What people love about Europe Tours
- Rome to Berlin: Piazzas, Prague & the Past
Great diversity of countries and cities but WAY too fast paced. One night in Slovenia and Poland was ridiculous and with travel time some days we spent less than 15 hours in the city. The guide was a but inexperienced so we didn't have a good description of some of the cities. Great way to make friends and see cities! Would recommend going end of August or later as it was still very hot going through the cities!!
- The Best of Eastern Europe
I didn't really know where I wanted to travel. I told the online agent that I was interested in going to Europe, but not on a rushed Contiki-style tour of seeing "all of Europe in 20 days"- I wanted to spend a good amount of time to properly see the cities I was visiting. She suggested looking into the itinerary for "The best of Eastern Europe" and I instantly loved it! She had heard very positive reviews, so I was in; I didn't even have to think twice. Ever since I discovered Tour Radar last year, I've been booking all my travels with them- the agents are very helpful!! This tour was absolutely spectacular- you gain such a sense of appreciation for these countries and their immense beauty. Every day was so exciting, as Europe has such a majestic feel. The accommodation and breakfasts in each hotel were awesome! Our tour leader Adina was very welcoming and very knowledgable. She grew up in East Berlin, so it was very fitting to see her personal side of things while exploring all the history in these countries. I am 110% very pleased to have experienced this incredible trip!!

Amazing tour. Lots of free time to explore. Great destinations. Quality of accomodation was good. well organised. Very glad we made the decision to take this tour.
Most popular destinations in Europe
Our travelers consistently connect with Western Europe's highlights in ways that go beyond simple sightseeing. Local guides make ancient Rome come alive through their stories, while the trek up Switzerland's Jungfraujoch gives a real sense of Alpine grandeur. Ireland's natural wonders - the Cliffs of Moher and Giant's Causeway - leave lasting memories, and the cultural spectrum from Rome's layered history to Amsterdam's canal life creates perfect contrasts. Tour directors like Gerry, Kaeleigh and Cameron Benson get mentioned again and again in feedback for their deep local knowledge and warm personalities. While some optional activities cost extra, they're worth it for bypassing long lines and accessing special experiences you couldn't arrange alone. April-May and September-October hit that sweet spot with nice weather and fewer tourists, making it easier to explore on foot and join local festivals without fighting through summer crowds.
See all Western Europe tours toursMediterranean tours really shine on the route from Dubrovnik to Athens, where our travelers keep telling us about the hidden spots they discovered along this cultural-rich stretch. The small city of Ohrid in Macedonia has turned out to be quite special - travelers love exploring its old churches and taking in those clear lake views. What works so well is how these trips mix famous coastal stops with quiet corners that most visitors pass by, and the guides get lots of praise for making it all flow naturally. They know exactly where to find the best local tavernas and can explain the fascinating mix of European and Eastern influences that shaped each place. We've found April-May and September-October work particularly well for groups - the weather's pleasant, major sites aren't crowded and there's more chance to chat with locals and join in cultural activities.
See all Mediterranean tours toursThe Balkans are one of those European corners where you can still find real, unspoiled experiences. Our travelers keep telling us about Lake Ohrid's old churches and their original frescoes that reveal stories from long ago. What really sets these trips apart is how they blend deep cultural history with genuine local moments - you might find yourself in an impromptu conversation with families on Tirana's lively streets or getting local secrets from residents who actually want to chat with visitors. Having a local guide makes all the difference here, opening doors to places you'd never spot on your own and helping bridge those language gaps that lead to meaningful connections. The best times to visit are spring and early autumn when the weather's just right for exploring and you'll see fewer tourists at places like Plitvice Lakes and Kotor Bay.
See all Balkans tours toursThe Danube River cycling routes in Central Europe really show what makes bike touring special here. Our guided tours consistently get great feedback, especially when riders follow those smooth riverside paths with tour leaders who know exactly how to balance safety with discovery. These guides have a knack for leading groups through old towns and along the river while sharing stories and local insights that bring each place to life. While the organized cycling works beautifully, some of our travelers mention they'd like extra time to really get to know the local culture at each stop. For the best experience, plan your trip during late spring from May to June or early fall in September - you'll find pleasant temperatures, fewer tourists and also lovely seasonal colors. The timing often matches up nicely with local festivals, adding some cultural flair to your cycling journey.

Top operators in Europe
Looking at these tour companies for Europe, Contiki really shines with their organized approach and top-notch tour managers. There's a reason travelers keep mentioning Rianna - she brings deep knowledge and keeps everything running smoothly while maintaining an upbeat vibe throughout the journey. If you're watching your budget but still want quality experiences, Expat Explore consistently delivers. Their tour leaders Cameron and Gayle get lots of praise from past travelers for creating this fun, social atmosphere where everyone feels part of the group. They manage to keep prices reasonable without cutting corners on the important stuff. G Adventures has built quite a reputation among solo travelers who want hassle-free touring. Their CEO (Chief Experience Officer) Esther Josten often gets mentioned in reviews for going that extra mile - whether it's finding hidden local spots or helping sort out unexpected challenges along the way. I should note that while Trafalgar puts together some solid itineraries, we've heard from several customers who weren't happy with how refund requests were handled and had trouble getting quick responses from their customer service team. Common praise points across all these operators are knowledgeable guides and well-planned routes, but each company definitely has its own style and strengths. Expat Explore wins on value, Contiki excels at organization, G Adventures nails the solo travel experience and small group dynamics.

"The trip itself was relaxing. I liked that we had stayed in the same hotel at least two nights. Not much time in the bus or train moving from one city to the other. Marco was a great tour guide! He was very pleasant and patient with everybody. He had a lot of information to give us. Overall, I really enjoyed the tour!

"I have a terrible experience with our tour guide in this tour. This is the 1st time that I have a terrible experience with a tour guide. He was incompetent, not knowledgeable with history. On a led orientation walk, He explaination was so confusing and after the sentence, not explaining properly he would say whatever or blahblahblah so I end up googling it myself whereI am not suppose to bec we have tour guide to explain to but no , We were from another country we do not know his country so if we asked him a placeto buy stuff close to the hotel where to go he only say just google it or I don’t know or hewould just shrug his shoulder. And we do not know all details for plan the next day too too confusing. I feel I do not like to go with Intrepid again after this horrible experience

Best places to start your Europe tour
London comes out as the clear favorite kick-off point - 22 of our travelers start their European trips here. Rome and Amsterdam share second place with 10 departures each, while Vienna draws 8 starts and Berlin follows with 6. Looking at our booking patterns, you'll want to lock things in about 158 days ahead - that's roughly 5 months before you plan to leave. This extra planning time really helps, especially if you've got specific dates or cities in mind. Most first-timers link these main capitals with nearby highlights, using the excellent train connections between cities. The more seasoned travelers we work with suggest taking at least three days in each major city - enough time to mix classic sightseeing with genuine local experiences like food tours and cooking classes that really get you into the culture.

You'll see the big attractions - think Eiffel Tower and St. Mark's Square - but also get hands-on with local culture through wine tasting in German valleys, watching Dutch cheese making and joining traditional Munich beer hall dinners. What our budget travelers mention most is how these tours let them experience more places than they could manage solo for the same money.
