What people love about Chile Tours
- Patagonia: Torres Del Paine ‘W’ Trek – 5 Days
The walk was great, beautiful scenary. Not very difficult walking, tracks all well maintained. Guide (Cristina) was totally amazing. Refugios all good as well. Definitely would recommend.
- Patagonia: Torres Del Paine ‘W’ Trek – 5 Days
Tour was well organized, although for second day, probably due to unavailability of Refugio's, the scheduled trek was too long for me (32 km). Would have preferred more balance as the next few days were a lot shorter. Company handled our request for private transfer and also a change in Itinerary that we made during our trip with efficiency. Personal that accompanied us were very positive and professional. Had a very nice trip and would recommend.
- Patagonia: Torres Del Paine ‘W’ Trek – 5 Days
Thanks for an amazing time! The tour was well organised. The company was very flexible, when I had to move the date of the trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. Thanks!

Machu Picchu stands as the crowning jewel of Andean experiences, where our travelers consistently tell us that photographs simply can't capture its true scale and majesty. The ancient Inca citadel reveals itself differently throughout the day as clouds drift past, creating an almost mystical atmosphere that leaves visitors spellbound. The Inca Trail journey itself has become legendary among our customers - it's a genuine mountain adventure with challenging ascents, ancient stone pathways and nights spent camping under star-filled skies. Our guides, who share deep knowledge of Inca history and local ecology, have earned particular praise for turning what could be just a tough trek into an enriching cultural experience. Travelers often describe how the changing ecosystems along the trail, from cloud forests to alpine grasslands, create a sense of walking through multiple worlds in just a few days.
See all Andes Mountains toursThe raw magnificence of Patagonia unfolds along Torres del Paine's challenging trails, where our travelers consistently tell us the demanding hikes become their trip highlights. Mount Fitz Roy rises boldly above El Chalten, while Perito Moreno Glacier creates quite a spectacle with its massive ice blocks breaking into the waters below. Many of our clients connect day hikes to Laguna de los Tres and Laguna Torre, capturing amazing shots of clear alpine lakes with sharp peaks looming behind them. Getting up close to towering ice walls has become a must-do experience, with glacier boat trips letting you hear the ancient ice crack and move right in front of you. The region's wild residents make frequent appearances - you might spot guanacos grazing, Andean condors soaring overhead and if you're lucky, catch glimpses of pumas, especially during quieter periods in November and March.
See all Patagonia toursDiscover the ideal tour package for you through Chile Austral. On TourRadar you'll find trips starting from 3 days in length, and the longest tour is 23 days. The most popular month to go is March, which has the most tour departures.
See all Chile Austral toursTorres del Paine National Park really delivers - our travelers rate it among South America's best experiences. The granite towers rise straight up from glacier-fed lakes creating those views you've probably seen in photos and guides. Well-marked trails lead you to excellent tower viewpoints while boat trips take you right up to massive glaciers in nearby Bernardo O'Higgins Park. The park shows different faces through the seasons - winter brings snow-covered peaks with far fewer visitors but equally impressive views. Summer (December to February) gets busy with perfect hiking weather, but October-November or March-April hit that sweet spot with good conditions, plenty of wildlife and smaller crowds. Our visitors often tell us about amazing wildlife encounters - you'll spot guanacos grazing in the steppes and Andean condors circling overhead.

The Torres del Paine W Trek and O Circuit really show what Chilean trekking is all about. The W Trek takes 5 days through glacier-carved valleys and beneath massive peaks, while the O Circuit needs 8 days to loop the whole park - you'll spend nights camping under some incredibly clear skies. Our travelers can't stop talking about the French Valley's complete panorama and those close-up views of the granite towers at Base Torres. If you're not keen on carrying heavy gear, there's a solid 6-day option with shorter hikes and proper lodging; you'll still see the main attractions like Grey Glacier and the Cuernos viewpoint. The guides know their local wildlife inside out and handle weather shifts like pros, plus having porters take care of the camping setup and meals makes everything run smoothly.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursUp in the Atacama Desert and Chilean Altiplano, you'll find some proper adventures that mix culture with raw nature. The 5-day high plateau route takes you past ancient rock art in the Lluta Valley and up to Surire Salt Flat, where you might spot flamingos and vicuñas going about their day. Spend 7 days exploring the Atacama and you can float in the salty Cejar Lagoon, check out old petroglyphs and soak in hot springs. Down in Pucón, you've got a week of real variety - zip through the old-growth forests of Huilo Huilo Reserve or tackle the Trancura River's Class III and IV rapids. Our customers especially love hiking up Quetrupillán volcano and sliding back down; it's a proper workout with a fun payoff.

