What people love about Colorado Tours
- Welcome to Colorado (10 Days)
Great trip thank you.
What our customers ask about Colorado Tours & Trips
What's the best time to enjoy Colorado's outdoor activities?
Summer from June through August is really perfect for hiking Rocky Mountain National Park and hitting the rapids in Glenwood Canyon - you'll see this on our 7-day National Parks tour. Spring is great too around May-June with cooler hiking temps though you might still find snow up high. Fall is absolutely gorgeous especially September and October when the leaves change color along Independence Pass which we feature on our Colorado Highlights Aspen tour.
Do I need to rent a car or are there other ways to get around?
While having your own car gives you freedom there's something really nice about letting someone else handle the driving. Our Rocky Mountain Tour takes care of all the logistics getting you right to amazing trailheads like the Ute Trail at 11400 feet. The historic Durango & Silverton train which we include in our 10-day Welcome to Colorado tour gives you a totally different way to see the landscape.
What are some cool spots in Colorado that most people don't know about?
There's this incredible place called Chimney Rock National Monument where ancient Puebloans tracked lunar movements - we visit on our National Parks tour. The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is mind-blowing when you see how deep the river carved it. And you've got to check out Ouray they call it the Switzerland of America for good reason - both highlights of our National Parks of Colorado experience.
What kind of local cultural experiences can visitors have?
You can have dinner at this amazing family ranch near Mesa Verde surrounded by red mountains part of our Colorado Rockies tour. We'll show you around an urban community farm where they're doing incredible sustainable agriculture work on our 10-day Welcome tour. There's also this fascinating visit to McGraw Ranch from 1884 on our Alpine Peaks tour where you really get what pioneer life was like in Estes Park Valley.
How do I deal with the high altitude when visiting Colorado?
The altitude here is no joke you've really got to take it slow when you first arrive and drink tons of water. We've had travelers on our Colorado Rockies tour mention altitude sickness so we take it seriously. That's why tours like our Rocky Mountain experience start you off easy - like that first day on Ute Trail at 11400 feet where you're only going up and down 600 feet total letting your body adjust naturally.
