What people love about Mount Kenya Tours
- 4 Days Mount Kenya Trek using the Sirimon Route
Excellent fast trekking to Mount Kenya 3 days / 2 nights Trek using the Sirimon route. Great transport organization, professional guide and good food (for mountain conditions) I highly recommend the agency and trekking
- 4 Days Mount Kenya Trek using the Sirimon Route
We had a fantastic time on a 4 day Mount Kenya hike. John, the director, came and met us the day before to ensure we had all questions answered. Our guide, Michael, was absolutely amazing throughout the 4 days, telling us all about the history of the mountain, the wildlife and the Flora. He also ensured we were walking at a safe pace and when it came to summit night (which can be mentally challenging) I don’t think I could have done it without Michael and his team guiding us up. But the top is so worth it, it’s utterly stunning. The team were also so friendly and fantastic, always producing delicious food! Would recommend this company and make sure you get Michael as your guide!

"The scenery along the Sirimon and Chogoria trails is superb, with unique flora and fauna. It's magical! The whole team (porters, cook and guide) fulfilled their mission very well: thank you to them for making our trek easier and richer... From the moment we were met at the airport to our return to our hotel at the end of the tour, everything went very smoothly. Very good presentation.

"Great quick 2 day excursion if you want to get a decent bit of hiking and and and seek Mount Kenya but don't have enough time to do a proper 4-5 day summit. We hiked in form the entrance to Old Moses camp and lunch and dinner were delicious and the vegan food I requested was quite tasty and well prepared. My cook was also my guide. He and I did the hike alone, which allowed me to set the pace. On day 2 we hiked from Old Moses to just shy of Shipton camp then back to Old Moses via Likii campground trail. Breakfast and lunch were tops. Things to bring with you. Headlamp (no lights in the bunk rooms), toilet paper, a towell if want to shower (it's very cold), jacket, sweater layers, sunblock (you are closer to the sun and will burn even on cool cloudy days), rain poncho and or unbrella

"1. Very first day lunch in the town was bad, caused upset stomach. Restaurant worker should have some understanding of English. Big communication issues. 2. The guide lost his certification card, and was not allowed to lead. 3. The porter had to lead the trip and was a communication problem. So basically there were two porter and no lead. 4. Restaurant and food has to be chosen very carefully. It could have been a total disaster with bad food. 5. The campsite and the dorms were very unhealthy. 10 people in a room and no decent working toilet.. 6. The hiking trail were good.

Demographics
The 2-day Sirimon Route trek works perfectly for solo travelers who want to move at their own rhythm with a dedicated guide. The guide-cook handles all your meals at Old Moses camp, and they're quite good at adapting to dietary needs including vegan options. If you're after more time on the mountain, the 5-day Sirimon-Chogoria routes give you proper time to adjust to the altitude while taking in those mountain panoramas. Our guides really know their stuff - from spotting local wildlife to reading weather patterns - and they're especially helpful during those challenging pre-dawn pushes to the summit.
Senior travelers often choose the gentler 5-day Chogoria-Sirimon route, where our guides set a comfortable pace for altitude adjustment. The Mount Kenya Bandas get high praise from our travelers - there's nothing like a hot shower and log fire after a full day's hiking. The path through Ontulili River and Mackinders Valley comes with plenty of strategic rest stops and also excellent viewing points. Many of our senior clients really value that full day around Hauseberg Lakes to acclimatize before heading up to Point Lenana.
The 7-day technical climbs up Nelion and Batian peaks attract young adults looking for a genuine climbing challenge. You'll need solid climbing experience to handle the Lewis Glacier and technical sections above 5,000 meters. For something equally rewarding but less technical, try the 4-day Naro Moru-Sirimon trek. You'll hike through bamboo forests, camp at Met Station and also make that special pre-dawn ascent to Point Lenana. The guides are skilled at finding that sweet spot between pushing your abilities and keeping everything safe, particularly when the altitude kicks in.

- Fall / Autumn 2025
Autumn combines great wildlife viewing with mountain climbing opportunities. Multi-day Sirimon treks let you spot buffaloes, elephants, bushbucks and plenty of birds in the lower forests. Our travelers love mixing savannah game drives with mountain hiking, particularly from July through September when wildebeest and zebra fill the surrounding plains. The guides consistently get high marks for their expertise in both wildlife tracking and also mountain safety, making sure everyone gets the full experience of both aspects. TourRadar travelers consistently mention two standout guides for Kilimanjaro climbs. John, who runs John's Alpine Guides, gets lots of comments about how well he communicates and his patience with questions - even the ones climbers might think are basic. He's known for making sure everyone feels comfortable asking about gear, training and route details before heading up the mountain. Michael from Active Kilitrips brings a different but equally valued approach - our climbers appreciate how he reads the group dynamic and adjusts the pace, breaks and technical instruction to match what each person needs. He's particularly good at sharing practical knowledge about altitude acclimation, local flora and the mountain's geology in a way that adds depth to the trek without feeling like a lecture. Both guides earn praise for handling the practical details while keeping spirits high during challenging sections. They've built solid reputations by focusing on safety and success rates, but it's their personal touches - like John's pre-climb preparation tips and Michael's stories about the mountain's history - that make their groups feel well-supported throughout the journey.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Mount Kenya's technical winter climbs really test serious mountaineers' skills. The challenging 7-day trips to Nelion and Batian peaks take you up to 5,199 meters, with experienced guides leading well-planned routes. Many of our clients prefer the 5-day Sirimon-Chogoria circuit treks - they consistently mention how good the porters are and praise the quality of camp meals. If you're short on time, the 2-day climbs work well to sample Mount Kenya's diverse zones, walking through montane forests and also moorlands. The pre-dawn push to Point Lenana is a favorite, with travelers reaching the top just as sunrise spreads across Kenya's highlands.
