Travel Amazon Rainforest your way
You can explore the rivers from simple canoe safaris to extended journeys into Cuyabeno, Yanayacu and also other reserves. Most popular trips mix motorized transport to reach hidden spots with quiet paddle sections perfect for spotting river dolphins, monkeys and also diverse bird life. Our customers particularly love watching dolphins in the early morning light and taking sunset trips on Laguna Grande. Many boats dock at indigenous villages where you'll learn traditional fishing and cooking methods. The vessels offer solid comfort without excess - expect good food, expert naturalist guides and also excellent wildlife viewing opportunities right from the deck.
See all River Cruise toursThe 7-day Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve trek blends hiking and river travel in a really effective way. Our native guides receive constant praise from travelers for sharing their deep knowledge of medicinal plants and wildlife tracking techniques. Morning treks catch the jungle at its most active, plus you'll learn traditional cooking with the Siona people. Over in Colombia's Guainía region, a 4-day trek takes you through the ancient Mavecure Hills where you can climb Cerro Mavicure for wide views and walk across white sand savannas to find hidden waterfalls. Choose between rappelling from 15-meter platforms or taking guided walks through Selva Matavén forests. The Güejar River Canyon trek runs for 3 days and mixes hiking with rafting - our customers particularly like the stops at secluded waterfalls and chances to spot colorful birds and butterflies along the quiet trails.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursThe Amazon opens up so many ways to get active in the wilderness, with several adventures that our travelers keep coming back to. The Tambopata journey packs a lot into 3 days - you'll walk through the treetop canopy, spot caimans at night and wake up early to watch parrots at clay licks. Our guides are really good at adjusting activities when weather shifts while keeping wildlife encounters frequent and meaningful. For a deeper dive, the 8-day Inca Trail and Amazon combo lets you experience mountain passes and peaceful river sections in one trip. Our customers often mention how well the expert naturalist guides handle the transition between these different environments. Active travelers particularly enjoy the 5-day Cuyabeno Reserve program with its daily canoe explorations, jungle walks and night safaris. What makes this special is how it mixes physical activities with cultural experiences - you'll learn traditional fishing, try making yuca bread and spot pink river dolphins all in one trip.
See all Active toursThe Amazon reveals itself best through guided explorations from key jungle bases. Three and four-day Tambopata tours get you right into the action - you'll spot caimans during night river trips, interact with monkeys at local rehabilitation sites and watch hundreds of parakeets gather at dawn clay licks. Our travelers consistently highlight the elevated walks on suspension bridges and guided trails where you learn about medicinal plants. The guides really shine here - they'll walk you through generations of local plant knowledge while tracking wildlife in the upper canopy. Some trips include nights at riverside lodges where nature's nighttime chorus lulls you to sleep and howler monkeys serve as your morning alarm.

"We have experienced this tour as one of a million tour. It has been excellent from begin till the end. The excursions were interesting, beautiful, exciting especially the ziplining and our guide Bryan was top of the bill. He guided the groep with a lot of passion and enthusiasm and told us beautiful stories about nature, animals and history. The lodges were very comfortable with own bathroom and lovely bed at the edge of the jungle. Every day we got lovely food and drinks. Again thanks for all. We have had a brilliant time!!!

"Our guide Romulo was amazong, has a lot of knowledge and eager to share with us all the exciting details of the area, animals, plants and the culture. Our accomodation was vers clean, you don’ t really expect that in the forest but they clean the rooms every day. The food was excellent too! Couldn’t really say anything bad but prepare for the 10 hour long bus ride because it was not a pleasure to ride. the roads are really bad the driver was honking like every min.. but it was worth for the tours.

Looking at Amazon tour options, the Nicky Lodge really stands out based on what our travelers tell us about their 5-day Cuyabeno experiences. The guides know exactly where to spot wildlife, the meals are consistently good and you'll sleep comfortably even deep in the rainforest. Intrepid Travel's combo Inca Trail and Amazon trip has gotten solid feedback for the overall route and activities, though we've heard from some guests about varying hotel quality and slow email responses before departure. It's worth double-checking the accommodation details when booking this one. If you're short on time, there's a quick 3-day Tambopata option that packs in wildlife watching, night walks and canopy tours. The schedule keeps you moving and while the guides are knowledgeable, don't expect much one-on-one attention since groups tend to be larger. The key is matching your style to the right operator. Nicky Lodge works well for people wanting that genuine Amazon experience with good comfort, Intrepid fits active travelers okay with some variability and Tambopata suits those needing a quick Amazon introduction. What really matters is picking a tour that lines up with how you like to travel.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter tours in the Amazon let you explore during the rainier season when the forest bursts with life. Several excellent 4-5 day tours operate from the Cuyabeno Reserve, where our travelers love swimming in the flooded forests and watching pink dolphins play in the high waters. The lodges are built to handle the season - you'll stay in elevated bungalows with hot showers and also excellent regional food prepared by dedicated chefs. Many guests particularly enjoy the night walks to spot nocturnal creatures, early morning bird watching excursions and also learning traditional cassava bread-making with local families. The guides earn constant praise for spotting wildlife that most visitors would miss, from tiny poison dart frogs to well-camouflaged sloths.
