Our tour was excellent. The guide was very good and always on time.
- Laos Tour: Luang Prabang Escape in 4 Days - Private Tour
I enjoyed the well-organized tour of Luang Prabang so much and explored a lot in such a short time! The hotel was clean, beautifully decorated, in an excellent location (near the markets and the major tourist sights), and had friendly staff members. Phet was an excellent tour guide, and I learned so much about Lao culture, history, environment, gastronomy, and more. Additionally, he and the driver were always on time. I especially enjoyed learning the history behind the various temples and museums in the city, traveling on the Mekong River, standing in front of the breathtaking Kuang Si Falls, visiting places that support local communities, and learning more about Lao culture. Additionally, I really appreciated that I was taken to some places that directly support local communities (such as the place that supports women's weaving traditions and the restaurant owned by a nonprofit that trains young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to work there). I highly recommend doing this tour and adding Laos to your travel bucket list!
- Classic Luang Prabang in 4 Days
The guides were both excellent, very engaging, caring and very knowledgeable; the organization was in some respects a bit confused, in one case regarding how a local payment was to be made and in another instance there was a request for some official Lao document of which I had no awareness. Overall, however, the experience was excellent. Thank you

Our explorer tours really get you into the heart of Southeast Asian life and culture. The Real Thailand & Laos journey starts in Bangkok where you'll wander through local markets and old neighborhoods, then heads up to Chiang Mai for a climb up Doi Suthep - the views across the whole area are fantastic from up there. Once you're in Laos, you'll take a boat down the Mekong to see the Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of Buddha statues tucked into the rock walls. Our travelers often tell us the early morning alms ceremony in Luang Prabang is a highlight, where you can watch locals giving food to monks at dawn. If you want to see even more, the Epic Southeast Asia tour includes these experiences plus additional destinations.

For anyone looking at tours in Laos, we've gathered some solid feedback about three companies worth considering. Vietlong Travel has gotten good notes from our travelers - they're particularly strong with their trip planning and guide quality. One of their guides, Phalla M, really stands out for sharing deep cultural knowledge and historical details about Laos. Indochina Today Travel is doing well with their complete packages. Their hotels hit the mark, the itineraries work nicely and their guides know their stuff. Tom, who handles their tours, gets mentioned often for being quick to respond and helpful with arrangements. Legend Travel Group rounds out the options nicely, offering good value for money and efficient service. They've got the main Laos highlights covered in their tours and their past clients have had some really memorable experiences with them. Each of these companies brings something different to the table, but they share solid planning abilities and local expertise. It's worth noting that while we don't have extensive reviews for any of them, the feedback we do have is consistently positive, especially about their guide quality and attention to detail.

Many travelers opt for longer stays to really get to know local life. Our guides make all the difference - like Mr. T who weaves personal stories into Lao history and Mr. Phet who knows every hidden temple corner. Photographers especially love this setup, taking their time to capture perfect waterfall shots and temple details.

Our 3-day tours hit all the key spots in Luang Prabang without rushing you through. You'll explore the old quarter's UNESCO sites, including Wat Xiengthong temple - it's a perfect example of Laotian style with those distinctive low-sweeping roofs. Day two takes you up the Mekong by boat to Pak Ou Caves, where thousands of Buddha statues fill the rock chambers, and then to Kuang Si Falls for a swim in the turquoise pools. Many travelers tell us they really enjoyed the optional dawn alms-giving ceremony, where you can watch or join in as hundreds of monks in saffron robes collect their daily offerings. We also include stops at places like Ock Pop Tok, where you can see skilled weavers working and learn about traditional Lao textile making.

With seven days to explore, you can really get to know northern Laos. Our most-booked weeklong trips start in Luang Prabang then head north to Nong Khiaw, where massive limestone cliffs tower over riverside villages. You'll tackle the '100 Waterfalls Trail' - our customers say it's a proper adventure as you climb directly through cascading water with jungle all around. The tour includes nights in Khmu village homes, and travelers often mention how much they enjoyed joining in daily activities and sharing authentic family meals. Some routes combine Luang Prabang with Vientiane, so you'll experience both the spiritual old capital and also the French-influenced modern one.

Demographics
Luang Prabang works really well for solo travelers - our 3-4 day tours give you a solid mix of guided highlights and free time to explore. The groups stay small, usually 8-12 people, which makes it easy to meet other independent travelers while you're learning about local crafts or hiking to waterfalls. Our guides help you navigate cultural experiences like the morning alms ceremony and point out lesser-known spots for watching the sunset. A recent guest told us that staying near the old town was perfect; they could join group activities and then wander off to discover night markets and quiet cafes on their own time.
Our younger travelers go for the longer tours that pack in lots of activities over 12-17 days. You'll kayak the Nam Ou River, trek through villages and zip through the jungle canopy. The 100 Waterfalls trail gives you a proper workout and you can cool off in hidden lagoons afterward. Between adventures, you'll dive into local life with cooking classes and visits to traditional weaving workshops. The accommodation mix of hostels and homestays lets you hang out with both locals and fellow travelers. Our guides know exactly which street food stalls serve the best local dishes and where to catch sunset views over the Mekong with a cold Beer Lao.
Our private tours for senior travelers take things at a comfortable pace over 4-6 days, avoiding midday heat and crowded times at popular sites. You'll explore the Royal Palace Museum, ancient temples and cruise to Pak Ou Caves with guides who understand when to take breaks in shady spots. A guest last month mentioned how much they appreciated their guide finding quieter times to visit Kuang Si Falls and adjusting the walking speed through villages. We use quality hotels near the historic center and private vehicles, so it's easy to head back to your room for an afternoon rest if you want to recharge.

- Spring 2025
Spring's pleasant weather sets up ideal conditions for mixing culture with outdoor activities. The days flow naturally from early market visits into forest walks leading to hidden waterfalls. Our tours this season get hands-on with silk dyeing at Ock Pop Tok, traditional flower arranging and spiritual ceremonies alongside local monks. Evening Royal Ballet shows at the palace add something special. Many tours include village cycling routes, Mekong boat journeys and guided walks through temples when frangipani flowers reach full bloom.
