What people love about Andes Mountains Tours
- Classic Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu - 4 Days
Wonderful tour guide & tour company with excellent service & great Peru experience! Loved that TreXeperience is a tour agency that supported the local community with local campsites, drivers, tour guides, horsemen, chefs. My tour guide (Hubert) is kind, helpfu, joyfull and informative throughout the entire trek and tour experience. He guided us well through the trek, shared the rich history, culture, food and local information about Peru and the Incan civilisation. He assisted me greatly from the briefing, to the trek, Machu Picchu and to the train & car back to my Cusco accommodation. The assistant chef (Manuel) and head chef (Lorenzo) were amazing in preparing delicious meals (International meals, Peru meals) and constantly delighted us with their surprises (prepared with minimal resources)! Highlight was the Peru cooking preparation of pachamanca (superb food for our lunch). Appreciate their sincerity and warmth in providing yummy meals for us to push us through the trek. Loved that the team ensured that our tents, sleeping bags, blankets were all set up as we arrived at our campsite every night.

Spanning from Venezuela to Chile, the Andes is one of the world's longest mountain ranges. Home to the legendary Machu Picchu in Peru, the Ulyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia, and an abundance of hiking trails with views that take your breath away, the Andes should be at the top of your bucket list.

"The trip was challenging...particularly because of the jungle humidity...but amazing and unique (again because of the jungle)... But I'm writing this to share some tips with those interested in booking this trip: - Local guides are required by the government and Gadventures uses local operators. You can book directly with local operators for about 250USD cheaper. BUT Gadventures offer an English speaking guide, accomodations before and after the tour, and a guide to help you within the city of Santa Marta. - The Trek is offered locally as a 3-day, 4-day and 5-day options. But I recommend the 5-day option if you would like to view the jungle/waterfalls/birds. The 3-day trek is very rushed. - You will be accompanied by at least two more local guides and a cook. Our cook was amazing and she made us all kind of great local food. Not to mention the selection of fruit we were offered at rest stops. - Accomodations were group jungle camp sites but were sufficient. Had hot water and electricity. - Nothing dries in the jungle...you don't need more than two outfits. One to sleep in and another to hike in, wash, and wear again the next day. - Light long hiking pants is a must, especially on the last day, to avoid ticks! - Bring a swimming outfit. - If you are Canadian, like me, be prepared to pay an extra $85+ per person by creditcard at the border. It is a retaliatory charge against Canada. They will also add 10% currency conversion fee if you pay in Canadian Dollar :)

"Unu Raymi Expeditions was extremely helpful, quick to respond, and super accommodating when I needed to adjust my plans due to personal reasons. Their customer service was excellent, and they promptly addressed any concerns I raised. However, the execution of the tours was not as smooth as I had hoped. Since the operator is not based locally, there was significant miscommunication with the local agents. Contacts kept changing, which left me uncertain about who to reach out to at times. Some of the local agents seemed disorganized, with instances of trying to charge extra, not fully adhering to the tour’s terms, and even shortening some of the activities. While the main operator was fantastic in resolving these issues when I raised them, the overall experience could have been much better with a more reliable local team.

"Big shout out to Trexperience, I don’t know if they ever had a customer as confused as me, I must have changed my mind 20+ times during the booking process over which tour I wanted, what dates would work and what equipment I needed as well as with my travel arrangements even after the trek was completed. They remained patient and kind throughout and accommodated all my needs. The trek was exactly what I was looking for. Tour guide Manolo is so deep and passionate he truly brought the mountains alive for me as well as steering us clear of the crowds and ensuring we had the best experience possible. Tour guide Meliton was an angel, taking beautiful care of the whole group throughout, what a treat to be woken in the morning with a coffee poured by Meliton. Head porter Toro always had the warmest smile for us, the whole porter operation was clearly on point. And our chef Celso and sous chef Juanita -I don’t know how they were able to produce such luxurious feasts everyday that were clearly cooked with love, just amazing. Overall, it was simply a privilege to be looked after so well on this once-in-a-lifetime experience, thank you so much Trexperience!
