- 21 Day Morocco, Egypt and Jordan Tour
AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. This tour was truly the trip of a lifetime. I traveled as a single woman with my female friend, the two of us were the only ones signed up for the tour on the particular dates we went so it ended up being a private tour for the two of us. We felt incredibly safe with our local guides and drivers who were beyond accommodating and kind. Shoutout to Magdy who coordinated with us prior to the trip, he answered my many questions and made sure everything was super smooth and planned out for us. Airport transfers, accomodations, and meals were all amazing. Tours of each city and historical site gave us insight into the history and culture. We also learned a lot about how locals think and experienced things we could not possibly do on our own. We were incredibly lucky to be traveling when we were, despite the hot summer weather, as our visits had few tourists and we felt we had the whole place to ourselves. The obvious best experiences included the Great Pyramids, Abu Simbel, the many attractions of Luxor, Chefchaouen, Merzouga and camping in the Sahara desert, Petra and Wadi Rum. Hotels were great and included delicious meals (especially the dinner at Dades Valley in Morocco). We visited many local artisan attractions such as a ceramics establishment, tannery, papyrus factory, etc. and never felt pressured into purchasing anything. Our guides did a great job in explaining everything we would need to know prior to each visit and ensured we were comfortable and safe. If you are considering this tour, I highly recommend you do it as you will gain knowledge and experiences that you cannot find elsewhere.

Exploring the Arab countries for the first time was an enchanting experience, immersing us in a tapestry of diverse cultures and profound history. Heartfelt gratitude to our outstanding tour guide for adding that extra touch of magic to our adventure! Cheers!

When exploring the Nile, our travelers consistently pick the smaller Dahabiya boats over big cruise ships. These traditional sailing vessels make their way to quiet spots like El Kab and Gebel el Silsila that larger boats can't reach. The 13-day trip includes 4 nights on the water, where you'll eat dinner under open skies and watch local farmers work their fields along the banks. Our guests love the crew's warm welcome, though it's worth noting these historic boats don't have air conditioning. You can choose between a focused 7-day "Queen Cleopatra" river journey or an 8-day option that adds some beach time in Hurghada by the Red Sea.
See all River Cruise toursA hiking tour in North America brings adventure around every corner, from exploring ancient sites to riding a camel into the ochre desert, overnighting in a Berber village, and hiking in the Atlas Mountains.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursMorocco and Egypt pack in plenty for active types. From Marrakech, you can head out on multi-day trips through the Atlas Mountains, sleeping in Berber camps and riding camels across the Erg Chebbi dunes. One day you're exploring old kasbahs, the next you're cooking with local families - our travelers really like this mix. Egypt keeps you moving too: you'll go from pyramids to Nile cruises and then snorkeling in Hurghada's Red Sea waters. Many guests go for the early morning balloon flights above Luxor's Valley of the Kings, and some take 4x4s out into the Western Desert for something different.

Intrepid and Vacations To Go both excel at showing travelers the real North Africa. Our cyclists who've gone with Intrepid in Morocco tell us the guides Said and Faisl make all the difference - they know every backroad, local cafe and hidden spot worth visiting. The food gets constant mentions too; you're not just tasting tourist versions but actual home-cooking and street food that locals love. Vacations To Go has really figured out how to handle the logistics across Morocco, Egypt and Jordan - which matters a lot when you're dealing with busy sites like the Pyramids and Petra. Their coordinator Magdy comes up in reviews again and again for making pre-trip planning smooth and straightforward. What's particularly useful is how their local guides know exactly when to visit major sites, so you're not stuck in the worst crowds or midday heat. Both companies nail the basics while adding those extra touches that turn a good trip into a great one. Whether it's Intrepid's cycling routes that take you through villages tourists rarely see, or Vacations To Go's knack for timing visits just right at ancient monuments - they've clearly put in the work to understand what makes these destinations tick. The guides deserve special mention because they're not just showing you around; they're helping you understand the culture, history and daily life in ways you simply couldn't get on your own. Plus they handle all those small daily decisions that can make or break a trip in this region.

For travelers mindful of costs, our Egypt tours deliver solid value without cutting corners. The 10-day route from Cairo to the Red Sea keeps you comfortable in 4-star hotels and includes that lovely traditional felucca sailing on the Nile - much more interesting than the big tourist boats. Many of our guests opt for the focused 7-day Queen Cleopatra tour where expert guides really bring the Valley of the Kings and other ancient sites to life. There's also a smart option that swaps overnight trains for domestic flights, which most find worth the extra spend. These tours cover breakfast and some other meals, though you'll want about 200-600 EGP handy for entrance tickets.
The ultra-luxury Agatha Christie inspired tour sets the standard for high-end Egyptian travel. You'll get private pyramid-side dining at sunset, nights at the grand Mena House and exclusive Nile sailing on a traditional Dahabiya - just your group onboard. Another excellent choice features the Steigenberger Nile cruise with pool-view cabins and top-notch dining. Our carefully selected Egyptologist guides bring deep local knowledge and connections, often arranging early morning temple visits when you'll have the place nearly to yourself. These tours include domestic flights instead of trains and unique experiences like private sunset camel rides and intimate dinners with monument views.

Whether you're on a traditional Dahabiya or boutique cruise ship, the Nile portion stays intimate. Our Egyptologist guides adapt the pace to match group interests, and we often hear how our travelers make lasting friendships sharing felucca meals and desert sunsets together.

