The Big Five roam freely in Kenya's Masai Mara and Tanzania's Serengeti, viewed from specialized 4x4 vehicles. Nights under African stars at Ngorongoro Crater's rim complement days in Stone Town's historic lanes in Zanzibar. Designed for ages 18-39, local guides facilitate close wildlife encounters across both nations.

The tour exceeded my expectations! It was a great adventure, we were very lucky with the weather and seeing a lot of wild animals. The group was awesome also special thanks to Jacob for his professionalism and to Sylvia for her special meals :) I would definitely recommend the guides, the tour and Intrepid company to all my friends and colleagues.
- 21-day Victoria Falls to Serengeti (Camping)
I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to get a taste of Africa in just 3 weeks! Acacia were amazing, the guide and driver were brilliant - so knowledgeable and funny, they really made the trip! Food was also delicious! Great truck, with a range of ages but everyone was up for a laugh! Highlights: definitely the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, managed to see the Big 5. Zanzibar was beautiful and Kandi Beach at Lake Malawi was great!

See all Safari toursThe Kilimanjaro Rongai route takes 6-7 days and approaches from the quieter northern side - it's become really popular with our clients who prefer a steadier climb. You'll move through completely different environments, starting in maize fields, walking through pine forests and finally reaching the moon-like terrain near the top. What makes these treks special is the guide team; many have summited hundreds of times and know exactly how to pace the group. They're particularly good at keeping everyone motivated during the challenging summit night, when you set out around midnight to reach Uhuru Peak just as the sun comes up.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursOur active tours across Kenya and Tanzania go well beyond regular game drives. The 10-day combination tours let you do things like track black rhinos in Lake Nakuru and watch the sun rise over the Serengeti. These trips cover all the key spots including Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and also Amboseli. Each day brings something different - you might spend your morning following lion tracks, meet with Maasai communities in the afternoon and finish watching elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro as your backdrop. The guides have perfect timing for wildlife viewing and authentic cultural experiences at each location.
See all Active toursThe longer East African tours give you the full experience over 21-26 days through Kenya and Tanzania's key spots. Starting in Nairobi, you'll travel through the Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and also Zanzibar. These routes blend excellent wildlife viewing with genuine cultural connections - from tracking gorillas in Bwindi to spending time with Maasai communities and learning local cooking in Stone Town. Our travelers tell us they love how varied it is: watching lions in the Serengeti one day, then snorkeling in Zanzibar's clear waters or walking through spice plantations the next.

The 7-day Kenya and Tanzania routes really hit the sweet spot for seeing loads of wildlife without rushing around too much. You'll head out from Nairobi into the Masai Mara, cross over to Tanzania's Serengeti and also explore Ngorongoro Crater. Our guests often tell us how much they appreciate the guides - they're proper experts who know exactly where to find animals and understand their behaviors. The camps are perfectly placed too; it's pretty normal to spot zebras grazing right outside your tent or hear lions calling in the darkness. Beyond the animals, you'll get properly stuck into local life - brewing banana beer in villages, visiting authentic Maasai homes and also cooking traditional meals with local families.
TourRadar recommends visiting:
Nairobi, Maasai Mara National Reserve, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro, Amboseli National Park
Ten days gives you that bit more breathing space to properly explore both countries. Starting in Nairobi, you get full days in the Masai Mara before heading into Tanzania's northern circuit. Our travelers really value how these trips mix up the busy wildlife watching with quieter moments - sipping drinks as the sun sets over the Serengeti or watching Kilimanjaro peek through morning clouds over coffee. The extra time means you can fit in those special experiences - floating over the plains in a hot air balloon at dawn, walking safaris with local rangers and also spending quality time in remote villages. It works brilliantly for photography too - you've got time to wait for that perfect shot.
TourRadar recommends visiting:
Nairobi, Lake Nakuru, Amboseli National Park, Lake Manyara, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Zanzibar
With two weeks, you can pack in everything from mountain gorillas in Uganda to lazy days on Zanzibar's beaches. These full tours typically kick off in Nairobi, covering Kenya's best wildlife spots before crossing to Tanzania for proper time in the Serengeti. We've woven in lots of local experiences - cooking with Tanzanian mamas, visiting women's co-ops, touring coffee plantations and also spending time in genuine Maasai communities. The longer timeframe lets you stay in some really unique spots - like camps right on crater rims and family-run guesthouses.

Demographics
Solo travelers tend to click really well on our longer 21-33 day overland trips through Kenya and Tanzania. You'll mix camping in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater with cultural visits like exploring Stone Town. Our solo guests tell us they love how the tour balances group time with personal space - you can join the gang for Masai Mara game drives, then head off on your own to check out Zanzibar's spice plantations or wander the Usambara Mountains. There's natural social time around campfires and shared meals, plus plenty of freedom to explore places like Arusha and Dar es Salaam at your own pace.
The 15-day premium tours really hit the mark for couples, especially with romantic tented camps in the Serengeti and luxury lodges by Bwindi Forest. You get active days tracking gorillas in Uganda or watching the Great Migration, then quiet evenings together in beautiful settings. Our couples particularly enjoy sundowners in the Masai Mara, private balconies facing Kilimanjaro and dinners under the stars. There's enough downtime to properly enjoy each spot, whether you're lounging by infinity pools at Lake Nakuru or exploring Zanzibar's spice gardens together.
Young adults really go for our 24-day camping trips from Masai Mara to Victoria Falls. The tours keep costs down with a smart mix of camping and basic lodges while hitting all the main spots. It's pretty active - you can opt for white water rafting near Jinja, snorkel in Zanzibar or take sunrise balloon rides over the Serengeti. The real draw is how authentic it feels - camping where you can hear lions in the Serengeti, learning crafts in local villages and spending evenings around the campfire trading stories with other travelers from all over.
Our 11-15 day premium tours really suit senior travelers, focusing on comfort while keeping things genuine. You'll stay in quality spots like the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge and comfortable Serengeti tented camps. With two nights in most places and game drives timed to dodge the midday heat, the pace works well. Our older guests particularly enjoy the cultural side - meeting Maasai communities, exploring local markets and learning about coffee growing in Karatu. The vehicles are specially set up for easy wildlife viewing and comfort on longer park transfers.
Our 11-15 day family tours really work well in East Africa, with stays at spots like Amboseli Serena and Zebra Plains Camp where kids can watch elephants and giraffes right from their room. The kids get plenty of hands-on experiences - they meet conservation experts at the Gorilla Doctors program, cook with local families in Tanzania and learn how Maasai people keep their traditions alive today. We've found that game drives need good pacing for families, so our guides make plenty of stops and know exactly how to keep young ones interested while tracking lions in the Serengeti or watching flamingos at Lake Nakuru.
