What people love about Budget Tours in Mount Everest
- Small Group Everest Base Camp Trek
I am back to home after two-week long monsoon trekking to Everest Base Camp with Uma Holidays. Apart from the weather, everything was perfectly organized by the company. We had clear views only twice throughout the trip which we were aware of prior to the trek. The route was pretty calm and we met only a few people on the trail.
- Rapid Everest Base Camp Trek
Our recent trek to Everest base camp was made so enjoyable with Sherpa Expedition Teams. It was my first-time visit to Nepal. Our guide is very good and helpful. We have a fantastic time during the trek.
- Everest View Trek
I am a 45 year old female traveler and completed a solo three day trek from Lukla to Namche Bazzar. This was the perfect trek to get a taste of trekking in the Himalayas is like - stopping at tea houses and lodges along the way - with absolutely breathtaking views. It was spectacular to get away to clean air, no vehicles - only nature and slower life in the beautiful mountains. The lodge stays were a great experience - having modern conveniences but still feeling like you are gaining a wilderness experience! The trip was organized well where I only needed to carry a small daypack with a few personal belongings. I was fortunate to have seen breathtaking views of Everest and 360 views of Himalaya mountain ranges on the trek and on the plane ride to and from Lukla. I cannot say enough great things about Dil, the tour operator. Dil took care of me from the moment my plane touched the ground in Kathmandu to the moment of departure. He kept in contact and checked on my progress throughout my trip, making all arrangements and making sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable and safe in my journey. My guide up the mountain, Dika, was also fantastic. I was a bit worried about not being in stellar '25-yr-old' condition - but Dika was great at letting me set our pace and never making me feel like I was rushing to keep up or falling behind. Dika made sure I kept hydrated and took breaks as needed. We saw views that pictures cannot capture - including the famous Everest! Because of their accommodating nature - letting you set you own pace and pick the length of trip - I would recommend this trip for a wide range of people from younger to older, experienced to inexperienced - from solo travelers to families. I plan on returning with my sons and working with Dil and Dika to plan a Everest Basecamp visit! I highly recommend Alpine Ramble Treks!
What our customers ask about Budget Tours to Mount Everest
When is the most affordable time to trek Mount Everest?
The off-peak seasons of December-February and June-August offer the best value for money on Everest treks. You can save 20-30% on teahouse stays in places like Namche Bazaar and Dingboche compared to the prime trekking months of March-May and September-November. Winter brings challenging cold conditions while monsoon season means rain and limited visibility. A TourRadar traveler shared: "We did the Gokyo-Ri Trek in October with stunning views but accommodations were definitely pricier during this peak time."
What essential costs are typically not included in budget Everest Base Camp tours?
Several key expenses fall outside standard budget tour packages: Nepal entry visa ($25 for 15 days), travel insurance personal flights, drinks teahouse amenities like hot showers ($3-5) and battery charging ($2-5). You'll also need to cover tips for guides and porters ($5-10 daily) plus meals in Kathmandu ($5-15 per meal). A TourRadar traveler advised: "Budget extra for drinks snacks and tips - these small costs add up but are still reasonable."
What is the average daily cost for a budget tour to Mount Everest Base Camp?
Budget-conscious travelers can expect to spend between $93-140 per day with most tours averaging $115 daily. This covers basic teahouse stays including the Namche Bazar Lodge trek meals domestic Kathmandu-Lukla flights and guide services. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "We found them very affordable compared to other companies while still providing great service and an amazing experience."
Which areas along the Everest Base Camp trek are most budget-friendly for accommodation?
Lower elevation villages like Phakding Monjo and Namche Bazaar offer better value due to competition between guesthouses. Prices tend to increase at higher stops like Gorak Shep and Lobuche where lodging options become limited. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Teahouses in Namche Bazaar offered the best value with more facilities for the price."
How much should I budget for porter and guide tips on Mount Everest treks?
Standard tipping rates for guides run $8-10 daily while porters receive $5-7 per day (one porter typically serves two trekkers). For a 12-day journey this totals roughly $100-120 for guide tips and $60-80 for porter gratuities. As one TourRadar traveler shared about their Sherpa Expedition trek: "Our guide and porter were excellent and definitely deserved good tips - they worked incredibly hard carrying our gear through places like Namche Bazaar and up to Everest Base Camp."
What permits and fees are included in budget trek packages?
Most budget packages cover the essential permits: Sagarmatha National Park Entry ($30) and Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality fee ($20). Tour operators like Nepal Hiking Team and Sherpa Expedition Teams handle these documentation requirements. A TourRadar traveler mentioned "All permit fees were handled smoothly by our guide including the TIMS card which made entering Sagarmatha National Park hassle-free."
