Great way to discover this part of South America!
- Quito to Lima: Surf Towns & Hot Springs
Absolutely amazing experience. I was so nervous about going on a tour by myself but I had nothing to worry about. The tour guide was brilliant and everything was very well organised. It was perfect for me as a young traveler wanting an adventure! A highlight for me was the homestay in the amazon jungle - the family were so welcoming and willing to share their lifestyle with us. I would go again in a heartbeat!
- 14 Days Peruvian Andes & Galapagos Islands
Outstanding from start to finish! We actually customized so we could travel for 17 days with Peru, Andes and the Galápagos Islands and we do not think it could have been better.

How Can You Best Combine Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands?
You know these are two incredible destinations and combining them actually works really well. Start with Machu Picchu up in the Peruvian Andes it's this amazing ancient Incan city then hop on a flight to Ecuador for your Galapagos adventure. The nice thing is there are plenty of tours that handle all the logistics like the Galapagos & Inca Trail Adventure which sorts out those internal flights from Quito to the Galapagos and Quito to Lima so you don't have to worry about a thing.
Should You Choose the Amazon in Ecuador or Peru?
Look both are fantastic but they're quite different experiences. Peru's got the bigger chunk of rainforest and places like Tambopata National Reserve are amazing for wildlife spotting. Ecuador's Amazon might be smaller but you get these really unique experiences like cycling through Shandia and staying with local Quichua families in Pimpilala. Budget-wise Ecuador tends to be a bit easier on the wallet than Peru. The Quito to La Paz Amazon & Ancient Cultures tour is a great example with that authentic Quichua family homestay in Pimpilala.
How Do You Deal with Altitude When Visiting Cusco and Machu Picchu?
The altitude thing is definitely something to take seriously. Your best bet is spending a few days in Cusco first just wandering around and exploring the Sacred Valley that really helps your body adjust before heading to Machu Picchu. Keep drinking water skip the alcohol and coffee and try some coca tea it's what locals have used forever. Tours like the Galapagos & Inca Trail Adventure are smart about this they've got different routes including the Quarry Trail where you can acclimatize at 3700 meters which works really well.
What Local Experiences Can You Find Beyond the Tourist Spots?
There's so much authentic culture to discover here. In Ecuador you can learn chocolate-making in Shandia or live with a Quichua family in the Amazon seeing how they really live day to day. Peru's got amazing experiences too like visiting the Center for Traditional Textiles in Cusco or meeting salt miners in Maras who still use ancient techniques. The Quito to La Paz tour includes this great visit to a women's weaving co-op in Ccaccaccollo where you'll see traditional weaving and meet their resident llamas.