See all Coach / Bus toursThe most popular Chile journeys combine two incredible extremes - the Atacama Desert and Patagonia. You can see both highlights in 8 days, moving between Torres del Paine and San Pedro de Atacama where nights sparkle with stars and ancient geysers steam at dawn. Our guide Peter gets fantastic feedback from travelers for bringing scientific context to these otherworldly landscapes. If you want to really dive into the desert, there's a 9-day Atacama tour where you'll float weightlessly in mineral pools, capture the striped rock valleys on camera and walk through archaeological sites that go back 2,800 years. For something different, the 5-day Altiplano route takes you to the quieter Surire Salt Flat - it's a special spot where you can watch ñandús, flamingos and vicuñas while soaking in thermal waters. The pure Patagonia options include a 6-day Torres del Paine trip with glacier kayaking and the challenging Base Torres hike, while the 7-day Lake District journey from Pucón mixes volcano climbs, thermal springs and Class III rapids on the Trancura River.

Top operators in Chile
Looking at these tour companies operating in Patagonia, travelers have shared some really positive feedback about their experiences. Signature Tours gets consistent praise for running smooth trips, and their guides Kevin and Ariel keep coming up in reviews for being both friendly and really knowing their stuff. For those wanting more flexibility with their itinerary, Unu Raymi has been great at adapting - particularly James, who's quick to respond and helps people shape trips around what they want to see and do. Their guides Francisco and Christobal bring the W Trek routes alive with local knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for the region. OneSeed Expeditions takes a different approach with smaller groups, which our travelers say makes a big difference when you're out on the trails. Their guides Roberto, Jorge and Sofia bring strong expertise but keep things personal - you're not just another face in a big crowd. They've found that sweet spot between professional guiding and creating a comfortable, friendly atmosphere that works well in Patagonia's rugged landscape. What makes these companies stand out is how they balance structure and flexibility, expert knowledge and personal service. The guides aren't just showing you around - they're sharing their deep connection to these landscapes while making sure everyone's looked after properly on the trails.
- 4.5 (55 Chile reviews)
"Overall my tour was a great experience, mostly due to my amazing guide Yamila (I highly recommend finding out when Yamila is doing the tour and book then!) Our two cooks Sergio and Paulina were phenomenal as well. I booked the refugio but it was full so I ended up in a tent which was fine as the tent was spacious and the sleeping bag was very warm (plus you have more privacy in a tent). I will caution people to not get so hung up on the schedule, as things like weather can change very quickly and the guides might adjust the schedule to make the most of your time in Patagonia. I would recommend this tour if you’re adventurous, fit, and most importantly flexible. If you’re all of these things you will not regret your time on this tour.

Best places to start your Chile tour
Santiago serves as the main gateway with 40 of our travelers starting their Chile trip there, while Puerto Natales follows with 22 departures - it's particularly good if you're focusing on Torres del Paine. Calama, Punta Arenas and San Pedro de Atacama fill out the other popular starting points, giving you good access to both desert and Patagonian sites. Our booking patterns show you'll want to lock in your plans about 3.5 months (107 days) ahead, especially if you're traveling during peak times - December through February for Patagonia or June through August for Atacama. Our travelers often mention how the improved domestic flight network makes it easier than ever to experience both regions. They love the contrast between Santiago's sophisticated wine scene and Patagonia's wild landscapes. For the altitude conscious, we suggest taking a day to adjust in San Pedro de Atacama (2,400m) before heading up to spots like the Tatio Geysers (4,320m).

