- CCC· March 6th, 2025The guides, Francisco and his team, were fantastic. The overall coordination by Unu Raymi Expedition was very poor, and the very reason my rating is so low and it was the exceptional effort from the guides that saves the day! Unu Raymi has to be reminded so often and often at the last minute before they take any action. take for example i have my arrival and departure flight to Puerto Natales in Dec 2024 for my tour end Feb and Unu never pass this information to the guides. it was the day before i arrived that the guide asked if i'm already there as the activities start at 7am the next day but my arrival is at 10 am. Apparently they were not told about this! As a result we did not make the trek to Bas Los Torres which was suppose to be the crown of the W trek.Show moreUnu Raymi Expeditions commented on this reviewHi Chin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent trekking experience with us. - ALAmar· February 7th, 2025Please DO NOT book with these guys. This was absolutely terrible. Classic bait and switch scam they pulled on us. They told us we would be doing the W-Trek, but the day before the trek told us we were going to skip an entire day and just do day hikes instead. One of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. I can show you multiple threads of me talking to this company, them lying, and then proceeding to blame it on last minute changes. Both the guides on the trip + the campsite that I called also backed us up and showed us that our itinerary was never a last minute change, but always planned, and the company purposely didn't tell us till the last minute so we couldn't do anything about it. As a large group of people, we definitely got scammed and lost a lot of money on this, so whatever you do, DO NOT book with these guys. I am happy to talk to you more about my experience, send you WhatsApp pictures of the conversations that were had - just message you. As a concerned, budget-friendly traveler, I am just trying to help you guys, so please stay away!! Best of luck friends!Show moreUnu Raymi Expeditions commented on this reviewThank you very much for taking the time to share your comments with us. - ASAnand· January 27th, 2025An Unforgettable W-Trek with Una Raymi – Highly Recommended! We recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on the W-Trek in Torres del Paine with Una Raymi. I can honestly say it was an experience of a lifetime! Tour Guide: Francisco Francisco was an outstanding guide. His knowledge of the region, its history, and its natural surroundings was impressive, but what truly set him apart was his passion for the park and its conservation. He shared fascinating insights about the wildlife, geology, and Chilean culture. He also ensured everyone felt comfortable and safe during the trek, pacing the trek according to our abilities. His personality and philosophy created a relaxed atmosphere and made the whole experience particularly memorable. Chef: Yamila A huge shoutout to Chef Yamila, who made every meal on the trek feel like a gourmet experience. After long days of hiking, having a fresh, delicious meal waiting for us was a real treat. Yamila’s meals were not only nutritious but also creatively prepared, with a mix of local flavours and international flair. It was a pleasant surprise to enjoy such high-quality meals in the middle of the wilderness – everything from hearty stews to fresh salads and sweet treats! Yamila’s dedication to keeping the group fueled and happy was much appreciated and we certainly felt spoilt when eating our gormet meals amongst the other campers. The Trek Itself The W-Trek itself is nothing short of breathtaking. The landscapes are otherworldly – towering granite peaks, crystal-clear lakes, vast glaciers, and lush valleys. Each day brought new vistas, and with Francisco’s expertise, we were able to get the most out of each stop. Logistics & Support Una Raymi did a fantastic job coordinating the logistics of the trek. Everything was seamless, from the transportation to the campsites. The tents and gear were all of great quality, and we had the comfort of knowing that everything was taken care of, leaving us to focus on the adventure itself. The team was incredibly professional, making sure we had everything we needed and clarifying all our doubts and answering all of our questions. We had booked the refugios, but these had sold out and so we camped instead - this suited us perfectly well and we had privacy that we wouldn't have with a dorm room, but I would recommend that you remain flexible when making your bookings as this can happen during the high season. Extra money we'd paid for this was refunded promptly by the company. We also needed to change the order of the treks slightly due to challenging weather conditions on one of the days - again we benefitted from the expert insight of our guide to make this adjustment and were grateful for this, had we attempted things on our own we probably wouldn't have known to make this change and would have struggled with the weather. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better team to experience the W-Trek with. Francisco, Yamila, and the whole Una Raymi crew made this journey truly unforgettable. If you’re thinking about taking on the W-Trek, I wholeheartedly recommend Una Raymi – they’re experts in making this incredible trek as enjoyable and memorable as possible!Show moreUnu Raymi Expeditions commented on this reviewHi Anand, thanks very much for your kind comments & reviews, we're honored to receive them. - TDTyler· January 13th, 2025Overall my tour was a great experience, mostly due to my amazing guide Yamila (I highly recommend finding out when Yamila is doing the tour and book then!) Our two cooks Sergio and Paulina were phenomenal as well. I booked the refugio but it was full so I ended up in a tent which was fine as the tent was spacious and the sleeping bag was very warm (plus you have more privacy in a tent). I will caution people to not get so hung up on the schedule, as things like weather can change very quickly and the guides might adjust the schedule to make the most of your time in Patagonia. I would recommend this tour if you’re adventurous, fit, and most importantly flexible. If you’re all of these things you will not regret your time on this tour.Show moreUnu Raymi Expeditions commented on this reviewHi Tyler, thanks very much for your kind comments & review. - BTBurhanuddin· December 30th, 2024Dear TourRadar Team, I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the W Trek tour I booked through your website, which took place from December 23, 2024. The tour was operated by Unu Raymi Expedition, headed by Mr. James. The original itinerary, as shared on the confirmation email, was as follows: Day 1: Puerto Natales - Torres del Paine - Lago Pehoe - Trekking Mirador Base Torres - Travel to Torres del Paine National Park - Hike to Mirador Base Torres - Meals: Boxed Lunch, Dinner - Accommodation: Camping Base Torres Day 2: Base Torres - Lago Pudeto - Paine Grande - Catamaran from Lake Pudeto