- 5 Days Discover Rwanda & Gorilla Trekking Adventure

This is a really good tour. If you have already seen gorillas, are not interested in gorillas or feel gorillas should be left in peace, this is a brilliant tour to get you out and about in Rwanda. Lots of highlights in this incredible country. Strongly recommended.
- 4 Days Rwanda Experience with Golden Monkey Excursion
I and my friend and I booked for a 3 days Gorilla trekking trip to Rwanda. Yvonne handled our requests professionally and customized a budget suiting us. More importantly we were able to secure Gorilla trekking permits discounted for African residents in a short period of time and were facilitated with PCR tests required to trek gorillas at a local hospital near the Volcanoes Park. Emmanuel, my driver was outstanding as spending time with him was amazing.Apart from Gorillas, the company was able to organize us village visits whereby we spent time with local communities. Thank you team for organizing, highly appreciated and recommended. Greetings from Cairo
What our customers ask about Rwanda Small Group Tours
What are the main advantages of choosing a small group tour in Rwanda?
Small group tours in Rwanda provide flexibility and personalized experiences that larger groups can't match. Travelers benefit from better wildlife spotting opportunities in places like Nyungwe Forest National Park where smaller numbers create less disturbance during chimpanzee tracking. The intimate size allows for quick changes to the day's plan whether it's spending extra time at Lake Kivu or exploring the Genocide Memorial in Kigali at a thoughtful pace. A TourRadar traveler shared: "having a small group meant we could stop whenever we wanted for photos and our guide Ronald could give us detailed information about Rwanda's history and wildlife."
What accommodation types are available on small group tours in Rwanda?
Rwanda's small group tours feature a range of boutique lodges and upscale tented camps located near key attractions. Accommodations like the Ruzizi Tented Camp in Akagera National Park with its 9 eco-luxury tents provide an exclusive experience while Mountain Gorilla View Lodge offers private cottages close to Volcanoes National Park. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The intimate lodges like Nyungwe House made our wildlife encounters feel even more special with their personalized service and stunning locations overlooking the forest."
How do transportation arrangements work for small group tours in Rwanda?
Transportation on Rwanda's small group tours centers around 4x4 safari vehicles equipped with pop-up roofs. Each vehicle carries 4-6 guests ensuring space and good views for wildlife watching. On routes like the 2.5-hour drive between Kigali and Volcanoes National Park groups split between vehicles so everyone gets window access. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Having just 4 people in our safari vehicle made game drives in Akagera so much more enjoyable - everyone had great views and could easily ask questions to our guide."
How far in advance should I book a small group tour to Rwanda?
Booking a Rwanda small group tour requires planning 6-12 months ahead particularly due to limited gorilla permits. Smaller properties such as Nyungwe House and Mountain Gorilla View Lodge fill up early in peak seasons. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We booked our small group tour 8 months ahead and were glad we did as the best intimate lodges and preferred gorilla trekking dates were already filling up."
What level of fitness is required for small group tours in Rwanda?
Rwanda's small group tours need moderate to good fitness especially for wildlife activities. Gorilla and chimp trekking involves 2-6 hours of hiking on challenging terrain. The Mount Bisoke climb takes 6-7 hours to reach its 3711-meter summit. A TourRadar traveler shared: "Being in a small group meant we could trek at a comfortable pace with our guide adjusting to everyone's abilities."
What's the best time of year for small group tours in Rwanda?
The prime seasons for Rwanda small group tours fall during the dry periods of June-September and December-February. These months offer reliable conditions for gorilla encounters at Volcanoes National Park and forest walks in Nyungwe. Booking data shows tours during these periods particularly at properties like Kigali Serena Hotel and Mountain Gorilla View Lodge tend to reach capacity early.
