Travel Mighty 5 your way
Our 9-day hiking tours through Utah's Mighty 5 parks blend camping under bright stars with daily walks that really showcase the landscape's character. Our travelers particularly connect with those early Bryce Canyon morning hikes - there's something special about watching first light turn the orange hoodoos golden. The trails mix up nicely in difficulty; you might start with an easy 3-mile walk to Emerald Pools in Zion, then work up to more demanding routes like the 8-mile path to Scout Lookout. Many of our older guests opt for the lodge-based version, getting the same great trails but returning to proper beds each night. The guides earn constant praise for reading their groups well, tweaking routes when needed and sharing rich details about local rocks, plants and wildlife.
The Mighty 5 tours run 4-9 days with small groups around 12-14 people, perfect for really getting to know your fellow travelers. Our guests particularly enjoy the Zion glamping experience where you'll hike through Bryce Canyon's unique rock formations and join Navajo guides in Antelope Canyon. Those guides are real gems - they tell fascinating stories and explain the geology and history of places like Monument Valley in a way that brings it all to life. Some tours include lovely perks like watching the sunrise at Zion Mountain Ranch, while others let you sleep under clear desert skies at Ponderosa Ranch. We mix well-known spots like Horseshoe Bend with quieter places such as Snow Canyon State Park, where many classic Westerns were filmed.

Best tour companies for Mighty 5 tours
From what our travelers tell us, Wildland Trekking stands out for Utah's national parks. Their guides really know the terrain, serve up proper meals and keep safety as the top priority. It's pricier than some options, but you get what you pay for with their attention to detail. If you're watching your budget, G Adventures runs good camping trips through all five Utah parks. They've got the logistics sorted and use experienced guides, though several of our customers suggest getting two guides - it's quite physical hiking these canyons and keeping up with a bigger group can be tough with just one guide. Intrepid's glamping setup sounds great on paper, but we've had mixed feedback. While some travelers loved the unique overnight stays, others mentioned problems with tent quality and weren't always clear on what was happening next. The communication could be better, and a few folks felt the reality didn't quite match what was promised. Each company has its strong points depending on what you're after - Wildland for a premium experience, G Adventures for good value camping and Intrepid for something in between, just know the glamping might be hit or miss.

Small Group
20 tours in Mighty 5Small groups work perfectly in Utah's canyon country. Our canyoneering trips keep numbers at 6-8 people, which is ideal for learning rappelling in the remote slots near Robber's Roost. Travelers really enjoy how the skills build up - starting with basics then progressing to dramatic 90-foot rappels through natural arches. The 3-day Zion tours stay small too, with just 4-6 people, so guides can adjust the pace and also routes based on the group's abilities.
Top Mighty 5 travel itineraries to fit your plans
Boulder Mountain backpacking takes seven days to really get into Utah's quieter corners. From St. George, you'll walk through aspen woods and alpine meadows, climbing 1,600 feet for some incredible views of Capitol Reef's Water Pocket Fold. Our travelers tell us they love the campsites by mountain lakes and streams, with plenty of downtime for photos and exploring around. You'll mix trail hiking with some off-trail sections, pass by old plane wreckage and make your way up to Boulder Peak. From there, you can see clear across to the Henry Mountains. The trip wraps up with a 2,000-foot descent that shows off how Utah changes from mountains to desert.
Ten days gives you proper time in each of Utah's Mighty 5 parks. Starting from Denver or Salt Lake City, we mix driving and hiking routes that work for different fitness levels. The cultural side really stands out - our customers love sharing meals with Navajo families near Antelope Canyon and hearing local guides' stories about the old mining days. While we visit popular spots like Horseshoe Bend, we balance them with quiet time in places like Kodachrome Basin State Park. In Bryce Canyon, you get full days to catch sunrise at Bryce Point, walk among the red rock formations or ride horses through Dixie National Forest.
Demographics
Our 9-day Mighty 5 camping trips really click with solo travelers, who tell us how quickly the small groups become friends while hiking and camping together. The guides handle all the planning while you focus on exploring Devils Garden and wading through the Narrows in Zion. Solo travelers especially like our group cooking sessions at the clean, well-set campsites - it's a natural way to connect. The nights are pretty special too - you'll share stories around campfires under Bryce Canyon's star-filled sky and catch both sunrise and sunset views across the parks. The hiking mix works well, combining tough trails like Angels Landing with easier walks past Capitol Reef's ancient rock art and fruit orchards.
Couples tend to pick our glamping trips, mixing active days with quiet evenings by the fire. Our longer lodge-based tours work really well for pairs wanting extra comfort - you'll stay at spots like Zion Mountain Ranch, Capitol Reef Resort and also similar places while finding trails most visitors miss. Couples tell us they love having both guided activities and free time to themselves, perfect for watching sunset at Horseshoe Bend or taking private hikes through Snow Canyon. The small groups mean you can be social when you want and have your space when you don't, and our guides are good at reading when couples need their own time.
Young travelers go for our more active camping trips that pack full hiking days with social nights around the fire. You'll get plenty of action - wading the Virgin River Narrows, exploring slot canyons in Grand Staircase-Escalante and taking on tough trails like the Scout Lookout climb. Camping keeps costs down while giving you maximum time outdoors, and younger guests particularly enjoy cooling off at Calf Creek Falls and working their way through the connected pools and arches of Peek-a-Boo Canyon. These trips draw people who don't mind early starts and long, active days in nature.
Older travelers prefer our lodge-based tours from Las Vegas or Salt Lake City, combining comfortable hotels with access to the parks' best spots. The tours offer different activity levels - you might take it slow between Sunrise and Sunset Points in Bryce Canyon or test yourself on Hickman Bridge trail in Capitol Reef. We pace things well with plenty of photo stops, and guides know how to adjust walks for different fitness levels. Our senior guests appreciate not having to worry about driving or planning, leaving them free to enjoy the views and learn about each park's geology, history and also local culture.
Families really connect with our 4-day Zion Glamping Adventure, where the western-style wagons come with private bathrooms and cozy fire pits - perfect for kids and parents who want outdoor comfort. Our guides adapt the hiking routes based on your group's energy: you might take it easy on Emerald Pools Trail or push up to Scout Lookout. The Navajo-guided tours through Lower Antelope Canyon are a big hit with kids, who love spotting light beams and pointing out the wave-shaped walls. Having picnic lunches amid Bryce Canyon's rock formations gives everyone a chance to rest, and parents tell us they like how active mornings blend into relaxed afternoons. Kids get excited when they learn Snow Canyon State Park was used in The Flintstones and also High School Musical 2.

