What people love about Andes Mountains Tours
- Patagonia: Torres Del Paine ‘O’ Trek & El Chaltén – 13 Days
James went above and beyond to ensure my client had an exceptional experience, including making adjustments to the itinerary during travel. This was a bucket list, once in a lifetime experience for my client and he was thrilled with the service he received. As a travel advisor, I have to say that communication before, during and after my clients trip was outstanding. They made it very enjoyable to do business with them.
- Classic Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu - 4 Days
Wonderful tour guide & tour company with excellent service & great Peru experience! Loved that TreXeperience is a tour agency that supported the local community with local campsites, drivers, tour guides, horsemen, chefs. My tour guide (Hubert) is kind, helpfu, joyfull and informative throughout the entire trek and tour experience. He guided us well through the trek, shared the rich history, culture, food and local information about Peru and the Incan civilisation. He assisted me greatly from the briefing, to the trek, Machu Picchu and to the train & car back to my Cusco accommodation. The assistant chef (Manuel) and head chef (Lorenzo) were amazing in preparing delicious meals (International meals, Peru meals) and constantly delighted us with their surprises (prepared with minimal resources)! Highlight was the Peru cooking preparation of pachamanca (superb food for our lunch). Appreciate their sincerity and warmth in providing yummy meals for us to push us through the trek. Loved that the team ensured that our tents, sleeping bags, blankets were all set up as we arrived at our campsite every night.

Travel Andes Mountains your way
The Inca Trail ranks as our most requested Andean trek, and it makes sense why. Our travelers tell us the 4-day route hits just the right notes - tough enough to feel accomplished but packed with cultural discoveries along the way. You'll climb through misty forests and mountain passes up to 4,215 meters at Dead Woman's Pass, then descend to explore old ruins like Runkuracay and Sayacmarca. Looking to dodge the crowds? The Quarry Trail is gaining popularity lately - you'll likely have the path to yourself and get access to ancient tombs that most visitors miss completely. For something more intense, the Salkantay Trek takes 4 days and our clients love how it shifts from icy peaks to jungle-like cloud forest. Plus, you get to sleep under incredibly clear Andean skies at 3,900 meters.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursThe Andes offer way more than just hiking trails. Take our 10-day Peru Express - you'll slide down huge sand dunes at Huacachina oasis, watch penguins and sea lions at Ballestas Islands, then head up into the mountains. Many people go for our 8-day Amazon and Andes combo where you'll spot caimans on night walks in the rainforest before climbing up to explore Cusco's ancient sites. The local guides really know their stuff about medicinal plants in the Amazon, sharing healing practices that go back generations. What makes it special is how everything connects - one day you're learning traditional weaving in the Sacred Valley, the next you're wandering through Inca ruins.
See all Active toursExplore a wide diversity of bicycle tours through Andes Mountains. We have 27 adventures that vary from 3 days to 22 days. With the greatest number of departures in February, this is also the most popular time of the year.
See all Bicycle toursIf you're looking for comfort while exploring, our bus tours connect Lima to Cusco and Lake Titicaca smoothly. You'll stop at beautiful colonial churches like Andahuaylillas (locals call it the "Sistine Chapel of America"), explore pre-Inca ruins at Raqchi and browse authentic craft markets. Our guests love how these routes mix famous sites with lesser-known spots - one day you're learning traditional weaving in Chinchero, the next you're exploring Lake Titicaca's floating islands. Many tours include lovely personal touches like home visits on Taquile Island or hands-on cooking classes with local families.

Based on what our travelers tell us, these three Peru tour companies really deliver quality experiences, each with their own special touches. Kantu Peru Tours gets lots of praise for running smooth trips - their guides David and Fredy consistently get mentioned by name for really knowing their stuff and making everyone feel welcome. Trexperience has built quite a following for their Inca Trail trips. Their guides Robinson and Maribel are super experienced with the route, and they bring along talented chefs who somehow manage to cook amazing meals right there on the trail. What's particularly nice is how they handle any issues that pop up - which can happen when you're out in the mountains for several days. Waman Adventures offers solid value for what you pay. Their guide Percy Huaman keeps getting great feedback from clients, and they're really good about staying in touch and keeping everything straightforward. No confusing details or surprise changes - just clear communication and reliable service all the way through.

