangements to have me picked up at my hotel rather than at the airport. Some organizations have a plan and they are inflexible with that plan. This is not my experience with Tour Radar. They adapted a lot to my needs, which I greatly appreciated, made appropriate recommendations (such as flying to Luxor rather than taking the night train - this is also something I recommend) and are quick to pivot or suggest stopping for refreshments when they sensed I just needed a break from the heat, the crowds or from sightseeing. The tour is well planned offering a mix of exhilarating experiences (riding camels at the pyramids of Giza - for an extra fee - and the hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings), sightseeing with knowledgeable guides, relaxation time on the cruise ship and on the beach (which is also needed to recover from the sometimes very early starts and from the heat.) The food offered in the hotels and the cruise ship is also good. I’m not sure if this is a usual thing, but because I booked the trip as a lone traveler, I often had a guide to myself, which was great because we could easily move through the giant crowds, and he was always happy to answer my millions of questions. (I will tip my hat to all my guides, but especially to Anas who was with me for the longest part of my trip.) Every evening, I was well briefed on what was going to happen the next day, who was going to come get me, where and at what time. They were available on WhatsApp if I had any questions after we would part ways. I always felt someone was looking out for me and was never left stranded. It is incredible how hard these people work to coordinate everything in the background from getting entry tickets to the sites, transportation and meals so every guest has a good and seamless experience.) I’m not into having photos taken of me at these sites (and admit to getting a little cranky with people jockeying for space in crowded situations trying to get the perfect dozen shots). So we focused more time to talking about what I was seeing and tying what I learned to our greater surroundings, not just the site we were visiting. All of my guides so far have been a lot more than just parrots repeating the same script day after day. If you don’t mind early morning, enjoy a little nap time in the afternoons, learning about incredible sites, having exhilarating experiences and want a human experience with people who work really hard to ensure you have a holiday that is suited to your tastes, this tour company is for you. I hope you enjoy your experience as much as I have.

"The trip was indescribably beautiful. We were able to see a lot of the country and had a great tour guide with lots of interesting information about the country and life there. The tour group was also absolutely great and we made lots of great friends. However, there are two negative points. Firstly, it would be great if the itinerary included an approximate distance or travel time between the individual stops. Some of the bus journeys were very long, even though our tour guide made them as entertaining as possible with his "talks" in between. In addition, the price of all activities is misleading... I am aware that the concept is based on modular activities, but there were many activities that you simply had to take part in so that the other travelers did not have any time disadvantages in their activities. It would be better to include more activities in the price, then you are less annoyed and have a better price overview right from the start.

"We enjoyed seeing various animals including the big five. The guides knew where to go to find rare predators. We selected this tour over a private safari, thinking that interacting with other people will be interesting But the tour company did not have anyone else with the same 12 day tour itinerary. So they added people with short excursions. This led to us spending long hours in the van while the driver dropped and pick up these travelers. For example, the trip from Masai Mara to lake Nakuru took us ten hours vs standard 5 to 6 hours. Lake Nakuru lodge was beautiful, but we reached there after dark and couldn't enjoy anything. There was minimal communication from the tour company (Africa Venture Safaris). Drivers who were also tour guides, did not explain much as we travelled to different parks. except pointing to the animals. We really enjoyed the Parks and game drives, and saw all kinds of animals in their natural habitat. As a word of caution, next time I would go with a private tour or go in a group of six to avoid wasted time and long rides on extremely bumpy roads.
