Australia Safari Reviews
- 3 Day Kakadu Litchfield 4WD Adventure (Camping)
Excellent tour, Elliott was extremely knowledgeable and added an authentic traditional aspect to complement the natural beauty of the country, while maintaining a fun atmosphere.
- Outback Safari (11 Days)
Tour guide & coach driver very good. Accommodation very good. Not sure how it could be organised on this tour, but needed a bit more down time or time on our own to relax. Out early most days & late afternoon arrival at motels.
- Eye On The Reef - Marine Conservation Program on the Great Barrier Reef
I was on No Limit Adventures' Marine Conservation program "Eye on the Reef" and it was the most fascinating thing I have done so far. I was able to take my Diving certificate and thereafter take part of the great conservation work they are doing on the spectacular Great Barrier Reef. I can highly recommend it to others. It is so interesting and it makes you think a lot about the marine life and how easily it is destroyed. By the way the guys working at No Limit Adventures are the best ever they were our guides in Australia for a month and I simply had the best time of my life and I learned so much
What our customers ask about Australian Safari Tours
What are the best months to see wildlife on an Australian safari tour?
Australia's wildlife viewing opportunities change with the seasons and regions. The dry season from May to October brings excellent wildlife spotting in Kakadu National Park's Yellow Waters Billabong where visitors regularly see saltwater crocodiles and native birds. For those interested in marine life the March to July period along Western Australia's coast offers prime whale shark encounters. Most safari lodges such as the Crocodile Hotel in Jabiru and Cicada Lodge in Katherine remain open year-round. A TourRadar traveler notes "the wildlife viewing at Yellow Waters Billabong was incredible - we saw crocodiles jabirus and so many bird species in their natural habitat."
What type of accommodation can I expect on an Australian safari?
Australian safari accommodations range from basic to luxurious with options to suit different budgets. Visitors can stay in permanent safari tents with proper beds at places like Autopia Tours' Kakadu safari camps or opt for upscale lodges. The Indigenous-owned Cicada Lodge in Nitmiluk National Park and the distinctive Crocodile Hotel in Jabiru represent some unique choices. A TourRadar traveler shared "The accommodation at Cicada Lodge was exceptional - the perfect blend of comfort and immersion in nature with amazing views of the surrounding landscape."
How many people are typically in an Australian safari tour group?
Australian safari operators keep their groups small to enhance wildlife viewing experiences. WA NT Tours typically carries 12 passengers per vehicle while Autopia Tours accommodates 15-21 travelers. Premium operators like Inspiring Journeys often run even smaller groups. One TourRadar traveler observed "Having just 12 people in our group at Kakadu National Park meant we could get closer to wildlife without disturbing them and our guide could give everyone personal attention."
What specialized wildlife experiences are included in Australian safaris?
Tours frequently feature close encounters with native wildlife. Common activities include crocodile spotting on Yellow Waters Billabong cruises visits to the Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs and penguin observation at Phillip Island. Some itineraries add special experiences like Devils@Cradle sanctuary visits or whale shark swimming at Ningaloo Reef. A TourRadar traveler noted "The behind-the-scenes visit to the Wildlife Hospital at Australia Zoo was incredible - seeing their conservation work firsthand was a real highlight."
What should I pack for an Australian safari tour?
Pack practical items for outdoor activities including sturdy walking shoes breathable clothing and sun protection gear. Bring quick-dry clothing and swimwear for water activities in places like Kakadu National Park or the Daintree. Evening temperatures can drop so pack a light jacket especially when staying at outdoor accommodations like Cicada Lodge. A TourRadar traveler advised "Don't forget your camera with a good zoom lens - we had amazing wildlife photography opportunities at Yellow Waters Billabong and throughout Kakadu."
What level of fitness is required for an Australian safari tour?
Most tours need moderate fitness as daily activities often include walking on uneven ground. Kakadu National Park features walks ranging from simple boardwalks to challenging 3km Grade 6 hikes. The Valley of the Winds walk at Kata Tjuta covers 2-5km of rocky terrain. Tour operators like Autopia Tours and Inspiring Journeys offer various activity levels for different abilities. A TourRadar traveler shares "While some walks were challenging our guide Elliott was extremely knowledgeable and adjusted the pace to suit everyone's abilities."
