What people love about Norway Tours for Seniors
- Scenic Norway
A very good and enjoyable tour led by an excellent guide (Peter) whose quiet informative and often humorous style was a key plus for our holiday. Also excellent was the driver Maciek and his coach - a very smooth journey up and down fjords, mountains and through all those tunnels. Hotels were a bit variable as below: OSLO - Thon Europa. Good location but small room and food was average. Staff helpful. RAULAND - hotel seemed a bit 'out of season' and the decor was a bit jaded. The pool complex was shut due to an electrical fault. Food average - not much choice at breakfast. BERGEN - Scandic Orner - smart business hotel but rooms very small. breakfast buffet excellent STALHEIM - best location for scenic views. Hotel seems a bit dated and decor a bit tired but has great atmosphere. Food OK Loen - Alexandra - best hotel by a mile. Wonderful pool complex. Food choice good and high quality. Lillehammer Scandic - big, busy resort hotel. Rooms were cramped but food choice and quality was good. Oslo - Scandic Victoria - Great location but a disappointing hotel. Rooms again small and food choice and quality poor. When I asked for some cream or ice cream to accompany my dessert (a piece of dry cake) I was told there wasn't any - really? Thankfully the weather behaved itself after a damp day or so in Bergen. I think the itinerary worked well and the mix of boat trip, train ride and fjord drives gave us a wonderful taster of Scenic Norway.

What our customers ask about Norway Tours for Seniors
What is the best time of year for seniors to visit Norway?
Summer months from June through August offer the most favorable conditions for senior travelers with mild temperatures between 60-70°F and extended daylight hours. During this peak season the Vision of the Fjords and Norwegian Fjords tours run frequently. For those looking to avoid crowds at places like Geirangerfjord May or September can be good alternatives with pleasant weather and fewer tourists.
What type of accommodation can seniors expect on Norway tours?
Most tours provide centrally located 3-4 star hotels that prioritize accessibility and comfort. The Thon Hotel Opera in Oslo and Fretheim Hotel in Flåm represent typical accommodations with modern amenities and easy access to local attractions. Guest feedback on TourRadar often mentions properties like the Clarion Collection Aurora in Tromsø which offers included breakfasts and rooms designed for older travelers' needs.
What medical facilities and support are available during Norway tours?
Norway maintains high-quality medical centers in major destinations like Oslo Bergen and Tromsø with English-speaking staff. Companies such as Scenic Luxury Cruises and Collette follow strict medical assistance protocols. Tour accommodations are typically near medical facilities and guides receive first aid training to handle basic medical needs.
Are meals suitable for seniors with dietary restrictions?
Norwegian dining establishments readily accommodate special dietary needs including gluten-free diabetic and low-sodium requirements. Hotel chains like Thon and Clarion Collection are known for their varied breakfast buffets. A TourRadar guest noted: "The included breakfasts were amazing with lots of healthy choices." Tour operators can arrange special meals when notified in advance and guides help identify suitable dining options during free periods.
