What people love about Peru Tours in January
- Amazon to the Andes
This was an amazing trip!! One of the hardest physical challenges of my young existence completing the Lares Trek, but worth every cold, wet and miserable moment! Peru is a beautiful country that I hope I have the chance to repeat!
- INCA ADVENTURES - 7 Days (Lima and Cusco) with Domestic Flights
Don't hesitate to book with Waman, our trip was PERFECT! For my birthday, my wife and I decided to go all out and book an adventure trip to Peru. After reviewing itineraries, prices offered by various tour companies and reviews from satisfied users we decided to choose Waman Adventures. Well, let me tell you that, from start to finish, the trip was perfect. Our guide Herlin was knowledgeable and friendly. The hotels were amazing, the same goes for the activities. Everything from the tours in Lima to the visit to Machu Picchu in Cusco was beyond our expectations. We came home from that trip talking about how we couldn't wait to visit Peru again, there was still so much to see. There is no doubt that when we visit Peru again, we will contact Waman Adventures.
- Peru: Ancient Cities & the Andes
I had the most amazing time and loved the tour!

One TourRadar traveler mentioned "the festivals brought such amazing energy to the city and gave us a unique glimpse into local traditions."
What are the best hiking trails open in Peru during January?
While the Inca Trail closes in February the Salkantay and Lares treks offer excellent alternatives in January. The paths near Colca Canyon remain open though hikers should pack rain gear. The seasonal rains create bright green landscapes along the trails. Many hikers base themselves at properties like El Mapi by Inkaterra in Aguas Calientes which serves as a comfortable starting point for various treks.
What are the best indoor activities and attractions are recommended for rainy January days?
The rainy season presents perfect opportunities to explore Peru's cultural spaces. Options include workshops in Cusco's San Blas district the extensive Larco Museum collection in Lima or hands-on cooking classes. Arequipa's Santa Catalina Monastery provides covered pathways for exploring colonial architecture. One TourRadar traveler shares "rainy afternoons were perfect for experiencing local museums and enjoying hot chocolate at historic cafes in Cusco's Plaza de Armas."
What is the availability and pricing like for Peru tours in January?
January's shoulder season status means tours typically cost 200-300 USD less than peak periods. Most activities run as scheduled except for the February Inca Trail closure. TourRadar data shows decreased bookings on routes like the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu resulting in smaller groups and better availability at preferred times.
