  Ever since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by Egypt: its ancient history, its legacy. But I always envisioned it too far away, too mysterious for me to visit. But then, after two years of confinement due to the COVID pandemic, I learned not to procrastinate anymore on all the things I want to do in life. One of these was visiting Egypt. I had concern about being a senior adult traveling solo. But this concern turned out to be unfounded. I searched on the net for available tours, and the one that most fitted my interests in terms of days and content was the Goddess Hathor Tour offered by Holiday on Egypt thru the Tourradar web page. I made contact with Alaa, the tour coordinator, and we set up the dates and final itinerary, since I requested the optional day trips to Saqqara and to the Dendera, Abydos and Abu Simbel temples. These additions required an additional day added to the tour itinerary. I was even offered (and given) a private tour. Since I established contact with Alaa by e-mail and the Tourradar web page he promptly answered all my questions and took care of everything. He and his team -Mohammed, Nasser, Hassan and Mahmoud and the drivers- made sure I always felt safe, comfortable, secure and documented on all the sights. They even went out of their way when the situation required it, like taking me to a pharmacy or using their free time to accompany me to the Luxor Museum, which was not on the itinerary and I wanted to visit on my free afternoon. Those are the little details that make a difference. I also loved their method when visiting a place: on the way they gave me the background of what we were about to see, accompanied me to the highlights with all necessary explanations, and then gave me enough time to do my own exploring. All guides are very knowledgeable and most experienced in their job. They know their job and do it well. Also, this tour is very culturally oriented, so Alaa made sure I got the best guides, even an Egyptologist. I must say that Alaa is an excellent coordinator, orchestrating the whole scheme like clockwork.