"An Unforgettable W-Trek with Una Raymi – Highly Recommended! We recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on the W-Trek in Torres del Paine with Una Raymi. I can honestly say it was an experience of a lifetime! Tour Guide: Francisco Francisco was an outstanding guide. His knowledge of the region, its history, and its natural surroundings was impressive, but what truly set him apart was his passion for the park and its conservation. He shared fascinating insights about the wildlife, geology, and Chilean culture. He also ensured everyone felt comfortable and safe during the trek, pacing the trek according to our abilities. His personality and philosophy created a relaxed atmosphere and made the whole experience particularly memorable. Chef: Yamila A huge shoutout to Chef Yamila, who made every meal on the trek feel like a gourmet experience. After long days of hiking, having a fresh, delicious meal waiting for us was a real treat. Yamila’s meals were not only nutritious but also creatively prepared, with a mix of local flavours and international flair. It was a pleasant surprise to enjoy such high-quality meals in the middle of the wilderness – everything from hearty stews to fresh salads and sweet treats! Yamila’s dedication to keeping the group fueled and happy was much appreciated and we certainly felt spoilt when eating our gormet meals amongst the other campers. The Trek Itself The W-Trek itself is nothing short of breathtaking. The landscapes are otherworldly – towering granite peaks, crystal-clear lakes, vast glaciers, and lush valleys. Each day brought new vistas, and with Francisco’s expertise, we were able to get the most out of each stop. Logistics & Support Una Raymi did a fantastic job coordinating the logistics of the trek. Everything was seamless, from the transportation to the campsites. The tents and gear were all of great quality, and we had the comfort of knowing that everything was taken care of, leaving us to focus on the adventure itself. The team was incredibly professional, making sure we had everything we needed and clarifying all our doubts and answering all of our questions. We had booked the refugios, but these had sold out and so we camped instead - this suited us perfectly well and we had privacy that we wouldn't have with a dorm room, but I would recommend that you remain flexible when making your bookings as this can happen during the high season. Extra money we'd paid for this was refunded promptly by the company. We also needed to change the order of the treks slightly due to challenging weather conditions on one of the days - again we benefitted from the expert insight of our guide to make this adjustment and were grateful for this, had we attempted things on our own we probably wouldn't have known to make this change and would have struggled with the weather. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better team to experience the W-Trek with. Francisco, Yamila, and the whole Una Raymi crew made this journey truly unforgettable. If you’re thinking about taking on the W-Trek, I wholeheartedly recommend Una Raymi – they’re experts in making this incredible trek as enjoyable and memorable as possible!

"An extremely well organised tour. Our guide Monica was an amazing guide. Monica went out of her way to make the trip safe, enjoyable and comfortable. Our chef Vidal made an amazing variety and quality of meals each day. Our chief porter Juan did a great job organising the porters. Katy in the office was good to deal with in the lead up to the hike. I highly recommend the 4 day Inka trail hike. We had 14 porters carrying 20kg each for the 6 paid customers and the attention to detail was awesome. The Inka ruins we saw along the way and MachuPicchu was a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Best places to start your Andes Mountains tour
Most of our travelers start their trip from Lima - about 40% choose this route, while a good third fly straight to Cusco to get used to the altitude before hitting the trails. Some interesting alternatives include Puerto Natales, Quito and also La Paz, each with their own special route to the mountains. Getting the timing right is pretty straightforward - book around 120 days ahead and you'll have no trouble getting permits for popular trails like the Inca Trail, plus you'll get the dates you want, especially if you're thinking about the busy months of June through August. The weather's most reliable from May to October, though quite a few of our experienced hikers prefer April-May or September-October when there are fewer people on the trails and the mountain flowers are in full bloom. Whatever time you pick, spend at least two days in Cusco getting used to the altitude - it's actually a great chance to explore local markets and try authentic Andean food while your body adjusts to the elevation.
Discover Andes Mountains tours for every budget
For budget-conscious Andean explorers, several well-rated tours stand out for their excellent value. Popular routes combine Lima's colonial center with Cusco's ancient sites and also Puno's floating islands. These typically run 7-10 days with early morning starts and full days of activities. Our travelers particularly praise the guides' knowledge and enthusiasm, even with challenging 3am wake-up calls for Rainbow Mountain treks. Budget tours often include practical touches like domestic flights between major cities, comfortable 3-star hotels and guided visits to places like the Maras salt ponds. Many feature unique experiences such as sandboarding in Huacachina's desert oasis and watching sea lions at the Ballestas Islands. The reviews consistently mention great value for money, especially when factoring in included meals and transportation.
The best luxury tours in the Andes really focus on getting the details right. You'll stay in carefully chosen 4-5 star hotels, often in converted historic mansions with excellent restaurants and also prime locations. Our clients love having private transfers throughout and the freedom to shape their days - like adding a relaxing massage after hiking or arranging an intimate pisco tasting session. The cultural experiences feel more personal too; you might learn traditional weaving in Chinchero then enjoy lunch at a high-end organic restaurant. Many tours include nice touches like having archaeological sites to yourself early morning or sipping cocktails as the sun sets over Cusco's main plaza.