Looking to explore Chile without breaking the bank? Several well-designed tours hit the sweet spots. Take the 5-day Lake District program where you'll trek up Quetrupillán volcano - the fun part is sliding back down those snowy slopes. You'll also tackle Class III rapids on the Trancura River. The 6-day Torres del Paine trip packs in serious value with a trek to Base Torres and glacier sailing in Bernardo O'Higgins Park. Our travelers keep telling us how much they love exploring the ancient caves at Cerro Benitez and sitting down to a proper Patagonian lunch at Estancia Perales. Up in the high plateau, a 5-day Altiplano journey takes you through the Lluta Valley where mysterious geoglyphs dot the landscape. At Surire Salt Flat, you'll spot flamingos, Andean avocets and also vicuñas against a backdrop of snowy volcanoes.
Chile's high-end tours really deliver on the finer details. There's a fantastic 14-day journey connecting three regions with stays at places like Alto Atacama and Hangaroa Eco Village - our guests particularly love how the private guides mix scientific knowledge with cultural insights at each stop. Another solid option runs 10 days through Santiago's top hotels and restaurants, private tastings in Casablanca Valley and guided walks through Valparaíso's UNESCO streets. Wine lovers should check out the 6-day Private Wine & Food Experience. You'll visit ancient vineyards in Casablanca and San Antonio Valley, taste wines from traditional clay vessels in Maule Valley and explore what's now the world's largest organic winery.

The 8-day Torres del Paine 'O' Circuit is properly challenging - you'll cross suspension bridges over Grey Glacier and watch ice falls in Valle del Francés with your own guide. Want something shorter? The 5-day 'W' Trek lets you move at your own speed through the park's main highlights. Our customers really value having a dedicated guide who can explain the geology and spot wildlife like condors and also guanacos. If you prefer going solo, the self-guided W-Trek comes with detailed routes and pre-booked accommodations. For serious trekkers, the Epic Circuit covers 80 miles of quiet northern trails where you'll barely see another soul.

A week in Chile lets you really dig into three fascinating regions. From Pucón, the Lake District opens up with zip-lines cutting through old-growth forest at Huilo Huilo Reserve and peaceful dips in the Huife Hot Springs. You can tackle Class III rapids on the Trancura River and climb Quetrupillán volcano - our travelers love sliding back down those slopes after reaching the top. Easter Island tours reveal Rapa Nui culture bit by bit, from sunset views at Ahu Tahai to swimming at white-sand Anakena Beach. The divers in our groups rave about exploring the underwater cliffs, where visibility hits 60 meters on clear days. The Atacama Desert circuit takes in Cejar Lagoon's floating waters, Rainbow Valley's mineral-painted hills and also flamingo spotting at the salt flats, plus some quality time in canyon thermal pools.

