What people love about Tasmania Tours
- Trek the Cradle Mountain Overland Track
My Overland Track hike with Intrepid Travel was excellent. The trip was run by Tasmanian Hikes and there was nothing at all I would give them anything less than an excellent rating. The equipment was top notch, the guides were superb, the food was amazing (and very unexpected) and the knowledge of the hike, flora and fauna and the area itself were second to none.
- Famous 5 - 5 day Tour of Tasmania
The tour was awesome, we did see a lot of spectacular things all around Tasmania, the guide James was firendly and did almost all the walks with us. The first 2 nights at “bumby’s” accomodation were really confortable. The hostel at bicheno wasnt really clean tho. In general, I loved my trip and wished I had booked more days!
- Explorer Six - 6 Day Tour of Tasmania
Great tour with great people! Our guide Justin did an excellent job!! I would definitely recommend it!
Travel Tasmania your way
The Overland Track gives you six solid days of proper wilderness trekking from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair - it's Tasmania's top multi-day walk and our customers tell us the guides make it special. They're great at explaining the local geology and wildlife, plus they somehow manage to cook really good meals at camp. If you want something more technical, the Western Arthurs Traverse runs 46km through alpine terrain with plenty of peaks and glacial lakes to navigate. For shorter walks without the heavy packs, we run day trips combining Freycinet National Park, Bruny Island and Mount Field where you can do the Wineglass Bay lookout track and Fluted Cape circuit at your own pace.

See all Coach / Bus toursOur explorer tours really get you into Tasmania's wild corners and natural spaces. The popular 6-day option takes you to Wineglass Bay with its white sand beaches and deep into the ancient Tarkine rainforest, where our customers particularly love stopping for local cheese tastings in St Marys along the route. Another solid choice runs 7 days and includes walks through Mt Field's incredibly tall trees, plus you'll get up close with Tasmanian devils at Bonorong sanctuary. Our travelers often tell us how much they value the guides who adjust the day's activities based on how the group is feeling and what the weather's doing. These tours include nights in Sheffield's artistic community and good time exploring the different environments around Cradle Mountain.

Top operators in Tasmania
Our travelers consistently recommend three top operators for walking Tasmania's wilderness trails. Intrepid Travel and Tasmanian Hikes get high marks from hikers on the Cradle Mountain Overland Track, where guides bring solid expertise and - somewhat surprisingly for backcountry trekking - really good food to the experience. The equipment they provide is reliable and well-maintained, which makes a big difference when you're out in changeable Tassie weather. Under Down Under runs popular circuits like their Tassie 5 Highlights and Super 7 tours, where the guides earn praise for adapting routes to weather conditions and sharing deep local knowledge. Their tours are smoothly organized and hit all the key spots, though some of our customers suggest booking upgraded lodging if you want more comfort after long days of walking. The standard accommodations work fine but aren't fancy. The guides on these tours know exactly when to push on and when to take it slower, especially on more challenging sections. They're good at reading the group's energy levels and interests, tweaking daily plans to match conditions and keeping spirits high with interesting stories about Tasmania's nature, history and local characters. All three companies maintain small group sizes which lets you properly experience Tasmania's quiet wilderness areas, spot wildlife more easily and get proper attention from guides when you need it on the trails.

"Brendon is the best tour guide. The tour was great, the group also was good so we can took some extra places to visit. Only the YHA accomodation was bad at the end of the tour. You got to know the people in the group than the last night you have to share bedroom with other strangers not with your group.

Demographics
Our 6-day explorer tours really click with solo travelers - you get that perfect mix of social time and your own space. The hostels are comfortable and social; you can chat with other travelers but still have your quiet corner when you need it. Our guides Justin, Luke and Matt get lots of praise for making everyone feel part of the group while respecting different fitness levels. You'll walk through old-growth rainforests, take in the views from Wineglass Bay and spot native wildlife as you please. The schedule gives you built-in company for meals and activities, plus free evenings in Launceston and Hobart to do your own thing. Solo guests often tell us they felt supported but never crowded.
The 10-day tours work brilliantly for couples - there's time to both explore and relax. You'll cruise past Bruny Island's rocky cliffs, share scallop pie picnics in lovely spots and walk through Tasmania's oldest national parks together. MONA gallery in Hobart adds a cultural twist to your journey. We've included stops at small wineries in the Coal River Valley and evenings in cozy harbor towns. Our travelers love that we handle all the planning while they focus on the good stuff - watching penguins waddle at dusk, tasting local cheese and wines, and making memories together.
The 4-day wild Tasmania tours pack a real punch for young travelers who want action. You'll hike up to Marion's Lookout at Cradle Mountain, swim in crystal-clear waters and sleep under a blanket of stars. The bush camps put you right where wombats and quolls roam, and the group BBQ dinners are always fun. Days are full with plenty of walking and hiking choices.
