What people love about Vietnam Tours in August
- 11 Days Allure Of Vietnam From The North To The South
First time in Vietnam so it was great doing a planned tour, jam packed adventures. Ha Long bay was amazing however the day we set off on the cruise was very foggy but the next day was clear and beautiful. Hoi A was amazing!! We would come back to Hoi An again in a heart beat. Thank you to Sophia for organising everything for us and our tour guides were fantastic, very knowledgeable and an awesome sense of humour. We tried food we would never buy off the menu and ate at local restaurants we even tried mastering making their traditional foods (not as easy as they make it look. Thank you ☺️
- Vietnam - 10 Days. Departure every Monday and Sunday from Saigon
As someone who’d never done a completely organised tour round a country, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I usually like to explore on my own time and plan my own itinerary. However, I found myself pleasantly surprised that this was a great way to see the best of Vietnam. For context I am a solo, 28 year old, male traveller. I upgraded to the 5* hotel option as a sort of birthday present to myself and I did the tour in August 2023. The tour itself is intense and you move around a lot over the 10 days. I thought I would have more free time within the tour to do my own thing but the days are intense and the weather is hot so you end up not feeling like doing too much. I also went during low season, so understandably there were fewer travellers booked on to the tour which was a bit of a shame. You get put in with others not on your exact tour for the day trips so you do have company and people to mix with, it’s just not necessarily always the same people. I’m sure this is a bit different during high season where the tour has more people booked onto it. Ho Chi Minh You can arrive on the first day at your own leisure and someone is waiting to pick you up from the airport, it was seamless and a really great service. I stayed at the Majestic Hotel which was clean and had very friendly staff, breakfast was extensive and good, overlooking the river to make a beautiful view. The tours in HCM were very well organised and we had the sort of tour guide I prefer, that is one who moves relatively quickly through the sights and shares punchy but informative sound bites. One notable omission from the tour in HCM is the War Museum (in my eyes a must-see) but I did manage to squeeze it in on my own time on the morning of Day 4 (before the flight to Hoi An). Both tours on days 2 and 3 take you outside of HCM so I’d say you don’t get a great feel for the city itself whilst there. If you’re able to stand the heat though, perhaps you might have the energy to go around a bit more than I did. Hoi An After flying in to Da Nang there is someone to pick you up from the hotel and drop you off at the hotel, in my case Koi Resort and Spa. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are stunning. You have access to a beach just 50m away or choose to stay by the pool. My only minor wish was that we were a little closer to Hoi An the town as this was my favourite place of the tour by some way. The town is old and charming. An old trading city, it was a melting pot of cultures and skills and still is today. There are a crazy number of beautiful boutique shops all selling things people might actually want to buy. The town is famous for its tailors and you can get really high quality tailored clothing. However, the stay here is short and it’s unlikely you’ll manage to get something made in time before you leave which is a shame. One must see this place at night and day for plenty of photo opportunities. The other tour on day 6 takes you to My Son, although because we had a flight that day, the tour was a bit rushed. One notable omission from Hoi An was the chance to visit the Golden Bridge in the BaNa Hills - if you can stretch to a longer tour, it may be worth it to see this. Hanoi In Hanoi i stayed in the Du Parc hotel, it was nice but a little out of the way of the main sights and buzz of Hanoi. The first full day in Hanoi was packed full of things to do, being transported across the city seamlessly to visit all the sights. There was no way you’d see all those things going around on your own. The following day you head Ha Long Bay for a boat cruise. The cruise itself was very enjoyable with chances to kayak, visit a beach and a cave. The scenery around the bay was breathtaking and is a must see for anyone in the area. Having said that, the cruise was quite a short affair, you step onto the boat at around noon and are off it by 11am the next day. No fault of the tour company, just if you have longer, I’d recommend taking an extra day. After the cruise you’re transported back to Hanoi where you’re free to do whatever you like before flying out the next day, although after the initial tours on the first full day, I wasn’t sure what else to do! Overall it was a fantastic tour, packed full with amazing things to see and do. On top of all of that it was seamlessly organised, airport transfers, hotels, and day tours all stress free making the typical sightseeing holiday much more relaxing. You definitely would not do as much in the same time format on your own. Having said that, if you have more than 10 days to spare for your holiday, I’d recommend taking longer to see Vietnam. I just did the highlights but from what I can gather there’s so much more to see (a good excuse to come back). The only point I’d make is that if you know you’re someone who really enjoys taking things in and doing things on their own time then a tour may not be for you as you are scheduled to the max. If you’re a tour person and only have 10 days, this is the tour for you - Legend Travel Group were awesome and I’m sure they have other tours even if this one doesn’t quite suit!