Spring hits just right with ideal hiking weather and desert wildflowers. The 6-day camping trips start with desert birdsong and include The Narrows when water levels are exciting but manageable. - Summer 2025
Summer needs smart planning around the heat, but we've got it figured out. The 9-day camping trips catch sunrise at Delicate Arch and adjust activities as temperatures climb. Some tours mix starlit camping with cabin stays at Capitol Reef, where the Gold Tier dark sky status makes for excellent night viewing. Our travelers really like having swimming spots worked in - places like Calf Creek Falls and the Virgin River Narrows provide natural cooling. The guides know exactly when to tackle Queen's Garden Trail and also when to stick to easier rim walks.
- Fall / Autumn 2025
Fall creates perfect conditions for active exploration. The 4-day glamping trips let you see Zion's changing colors from comfortable bases, mixing main canyon walks with Navajo-guided tours through Antelope Canyon. For more challenge, 7-9 day trips combine camping with proper hiking through Capitol Reef's backcountry and also Canyonlands' Needles District. Our travelers consistently tell us fall trips are fantastic, especially when they include Bryce Canyon stargazing, early morning viewpoint hikes and also time in the parks' quieter sections.

When's the Best Time to Visit Utah's Mighty 5?
You'll find something special in every season here. Spring and fall are really perfect - think March through May or September to November when the weather's just right and you won't bump into too many other travelers on the trails. Summer's great if you're planning to wade through The Narrows at Zion though it does get pretty hot. Winter brings this magical snowy scene to Bryce Canyon that's really something else. Just ask our travelers Geetha and Jose Mathew who had this amazing fall experience on our 5-day Vegas to Mighty 5 tour - they loved how everything just worked perfectly with their guide.
Do I Need to Camp to Experience the Mighty 5?
Not at all! You've got some really comfortable options out there. Take Wildland Trekking's Zion and Bryce tour - you'll get to stay in some lovely spots like Zion Mountain Ranch Cliffrose Lodge and Bryce Canyon Lodge. Perfect for when you want to kick back after a day of exploring.
Which Park Works Best for Families?
Arches National Park's your best bet if you're traveling with kids. You can easily get to all the cool stuff like Delicate Arch and Balanced Rock and the views are just incredible - exactly what kids love to see.
How About Solo Travel - Are There Good Options?
G Adventures runs this great Hiking Utah's Mighty 5 tour that solo travelers really love. One person mentioned how nice it was having all the complicated stuff handled by their local guide. If you're looking for something a bit different Intrepid Travel's Zion Glamping Adventure gives you this perfect mix of outdoor adventure and comfort.
What Makes Canyonlands Stand Out from the Other Parks?
Canyonlands is really something else with its three distinct areas. You've got Island in the Sky where you can take in these incredible views from spots like Grand Viewpoint and Green River Overlook. Then there's The Needles with these amazing sandstone spires and challenging hikes like the Joint Trail to Chesler Park. The Maze is where you'll find true wilderness - it's pretty remote and you'll need permits to explore but that's what makes it special.
