What people love about Sardinia Tours
- Sardinia & Corsica Sailing Adventure
Seriously amazing trip of a lifetime. We did this to celebrate my husband’s big birthday and we could not have asked for anything better. It is the top trip we have ever taken.
- Sardinia & Corsica Sailing Adventure
This thril was fantastic, I would highly recommend it. Our skipper Noon was brilliant and made the trip so great. We had a great mix of people on our tour and it was a lot of fun. Noon cooked food for us and that was some of the best Italian food I have ever had. When we were at the harbours he took us to some fantastic restaurants and great little bars. The beaches and swimming spots each day were amazing, there was a lot of swimming and waking up anchored in quiet bays surrounded by islands was so nice. We went to Bonifacio and it was so beautiful there. We had some rough weather during our trip, but Noon chose spot to anchor or habours to stay at that were safe and out of the bad weather. My only slightly negative comments would be about the actual boat. One of the fridges didn’t work for the duration of the trip and the cabin area of the boat wasn’t overly clean when we boarded and wasn’t stocked with linen. Thankfully the next day we had linen supplies to us.

Great week sailing with a fantastic group of solo travellers! Nuncio looked after us all really well and involved us in decisions. A pretty relaxed pace but with opportunity to explore and sight see as well. Would definitely recommend!

"First the positive. Olbia, Maddalena, and Bonifacio are beautiful. The waters are crystal clear. The sailing is amazing. The approach to Corsica is particularly stunning. The captain was extremely competent and we always felt safe. We only had 3 people plus the captain on the boat, which made the accommodations comfortable enough (8 people would have been way too many for me). On the not so positive side, the beaches were just ok and the snorkeling was unimpressive. We did not experience any walking trails nor much wild life. Breakfasts and lunches were all on the boat, as were 4 dinners. It was not our understanding that, literally, the captain’s only responsibility was to sail the boat. He didn’t help with paying for, preparing, or cleaning up after meals. With only the 3 passengers, this meant that on our vacation, we took care of him. We called him when lunch/dinner was ready and cleaned his dishes when we were all done. He didn’t seem particularly appreciative nor did he reciprocate in any way. He didn’t offer tips on walking trails or comment on wild life opportunities. He took the zodiac out once, on request. Basically, he dropped anchor and we were on our own. Overall, it was a beautiful trip but it didn’t totally live up to the expectations set by the itinerary.

"Everything went smoothly on our Sardinian road trip. We had good communication with the organisers, especially when we wished to extend our car rental. The hotels were all of a very good standard, particularly the last one in Baja. We were able to see a lot of Sardinia and meet the welcoming people, at our own pace. I would totally recommend this trip. My only additions being a map and suggested sites to see and possible local your guide details.

6 tours in SardiniaThe private Sardinia tours kick off in Cagliari, where you'll start with a morning walk through the historic Castello district. Our local guides take you through three distinct neighborhoods, each with its own personality and tucked-away spots. Many travelers tell us they love having the afternoon free to stroll the path to Poetto Beach. Moving north, you'll explore Oristano's medieval center and also visit Tharros - it's quite something to see Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine ruins right there on the Gulf's edge. In Bosa, guides show you around the medieval Castle of Serravalle before you sample local olive oils and wines. Then it's on to Alghero, nicknamed "Barceloneta" for good reason - its Catalan influence shows in the seaside walls, noble houses and quiet courtyards. Up in Gallura, our customers particularly enjoy the authentic villages like Tempio Pausania with its baroque churches dotting the squares. The journey winds down along Costa Smeralda, stopping at the upscale harbors of Porto Cervo and also Porto Rotondo.
Top Sardinia travel itineraries to fit your plans
The 7-day Sardinian tours connect the island's key spots in a natural flow that makes sense geographically and culturally. You'll begin in Cagliari where our guides time the visits to catch the Bastion of Saint-Remy and Cathedral when the light's best and crowds are thin. The historic neighborhoods of Castello, Stampace and Marina each tell their own story. Moving north to Oristano and Tharros, you can see where Phoenician, Roman and Byzantine cultures left their mark - it's fascinating how these civilizations built on top of each other. The routes then sweep up the coast to Bosa, where local artisans still craft coral jewelry near the medieval Castle of Serravalle. In Alghero's old town, you'll notice the Catalan influence everywhere - our travelers often mention how much they enjoy the free evenings here when the sea walls glow golden at sunset. Local food is a big part of the experience, especially in the Gallura region where we arrange lunches at family estates. The wine tastings and traditional dishes here regularly come up as trip highlights in our feedback. Heading east, you'll stop at Castelsardo's clifftop setting and explore Tempio Pausania, where the granite buildings showcase local stonework skills passed down through generations. The final days mix Costa Smeralda's fancy Porto Cervo with quieter spots - our guide Emma knows exactly which hidden beaches stay peaceful even in summer. What works really well is how these tours balance culture, food and beach time without feeling rushed. You'll learn how modern Sardinian life connects to ancient traditions as you move through each place.

