What people love about Bolivia Tours
- Bolivia Highlights
Bolivia is my favorite country in South America thanks to Gonzalo and Intrepid Travel! Gonzalo our guide showed the best and brightest the country had to offer. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. There is so much more to this country than just the salt flats!!! I was one of ten people on this trip so it was great to have such a small group which made it feel less like a 'tour.' Intrepid has consistently showed me the smallest group size out of any other company i've traveled with which i really appreciate!
- Bolivia Discovery
The Bolivian Discovery was an fabulous adventure. The trip covered all the great areas of the Bolivia, which the Salt Flats being the highlight. The accommodation was good, considering the location. The meals were good, although we eat at restaurants (which we paid for ourselves) The included meals were OK, but were a little repetitive. The amount of travelling is about right. The sightseeing was great was a real adventure. The trip duration was about right. I spent a few extra days in La Paz, which I think is a good idea to see the place outside of the actual tour itself
- Best of Bolivia: La Paz to Uyuni
Unu Raymi Expeditions was extremely helpful, quick to respond, and super accommodating when I needed to adjust my plans due to personal reasons. Their customer service was excellent, and they promptly addressed any concerns I raised. However, the execution of the tours was not as smooth as I had hoped. Since the operator is not based locally, there was significant miscommunication with the local agents. Contacts kept changing, which left me uncertain about who to reach out to at times. Some of the local agents seemed disorganized, with instances of trying to charge extra, not fully adhering to the tour’s terms, and even shortening some of the activities. While the main operator was fantastic in resolving these issues when I raised them, the overall experience could have been much better with a more reliable local team.

Machu Picchu stands as the crowning jewel of Andean experiences, where our travelers consistently tell us that photographs simply can't capture its true scale and majesty. The ancient Inca citadel reveals itself differently throughout the day as clouds drift past, creating an almost mystical atmosphere that leaves visitors spellbound. The Inca Trail journey itself has become legendary among our customers - it's a genuine mountain adventure with challenging ascents, ancient stone pathways and nights spent camping under star-filled skies. Our guides, who share deep knowledge of Inca history and local ecology, have earned particular praise for turning what could be just a tough trek into an enriching cultural experience. Travelers often describe how the changing ecosystems along the trail, from cloud forests to alpine grasslands, create a sense of walking through multiple worlds in just a few days.
See all Andes Mountains toursCheck out the stunning Bolivian Altiplano! Get mesmerized by Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat. Don't miss Lake Titicaca, explore the ancient Inca ruins of Tiwanaku, and catch a glimpse of the flamingos at the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve.

Bolivia's active routes range from moderate walks to proper challenges, with the 5-day Uyuni circuit being our most popular choice. Day two gets better ratings than day one - that's when you head toward Chile through landscapes that look like Mars, with active geysers and lagoons where flamingos gather. The 7-day private tours combine salt flat exploration with La Paz cable car rides and visits to the ancient Tiwanaku ruins. One interesting route takes you from La Paz down the Death Road by bike and connects to Uyuni via overnight bus. Our travelers really value having private guides who can adjust the pace and explain the geology in detail. These full circuits usually include nights in salt hotels and basic desert lodges, which adds to that feeling of being right in the middle of Bolivia's wild places.
See all Active toursOur most popular expedition-style tours blend La Paz's busy streets with extended salt flat journeys. These run between 5 and 12 days, taking you from ancient dinosaur tracks in Sucre to the rich-colored lagoons near Chile. Our travelers consistently mention how much they enjoy exploring Potosi's old mines and discovering unique spots like the wind-carved Stone Tree in the Siloli Desert. If you opt for a longer trip, you'll spend time in Madidi National Park watching for pink river dolphins and anacondas in their natural habitat. What sets these explorer tours apart is how they combine the vast salt flats with hidden places like Chikini Cavern, where you can see fossilized spider webs frozen in time.

Intrepid Travel really stands out for keeping their groups small, which makes a huge difference in how you experience places. When you're not moving around as part of a big crowd, you get to actually chat with locals and slip into smaller restaurants and spots that bigger groups just can't access. Their guide Gonzalo gets mentioned a lot in TourRadar reviews - he's got this deep knowledge of the areas and goes out of his way to help everyone in the group feel comfortable. Bamba's also getting good marks from travelers for putting together solid itineraries and their food stops are spot on. Their guides know their stuff and really help bring places to life. That said, a few of our travelers have hit some bumps with flight arrangements and getting clear updates about their bookings. It's worth noting these communication hiccups since they've come up more than once in recent feedback. When you stack them up, Intrepid seems to have the edge on the personal touch and smoother operations, but Bamba's definitely got their strong points too, especially when it comes to their food choices and local expertise.

"This was a once in a lifetime tour - you get to see the very best of Bolivia and the stunning landscapes it has to offer. Be prepared for long travel days, and prepare yourself for the altitude sickness as it can get pretty tough - I would advise to start in Peru, or a lower altitude country to acclimatise for a few days first. It would have been great if the tour started in Sucre and ended in La Paz, as this would have been a better route to acclimatise. Henri, our Intrepid tour guide was amazing, he put effort into the care and safety of the group and fun to be around!

"I recently completed a South America G Adventures tour, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From start to finish, everything was well-organized, and our guides were exceptional. A special thank you to Eduardo, Fio, Facuu, and Augustina. Their knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for the region made every day an adventure. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a rich and immersive experience, from the breathtaking landscapes to the vibrant cultures we explored. I can't wait to go back in 2026 for another amazing journey! I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to discover the beauty of South America with an incredible team guiding you!

"This was an absolutely fabulous tour for someone on a budget. I was a woman traveling alone and felt perfectly safe too. I really enjoyed all the tours and had no problems except one small miscommunication. We went I On a hike to a volcano and I was told it was 3 miles, but it ended up being 10 miles. I had broken my ankle about 6 months before so there were a few problems- but I made it and it was a wonderful hike. Overall completely enjoyed the experience. I would definitely recommend to others.
