Me and my 2 daughters had an incredible time on this tour from Athens to Cappadocia! Every part of the trip was planned and well-organized, and we felt like we really got to experience each place. The guides were very friendly and fun, always making the best of our time. Plus, the flights were included, which made everything super convenient. Highly recommend this trip and Ajdinis Team.
- Best of Italy and Greece (14 Days)
Accommodations for the cruise quarters was the only disappointment. We were not given the opportunity to upgrade our cruise cabin even though we purchased this trip well in advance.
- Best of Turkey and Greece with island hopping (Small Group)
This is really two tours combined. The first half is a deep dive into Turkey, it's history and culture. It is packed full of experiences and sights. Accomodation, meals and transport are all excellent but the real gem was our guide. Nadir was incedibly knowledgeable, passionate and helpful. The second half of the tour, The Greek Isles, is a real change of pace. While there are always transfers to and from ferries and resorts beyond that you are on your own to simply relax and enjoy yourself. The resorts were spectacular abd the transfers were great.
Travel Greece and Turkey your way
The coach routes through this region are carefully planned to link major UNESCO sites while keeping travel times comfortable. Most popular is the Athens to Istanbul route through the Balkans. You'll make proper stops at places like Thessaloniki's White Tower and Sofia's main sites, with enough time to explore rather than just take photos and leave. While the guided walks and photo opportunities are great, our customers especially appreciate how smoothly we handle all the border crossings and logistics. The drives between cities give you a real feel for the countryside and the coaches come equipped with everything needed for those longer travel days.
Our Mediterranean sailing trips through Greece and Turkey really shine when it comes to mixing culture with laid-back time at sea. There's a fantastic route from Athens into the Cyclades where you'll stop at Delos - you can wander through its UNESCO archaeological sites before heading to Mykonos. Our travelers particularly love the stops at quieter spots like Milos and Hydra, where there are no cars on the streets and you get that genuine Greek feel. If you want to go further, there's an 18-day journey from Athens all the way to the Amalfi Coast. It's a nice blend of Greek and Italian maritime life with stops in places like Syracuse and Malta's historic Valletta. For a deeper dive into the region, we've got 17-day trips that combine land tours around Athens, Olympia and Delphi with several days at sea. You'll sail to places like Kusadasi where you can explore the ancient streets of Ephesus. What makes these trips work so well is how they balance guided cultural visits with free time to discover ports at your own pace.
See all Sailing toursOur cultural immersion routes blend historic sites with genuine local experiences, starting right in Athens with expert-led Acropolis tours. The journey continues north where you'll find yourself among Meteora's monasteries perched high on natural rock pillars. As you cross into Bulgaria and Romania, the pace shifts - there's time to soak in the peaceful morning light at Rila Monastery and take optional trips into Transylvania's countryside. What our guests really love is how the schedule mixes guided tours with plenty of free time, especially in Istanbul where they can explore the Grand Bazaar at their own pace. In Cappadocia, early birds can take hot air balloon flights over the distinctive rock formations before heading underground to explore ancient cities carved beneath the surface.

Combining Greece and Turkey into one journey makes a lot of sense these days — you'll get to dive deep into two ancient civilizations that share so much history. The ferry connections between Greek islands and Turkish coastal cities like Kusadasi have made it super convenient to explore both countries. If you're looking for a seamless experience our Best of Turkey and Greece with island hopping small group tour lets you see the best of both worlds without the logistics hassle.
Getting Between Greek Islands and Mainland Turkey has great network of ferry services connecting Greek islands like Rhodes Samos and Mykonos to Turkey's coastal cities. It's actually a beautiful way to travel between countries and depending on your route you're looking at anywhere from an hour to a few hours on the water. The Samos to Kusadasi ferry is particularly popular with travelers wanting to cross between the countries.
Cultural Differences to Keep in Mind
While these neighbors share deep historical connections they've each got their own distinct vibe. Greece leans Orthodox Christian with incredible sites like the Meteora monasteries while Turkey's predominantly Muslim culture shines through places like the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque in Istanbul. A quick tip — pack some modest clothing for visiting religious sites and learning a few basic greetings in both languages goes a long way with locals.
Hidden Gems Worth Discovering
Sure Athens and Istanbul are amazing but there's so much more to explore. Greece's medieval citadel of Mystra offers this incredible window into Byzantine times and those Meteora monasteries perched on cliffs — they're just unreal. Over in Turkey Pamukkale's white travertine formations look like something from another planet and our travelers can't stop raving about Cappadocia's landscape and underground cities especially Derinkuyu.
Making the Most of Your Budget
If you're watching your wallet think about traveling during April-May or September-October — you'll find better prices and fewer crowds too. While independent travel can save you money lots of people love the convenience of tours like our Best of Turkey and Greece with island hopping small group experience. It includes everything you need without the planning headaches. Local transportation like ferries and buses helps keep costs down and tours like Athens to Cappadocia through Bucharest and Istanbul with 3 flights included offer solid value for covering major destinations.