Solo travelers really connect with our self-guided cycling tours along Sardinia's west coast. The GPS routes let you ride at your own speed while feeling confident about navigation - perfect for watching flamingos in the Sinis wetlands during spring or stopping at local trattorias whenever you want. We hear great things about the accommodation choices too, from cozy family hotels to authentic agriturismos where you can really get a feel for local life. The east coast hiking trails work nicely for independent travelers as well, with clear paths leading up to Pedra Longa's limestone formations and down to the blue waters of Cala Goloritze. Many of our solo hikers tell us they love chatting with other travelers in the mountain rifugios after a good day's walk.
Our self-drive tours hit just the right note for couples, giving you structure but plenty of freedom to explore. You can take your time in Cagliari's old Castello quarter, then head to quiet spots like Porto Giunco where many of our couples spend evenings watching flamingos in the lagoon at sunset. The drive to Alghero reveals secret coves and medieval towns perfect for romantic dinners. Active couples often pick our guided cycling tours - especially along Costa Verde where you'll ride past Europe's highest sand dunes before settling into carefully chosen hotels. For something different, couples love sailing from Olbia through the Maddalena islands, finding quiet bays and enjoying evening meals in charming ports.
The 5-day sailing trips around northern Sardinia really click with younger travelers. Setting off from Olbia, you'll explore the Maddalena archipelago with a small crew, swimming in clear coves and visiting Bonifacio's citadel perched on Corsica's cliffs. Our travelers tell us they love mixing active days with social evenings - from snorkeling in hidden spots to sharing drinks as the sun sets. These Olbia-based tours work really well as you'll see Costa Smeralda's beaches, experience Porto Cervo's evening scene and explore traditional fishing villages. The west coast cycling tours are popular too - you'll get both a physical challenge and cultural insights as you pedal through old mining towns and along dramatic coastal roads.

Best time to visit Sardinia
- Spring 2025
Spring offers really good conditions to discover what Sardinia has to offer. The cycling tours around Sinis wetlands work particularly well and you'll often spot pink flamingos going about their business near the ancient ruins. From Cagliari, our walking tours take you through three distinct historic quarters before the busy season kicks in. The coastal route from Villasimius to Costa Smeralda is excellent in spring - temperatures are just right for checking out hidden coves and old archaeological sites. Our travelers tell us they love taking the ferry to La Maddalena archipelago this time of year when the sea is calm and the islands feel quiet. If you prefer going at your own speed, spring weather makes it ideal for self-guided exploration of medieval towns like Bosa and also Alghero.

- Summer 2025
Summer is when our sailing tours really shine. We take small groups of 8-12 people from Olbia to explore Costa Smeralda and the Maddalena archipelago by yacht. Our customers particularly enjoy dropping anchor in quiet bays for swimming and snorkeling in crystal-clear Mediterranean waters. The guided tours from Cagliari make good use of long summer days - you can visit ancient nuraghi early then cool off at Poetto Beach later. For cyclists, Costa Verde offers some challenging rides with great views, though our guides suggest starting early to avoid peak heat. Self-drive tours are popular too since you can mix coastal exploration with visits to traditional villages, mountain towns and also inland sites.

- Fall / Autumn 2025
Fall brings excellent conditions for both active tours and cultural visits. The cycling routes from Cabras to Costa del Sud are particularly good with pleasant temperatures and fewer cars on the road. Our walking tours through Cagliari's old quarters and up to medieval Castelsardo get excellent feedback - the mild weather makes exploring much more enjoyable. Autumn self-drive tours work really well since you can take time discovering Oristano's Gothic cathedral, Alghero's Catalan old town and other sites without summer crowds. The coastal routes past Porto Cervo and around La Maddalena stay accessible, while inland towns like Tempio Pausania show their authentic side with local festivals, markets and also traditional events. Our travelers often tell us fall hits that sweet spot between cultural experiences and outdoor activities. For cycling through Sardinia, you've got three solid choices depending on how you want to travel. My Art Collection is a favorite among our travelers - they keep telling us about guides who really bring the local culture to life and know exactly where to find those hidden spots most tourists miss. If you prefer going at your own pace, Dolcevita has put together an excellent west coast route. Their GPS app is particularly useful - it's clear, reliable and helps you navigate without having to stop every few minutes to check a paper map. The routes stick mainly to quieter roads and coastal paths, so you can actually enjoy the scenery rather than worry about traffic. For cyclists who want more of a workout, Exodus runs tours that hit some challenging terrain. Michele and his team have a knack for keeping spirits high even on the tougher climbs, mixing local history and geology facts with just the right amount of humor. They're also great at adapting the pace to match different fitness levels in the group, making sure everyone gets what they need from the ride.