The 7-day Queen Cleopatra tours hit all the key spots in Egypt, starting right in Cairo. You'll get a full day with the pyramids and Egyptian Museum before heading south for 3 nights on the Nile between Aswan and Luxor. The river cruise stops at Philae Temple, Kom Ombo and other ancient sites along the way. Our travelers especially like the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut's Temple visits in Luxor - the guides know exactly when to arrive to dodge the busy times. It's a solid choice for families and first-timers who want to see Egypt's main sites at a good pace.
Don't miss out on visiting:
Malaga, Tarifa, Tangier, Fes, Meknes, Marrakesh, Casablanca, Rabat
Ten-day Egyptian journeys give you more room to breathe. You'll spend 2-3 days in Cairo exploring the pyramids, sphinx and museum collections before a longer 4-night Nile cruise. The extra time makes a real difference - you can properly wander through Karnak Temple and actually sit to watch the sun set over the Nile. Many tours add time in Hurghada by the Red Sea, where our guests love having a few days to swim, snorkel and take it easy after all the temple visits. The cruise boats are quite comfortable and the relaxed schedule lets you really take in Egypt's ancient story. History buffs and photographers particularly appreciate not having to rush between sites.
Don't miss out on visiting:
Dubai, Cairo, Aswan, Kom Ombo, Edfu, Luxor
Demographics
The Madrid-to-Lisbon route through Morocco is especially good if you're traveling solo. You'll share the ferry ride across the Gibraltar Strait with other travelers and explore Marrakech's buzzing Jemaa el-Fnaa square together. Our solo travelers tell us they love the included group dinners - it's an easy way to get to know everyone. Another route that works well runs from Casablanca up the Atlantic coast to Portugal, stopping at places like Essaouira where you can explore the UNESCO medina or join others for activities. Our guides keep an eye out for everyone, particularly during free time in the medinas where it's easy to get turned around.
The Moroccan Capitals tour has become a favorite for couples looking for something special together. You'll ride traditional horse-drawn carriages through Marrakech and take camel treks into the Sahara at sunset. We include plenty of romantic spots like the blue streets of Chefchaouen and quiet walks in Todra Gorge. Our travelers like how we mix guided activities with free time to wander on their own. The tour wraps up in Spain and Portugal - think evening flamenco shows in Seville and dinner cruises along the Guadalquivir River.
Older travelers consistently mention how much they appreciate our mix of comfort and authentic experiences. Our English-speaking guides adjust the walking pace and timing to suit everyone while making sure you don't miss any cultural highlights. For guests over 70, we often suggest booking flight upgrades instead of overnight trains in Egypt, and picking tours with proper hotels rather than desert camping in Morocco. The Nile cruise portion works particularly well - you'll see multiple sites but only unpack once. The included meals at local restaurants let you try regional dishes without worrying about Arabic menus.
Morocco works really well for families - we see it in the feedback all the time. Kids get excited about riding camels into the Sahara and sleeping under the stars, while parents appreciate how our guides make places like Hassan II Mosque interesting with stories that keep young ones engaged. The journey through the Atlas Mountains lets families meet Berbers in their villages, and everyone loves exploring Ait Benhaddou, this amazing clay fortress where they filmed parts of Aladdin. We've picked hotels with pools for most stops, giving families a chance to cool off after wandering through the busy medinas. It's a proper cultural experience that's still comfortable enough for all ages.

Best time to visit North Africa
- Spring 2025
Our Egypt and Jordan combo tours fill quickly in spring, and you'll see why. The desert weather sits perfectly for Valley of the Kings visits and climbing Petra's steps. The 5-star Nile cruises are especially nice this time of year - you can actually enjoy deck time watching riverside villages without overheating. That 4:45 AM start for the Abu Simbel optional tour might sound rough, but our travelers tell us catching those massive temples at sunrise makes it worth every early minute. In Morocco, the Roses Valley bursts into bloom and our Dades region tours line up nicely with local harvest celebrations.

- Summer 2025
North Africa needs smart planning in summer, but our highest-rated tours handle the season well. We start early - like 7:30 AM at the Pyramids when the light works magic for photos and you'll beat the crowds too. Many routes blend cultural stops with beach time, connecting Casablanca, Rabat and also Tangier. Our Atlantic Route tours get great feedback from summer guests; you'll explore El Jadida's UNESCO citadel, wander Essaouira's white medina and cool off at Agadir's beaches. Lots of summer travelers go for our upgraded transport options, swapping longer bus rides for quick flights between major stops.

- Fall / Autumn 2025
Fall conditions are perfect for our bigger North African journeys. The 21-day routes through Morocco, Egypt and Jordan really hit their stride - you can properly explore Fes' old tanneries, sleep under stars in Wadi Rum and float down the Nile all in one go. Our travelers love these autumn tours for hitting all the cultural highlights without weather hassles. The Sahara portions work especially well; camel rides across dunes lead to Berber camps where dinner under starlight feels just right in the cool evening. Several trips time Petra visits for candlelit walks through the Siq - many guests tell us it becomes their favorite memory.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Morocco really shines in winter when the crowds thin out. Our most popular routes take you from Casablanca through Marrakech and into the Atlas Mountains where snow-topped peaks create quite a backdrop for desert exploration. While snow sometimes blocks mountain passes, our guides know the smart detours to keep trips moving smoothly. Several of our tours combine Madrid, Lisbon and Morocco these months - it's a nice mix of European cities and North African culture. The Hassan II Mosque visits in Casablanca work particularly well in winter; those detailed mosaics look fantastic against clear blue skies.
