What people love about Macedonia Tours
- Semi-Private Tour; Best of North Macedonia in Eight Days
Can honestly say that this tour was the best possible way to spend my first week inNorth Macedonia! My two friends and I loved every minute of our 7 day tours with Choose Balkans. We had the best possible tour guide, he’s so much fun and a friendly face that everyone knew they could turn to with any question or request! Without a doubt worth every penny!
- Macedonia wine tour
I went on this tour together with my brother and sister. We had a wonderful time; this was largely due to the excellent attention and organising skills of Daniel our fantastic guide. The tour had two themes; exploring Macedonian wines and learning about the history and culture of this remarkable country. In UK we are unaware of the classy wines of the Macedonia. There are excellent varieties of red, white and rose. Several grape varieties are specific to the country, particularly Vranac which makes a classic fine red. We looked round a couple of wineries, spent two nights at a vineyard and had the opportunity to taste a number of the different wines. In addition we looked round several ancient churchs with remarkable iconic paintings on their walls, a brightly painted Mosque, saw fields of archeological remainders, Byzantine, Roman, etc, went on a grand boat trip on Lake Ohrid, explored a canyon in another boat when we went down into caves and had a look round Skopje the capital. We saw folk dancers, a fine folk band and even heavy rock music at a wine festival. All in 7 days. All the time Daniel kept a gentle eye on us and let us know all about the dramatic and tragic history of the lands. He drove us safely and the hotels we stayed in were splendid. In brief we had a great time exploring a country which is little known to UK tourists. We left with a new understanding of the troubled history of the Balkans and an appreciation of the generosity of the people. On top of that we experiences new wines. Highly recommended
