  • Day 1

    Windhoek & Wildlife Sanctuary

    Start your Namibian adventure in Windhoek and travel 50km east to the N/a'an ku se Wildlife Sanctuary. "The carnivore feeding tour was humbling - seeing rescued cheetahs and learning about conservation efforts really sets the tone for the whole trip."     Windhoek to Etosha National Park (500km)

    Leave at 7 AM and drive north through Otjiwarongo to reach Etosha. Visit the park's waterholes strategically with your guide who knows which ones attract the most wildlife. Stay at a lodge inside the park with a floodlit waterhole. "The illuminated waterhole at night was magical - we saw both elephants and endangered black rhinos coming to drink."     Full Day Etosha Safari

    Damaraland to Swakopmund (510km)

    Take a scenic drive through Damaraland's pink granite landscapes. You can meet local Himba and Herero people at roadside craft markets along the way. Drive past Brandberg Mountain and along the foggy Skeleton Coast until you reach the German colonial town of Swakopmund. Book your dinner reservations early as seafood restaurants fill up fast.

    Swakopmund to Sesriem (350km)

    You can try morning activities in Swakopmund like quad biking or sandboarding before leaving at 11:30 AM. The route crosses vast gravel plains and mountain passes including Kuiseb Canyon. "The transition from coast to desert was incredible - take photos at the Tropic of Capricorn sign." Spend the night near Sesriem where you'll access the dunes.

    Sossusvlei Dunes

    Start before dawn to see sunrise at the dunes. Take a 4x4 shuttle through deep sand to reach Dead Vlei's ancient camel thorn trees. "Climb the dunes early before the sand gets too hot - it's much easier barefoot." Visit Dune 45 and Sesriem Canyon. The 300m dune climbs are challenging so pack extra water.

    Return to Windhoek (320km)

    Drive back on the mountain route and stop at Solitaire for their famous apple pie. Book flights after 7 PM to allow time for delays.   • Day 1

    Windhoek to Sossusvlei

    Leave Windhoek early for the 5-hour drive to Sossusvlei. You'll see the landscape transform as you go, so have your camera ready. "The drive itself was part of the experience - watching the terrain change from bush to desert was incredible," one traveler shared. Plan to arrive at Solitaire Lodge before sunset to get a good night's rest for tomorrow's early start.

    
  • Day 2

    Sossusvlei Dunes

    Get up around 4:30 AM to reach Dune 45 for sunrise when the sand is still cool enough to climb. Make sure to wear closed shoes with good grip because the sand gets very hot by mid-morning. After Dune 45, check out the ancient camel thorn trees at Dead Vlei. If you still have energy, climb Big Daddy dune. End your day at Sesriem Canyon when the temperature drops in late afternoon.

    Sossusvlei to Swakopmund

    The drive to the coast takes about 4 hours. Stop at Walvis Bay's lagoon during high tide to see thousands of flamingos. You'll reach Swakopmund by afternoon, where the coastal breeze offers a nice break from the desert heat. Your campsite is on the edge of town, close to the German colonial buildings.

    Cape Cross Day Trip

    Take a drive north on the Skeleton Coast to Cape Cross Seal Colony (about 1.5 hours away). One visitor advised: "Bring a bandana or face mask - the seal colony smell is overwhelming but the experience is unforgettable." Look for shipwrecks on your way back. Once you're back in Swakopmund, you can try activities like sandboarding or scenic flights.

    Swakopmund to Etosha

    Today is a long drive (7-8 hours) northeast to Etosha. Watch the scenery change from desert to savanna. Try to reach Toshari Lodge in time for an evening game drive when animals are most active. Remember to bring binoculars for watching wildlife at the waterholes.

    Etosha National Park

    Start your full day of game viewing at sunrise to catch predators in action. Your guide will take you to eastern waterholes in the morning and the western section after lunch. Recent visitors spotted lots of elephants, lions and rhinos at Halali waterhole. Pack warm clothes for morning drives since winter temperatures can drop to 4°C.

    Etosha to Windhoek

    Windhoek & Wildlife Sanctuary

Visit in the afternoon when rehabilitated cheetahs and lions are most active.     Sossusvlei Dunes

    Start before dawn. You need to drive the 60km from Sesriem to the dunes before sunrise for the best photos. Take the 4x4 shuttle to Dead Vlei to see the famous dead camel thorn trees. It takes about 90 minutes to climb Big Daddy dune at 300m high. Start early before the sand gets too hot.

    Return to Windhoek

    The 320km drive back includes a morning stop at Solitaire for a cheetah conservation experience. Book flights after 6 PM to allow time for the journey.