The W Trek and O Circuit in Torres del Paine stand out for solo travelers looking to connect with nature and other hikers. You'll spend 4-5 days on the W Trek with pre-arranged camps and refugios, letting you focus purely on the walking while skilled guides point out soaring condors and explain the unique rock formations. For a bigger challenge, the 8-day O Circuit takes you north into quieter park sections where suspension bridges and the Dickson Glacier await. Up in the Atacama Desert, our solo guests love mixing active days exploring salt flats and ruins with social evening stargazing under some of the world's clearest night skies. The 6-day Santiago and wine country route works nicely too - you join small groups for vineyard visits and cooking classes while having time to wander the capital's local neighborhoods on your own.
Our multi-region tours hit the right notes for couples wanting both outdoor exploration and comfortable evenings. The 8-day combined Atacama and Patagonia trip shows you Chile's contrasts - from early morning geyser watching to paddling past blue icebergs on Grey Lake. Couples tell us they really value finishing active days at carefully picked lodges with good food and local wines. The 9-day Lake District program mixes volcano hikes and thermal springs with cultural visits around Puerto Varas. Adding the 6-day Easter Island extension lets you explore ancient moai sites and share sunsets at Tahai with island residents. The Santiago wine tours work perfectly for couples keen to discover Chile's food and wine scene while staying at boutique hotels.
Active itineraries with a social side draw our younger adult travelers. The full Torres del Paine Circuit is a favorite - you'll have challenging days crossing passes but the group energy makes it special. Our guests in their 20s and 30s particularly like camping under the stars and trading stories over dinner in the refugios. The 5-day W Trek packs in key highlights like hiking to the Torres base and exploring French Valley. Our Patagonia programs add variety with ice hiking on Grey Glacier, fjord kayaking and mountain biking options. San Pedro de Atacama trips attract younger travelers mixing outdoor activities with photography - sandboarding down huge dunes and capturing Moon Valley's changing colors at sunset.
Seniors value our tours balancing activity, comfort and cultural insights. The 9-day Atacama Desert exploration includes easy walks through old villages, nice lodging in San Pedro and fascinating archaeological visits. Our guests over 60 appreciate guides who explain the area's geology and indigenous heritage in depth. The 5-day Torres del Paine program offers choices - from challenging Base Torres hikes to gentler Grey Lake excursions. Easter Island draws culture-focused seniors with well-paced moai site visits and evenings of local food and traditional performances. Wine lovers enjoy Santiago Valley circuits combining vineyard tours, countryside drives and stays in historic haciendas.

Best time to visit Chile
- Spring 2025
September kicks off spring in Chile and opens up some fantastic hiking routes. The Torres del Paine W Trek is particularly good as wildflowers carpet the ground and baby guanacos take their first steps. Our 5-day version hits all the key spots - from the Base Torres climb to boat rides across Lake Pehoé. The Atacama tours work really well too, with pleasant temperatures that make exploring Moon Valley's rock formations and watching flamingos at the salt flats much more comfortable. We're seeing lots of travelers combine different regions in spring; you can easily mix vineyard visits in Casablanca Valley with desert exploration and also Patagonian hiking. The mountain trails are quieter than summer but you'll still get stable enough weather for activities like kayaking near Grey Glacier.

Summer brings long daylight hours to Patagonia from December through February, perfect for making the most of our full circuit treks. The Torres del Paine routes take you through old-growth forests, to starlit camping spots and over the challenging John Garner Pass - the views of the Southern Ice Field seem endless from up there. The W Trek variations are proving really popular; you can spend extra time in the French Valley watching massive chunks of ice crash down from the hanging glaciers. Around Santiago and the Lake District, we've got tours mixing winery visits with outdoor activities like boat trips on Todos Los Santos Lake with volcanoes rising all around. The Atacama tours run year-round, though summer nights are warmer for those incredible stargazing sessions under the world's clearest skies.

Fall transforms Chile's landscapes from March through May. The lenga forests in Patagonia turn deep red and gold, giving our O Circuit treks a completely different character. Our guides time the tough sections like Paso John Garner carefully to hit the best weather windows. The W Trek is getting more popular in autumn since the winds calm down and you get these incredible photo opportunities with the changing colors. Our Epic Patagonia tours work really well now - you can do glacier hikes and spot wildlife with fewer people around. Up in Atacama, the desert tours benefit from mild temperatures that are perfect for long walks through Moon Valley and visits to high-altitude lagoons where flamingos gather before winter sets in.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
The Torres del Paine 'O' Circuit really comes into its own during winter months June through August - you'll find fewer people on the trails and raw, pristine landscapes. Our 8-day route takes you across 50-meter suspension bridges over Grey Glacier and to camp spots right beside Dickson Glacier. The guides are brilliant at pointing out Magellanic woodpeckers in the lenga forests. Winter also brings perfect conditions to San Pedro de Atacama, where night skies are at their clearest. You can spot nebulae, star clusters and distant galaxies through professional telescopes. Many of our clients combine both regions in winter, starting in Santiago's wine valleys before heading south to trek the French Valley and finally north to catch the Tatio Geysers steaming in the dawn light.
