What people love about Rovaniemi Tours
- Lapland 7 days in Santa Claus Town on the Arctic Circle!
My husband and I went on this trip and we must admit, this is one of the best vacations we have ever had. We had so many first-time experiences and learned new things. It started out by us flying in to Helsinki where we were met by the tour guide Paul. He was very knowledgeable about everything in the city and it’s history .He took us all around the city and showed us many cultural and important sites. We also went to a little market area and had some hot salmon soup which was absolutely delicious. Later on he met us at the train station and we got on the train for our overnight ride to Rovaniemi. The overnight train ride was absolutely delightful. It was a new experience for both of us but the gentle hum of the train and the motion made us sleep like babies. The next morning we were met at the train station by Serena, who would be our guide that day. She got settled at the place we were going to be staying, Santa Sport and then we went to Santa Claus village. She toured us all around this winter wonderland filled with twinkling lights and also took us across the Arctic Circle which we got a certificate to take home to prove it. Then we had a very special lunch that was very warming and delicious. We had time to ourselves to tour the many souvenir shops and just enjoy all the special attractions that were offered there. We also had a wonderful tour at the Ranua Zoo which was guided by the lovely Daria. She was a real sweetheart. We wanted her to escort us around the zoo and she was very well knowledgeable on all the different animals and their histories and the whole layout of the park. Not to mention she was an awesome photographer and was taking pictures of my husband and I at the various different areas. We liked the igloo you could go into and they had an ice bar inside where you could get a hot Beverage or even a shot of something to warm you up. It was a wonderful day at the zoo. One of the other tours we went on was icefishing. This was a first time for both my husband and I. We had to walk through the woods and finally got to the lake which was so beautiful. It seemed like it went on forever. There was a little shanty there that we our wonderful guide, Ismael built a beautiful fire for us. We all went out on the ice and took turns with a manual drill trying to get through the ice into the water. The ice was really really thick that day and even though we were not able to penetrate the ice or catch any fish, It was a marvelous experience and our tour guide was so wonderful and interesting with all kinds of stories. He then made a campfire lunch for all of us with sausages, hot tea, marshmallows and other goodies. Another fantastic day we had was at the Reindeer Ranch. Our tour guide for that trip was Dennis. He made the whole trip absolutely fantastic even though the whole experience was truly amazing. There were Reindeer everywhere and we got a whole tour of the reindeer Ranch from the farmer that owned the place. We even got to go on a ride and guide the slide with the reindeer pulling us. We got a license to operate a reindeer sled which we got to take home with us. The tour ended with a trip inside the little cabin where it was nice and toasty and we had hot tea and cookies while we asked questions and got more information on the Ranch. That afternoon we went to the husky farm. This was lead by our wonderful tour guide Ranner. He was fantastic and added humor and insight to the whole trip. He also took many wonderful photographs of us. One of the last tours we had was our trip to search for the northern lights.Dennis was our guide again for this trip and he was fantastic and did everything right on track. He explained the whole northern lights and made sure we all knew what to do and where we were going We walked through the woods towards evening and went to the lake once again. The sky was absolutely beautiful although we did not see the northern lights we return to the little campsite area and had a wonderful campfire barbecue with sausages, Soup, hot tea, marshmallows and other little wonderful treats. We met many nice people on this tour and had a fantastic time. Our accommodations were absolutely fantastic. We stayed at the play Santa sport which is where all the Olympians train. Our room was very comfortable and spacious and the cleaning service came in every day and tidied everything up. The free meals for breakfast weredelicious and so healthy and nutritious. There also was a cafeteria in Santa Sport where you could go at other times for a bite to eat or snack or even a glass of wine or a shot of something to warm the soul. One thing great about Santa sport was that not only was it a fantastic accommodation but also if you got bundled up you could walk to the town area in about 15 or 20 minutes and enjoy everything the town had to offer. We walked a few times when we had time on our own and went to a couple Lapland restaurants, ice bars, and many souvenir shops. The whole town was decorated with lights above and all around everywhere you looked. It was very magical. I would highly recommend her to anybody either a couple or families to go experience everything I has to offer. I am even thinking that we should go back again. It was that great.
- Rovaniemi Winter Experience
Great tour. We had a fantastic time as there was plenty of fun experiences as well as time to rest and relax.
- Aurora Borealis & Glass Igloo
Great basic tour that organises all of your transport and accommodation, but doesn’t really feel like a group tour in that there is lots of free time/self-paced exploring or availability to do additional activities, which was a big plus for us. We went to the frozen waterfalls nearby and can highly recommend! Absolutely stunning! Our tour guide Alain was absolutely delightful and very helpful, even waiting at the airport the whole last day to make sure everyone got on their flights with ease. Buffet style breakfast included in the accommodation was excellent! The husky sled ride was a definite highlight for us. The only disappointing aspect was that the glass igloos were covered with ice and you couldn’t see the sky at all. Not sure if there was an issue with the heated glass, but we also stayed in other glass ceiling accommodation and there was no glass on the ice, even in -22C! Overall a very good experience.