to Paine Grande - Trek to Mirador Carreta in the afternoon - Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch, Dinner - Accommodation: Refugio or Camping Paine Grande Day 3: Trek to Waterfalls, Cuernos Mirador, Lago Nordenskjold - 13.5 km trek bordering Lake Nordenskjöld and Cerro Almirante Nieto - Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch, Dinner - Accommodation: Refugio or Camping Paine Grande Day 4: Trekking to Glacier Grey - Hike to Grey Glacier - Kayaking in Lake Grey (afternoon) - Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch, Dinner - Accommodation: Refugio or Camping Grey or Paine Grande Day 5: Trekking to Glacier Grey - Puerto Natales - Catamaran to Pudeto, then bus to Puerto Natales - Meals: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch However, the actual experience was far from what was promised. Here are the issues we faced: - Day 1: We reached Paine Grande at 5 PM and did not hike on that day. - Day 2: We went to Grey Glacier and returned. The operator informed us that we would need to hike to Mirador Frances and back to Paine Grande the next day, which was not part of the original itinerary. - Day 3: We decided to hike to Frances and stay overnight, incurring additional expenses for camping fees, meals, and other costs (approximately USD 150). - Day 4: We hiked from Camp Frances to Central, incurring additional expenses for meals (approximately USD 75). - Day 5: We paid for transfers from the park to Puerto Natales (approximately USD 25). Furthermore, the operator cancelled bookings for two members of our group, Siddhant and Tanya, on Day 2 without explanation. I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Unu Raymi Expedition and the lack of communication from their team. The changes to the itinerary and lack of support caused significant hardship, including physical and mental strain, and financial losses. I request that TourRadar takes immediate action to: 1. Reimburse us for the additional expenses incurred due to the changes in the itinerary (approximately USD 250). 2. Obtain compensation from Unu Raymi Expedition for the hardship and distress caused during the trek (a reasonable amount to be determined). 3. Penalize Unu Raymi Expedition for their poor service and lack of communication. 4. Review and verify the original itinerary and log changes to ensure that the operator did not alter the itinerary to conceal their mistakes. I hope that TourRadar will take our complaints seriously and take necessary actions to prevent such incidents in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Show moreUnu Raymi Expeditions commented on this reviewHi, thanks for your comments. - SCSaankari· December 10th, 2024Overall, the organization provided me with a wonderful W circuit experience! Overall good responsiveness prior to the trek. The guides were wonderful, especially Edgar (Lalo), as he cooked wonderful meals and explained things about the park’s history, as well as the flora and fauna. Despite booking Refugios, I ended up having to stay in tents each night but the provided sleeping bags and tents were great quality. I have many amazing memories to look back to for years to come :)Show moreUnu Raymi Expeditions commented on this reviewHi Anusha, thanks very much for your kind comments & review. - Amanda· December 2nd, 2024First, I want to separate the actual trek experience from the experience with the tour operator. The trek itself was great, and both our guide Camilo and our cook/porter Lalo were highly experienced and very friendly, took good care of us, and also shared a lot of local knowledge and their life experiences with us. Lalo's cooking was also something to look forward to at the start and end of each day. That said, there were many points along the trek where the tour operator failed to live up to expectations. These were a few: 1) We ended up not doing a portion of the W trek (between Central and Frances) due to supposed "non-availability" of accommodation at Frances/Cuernos. The tour operator claimed that it was high season and they were unable to secure reservations at those sites. 2) Despite planning (and paying) for Premium Camping for 3 nights and a refugio for 1 night, we ended up with regular camping for 1 night and at a refugio for 3; again, probably a function of the operator not being able to secure accommodation. Granted, the refugios were more comfortable, but we were looking forward to experiencing the elevated camping arrangements. 3) This also meant that we ended up paying for an additional ferry journey due to the itinerary changes, to take us from Pudeto to Paine Grande. 4) None of this was communicated to us prior to the trip, and we only found out a week before, when the guide informed us of this directly. If, as the operator claimed, that the bookings were not able to be secured (esp with the window opening in Aug/Sep), it should have been made known earlier. When we enquired, the operator made it seem as if we were unreasonable and inflexible for expecting the itinerary that was agreed on, and suggested that this would only happen "in a perfect world". 5) Similarly, we asked the operator to arrange for a day trip to an estancia on our final day. This was replaced, again due to "non-availability", by a half-day horse riding experience that was very far from what we had originally expected. Again, when asked, the operator claimed this was due to high season and suggested it could not have been done. Worse, we found out that the actual booking had been made only TWO days before our actual visit day. At that point, we lost trust in the operator and felt that there were integrity issues at hand. It also felt as if they had only scrambled to book our trek at the last minute, either because they ignored or forgot it. Lastly, price-wise, we know from checks that the full-day visit is about USD233 pp (which we thought was catered for in the price we paid), while the horse-riding they booked for us was only USD83 pp. We first made this booking with Unu Raymi in APRIL 2024, for a trek in NOV 2024. This was plenty of time to communicate any scheduling challenges or accommodation non-availability to us. There was also no reason why the estancia visit could not have been booked early, especially when this was something we could have done ourselves directly with the estancia. We trusted this process to the operator, and they let us down. It was a long flight for us to get to Patagonia for this trek, and even though we went with the flow of things and overall enjoyed ourselves, there were also many small disappointments. So unless you specifically enjoy being surprised by changes at the last minute to your planned trip, I would not recommend this tour operator. While the operator has also said that they would look into a refund of unbooked elements, esp for the non-estancia visit, thus far there also has been no further communication. We are still waiting to see if there is going to be any service recovery done.Show moreUnu Raymi Expeditions commented on this reviewHi Amanda, thanks for your review!
