What people love about Kenya Tours
- Kenya Wildlife Safari
I absolutely loved this trip!! Camping in an unfenced site in Masai Mara with only Masai warriors to protect us from the wild life, eating amazing authentic Kenyan food prepared by our local and very own chef, seeing the big 5 many times over, making 22 new friend from 11 nations … These were some of the highlight of this amazing trip.
- Kenya Wildlife Safari
Overall, this was an extraordinary experience! Everything about this country beat my expectations. The people are proud of where they live and incredible (the friendliest of any country I’ve ever been to). The scenery is stunning, and driving anywhere you are constantly seeing something new, interesting and different. Traveling with a small group, in an overland truck and camping in tents is an affordable way to go on safari for anyone who wants to experience some of the greatest countries in Africa. There are plenty of other ways to see it – on private safari’s, in land cruisers, luxury tented camps and lodges, but camping in such a place just feels right. Go to Kenya!
- Kenya Wildlife Safari
It was well organized and our tour guide John was really knowledgeable about everything! Would do another trip with them again!

The Masai Mara really delivers as one of Africa's top safari spots - our travelers regularly see all of the Big Five: lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and also rhinos, often much closer than expected. Nothing beats watching the great wildebeest migration, when masses of animals thunder across the plains in what many call nature's greatest show. Beyond spotting wildlife, you can visit real Maasai villages to learn about their daily life and traditions, which adds genuine cultural depth to your safari experience. The wide-open savannah creates perfect conditions for morning and afternoon game drives, while meeting local Maasai people gives you authentic cultural insights that our customers always mention in their reviews. If you're into photography, early morning and late afternoon offer the best light for capturing wildlife, especially the big cats that are most active then. The reserve is known for hot air balloon rides too - floating above the plains gives you a totally different perspective of the animals and landscape below.
See all Masai Mara National Reserve toursSpot flamingos on Lake Nakuru, witness rhinos in their natural habitat, and explore the acacia forests. Discover waterfalls, observe diverse bird species, and enjoy game drives in Lake Nakuru National Park.
See all Lake Nakuru National Park toursUnder the gaze of Mount Kilimanjaro, lies Amboseli National Park. Map out your route from Nairobi as this diverse ecosystem spreading from Kenya to Tanzania is home to many animals including large herds of elephants and an abundance of birds. Perfect for bird lovers and saferi enthusiasts!
See all Amboseli National Park toursMount Kenya delivers fantastic climbing, and our travelers keep telling us how impressed they are with the food quality - from traditional dishes, fresh ingredients and also excellent vegan options that keep energy levels high during the trek. The local guides really make this experience special by sharing their deep knowledge of wildlife, plants and regional stories along the way. They're particularly good at managing that demanding summit section, keeping safety as the priority while making sure everyone feels good about reaching the top. Here's a practical tip from recent climbers: pack a headlamp since the bunk rooms on the route don't have built-in lighting. Our groups consistently mention how well the guides help them deal with altitude changes, especially as they move through different zones - from dense bamboo forests, through heather moorlands and also rocky peaks.

Spot the Big Five in the Maasai Mara, marvel at the pink flamingos at Lake Nakuru, and witness the annual wildebeest migration. Enjoy a hot-air balloon at sunrise ride and visit the iconic Amboseli with Mt. Kilimanjaro in the backdrop.
See all Safari toursWant to climb one of Africa's highest peaks? Mount Kenya's technical routes deliver the real deal for serious mountaineers. The full 7-day climb takes you through dense forests and up to the challenging Nelion (5,188m) and Batian (5,199m) peaks - you'll pass through several climate zones which keeps it interesting. Many of our clients go for the 5-day Sirimon-Chogoria route; it's got great variety and the morning light from Point Lenana at 4,985m is worth every step. Our porters and guides know their stuff, especially when it comes to local plants and animals. You'll need to be properly fit since some days stretch to 12 hours of walking, but the camp locations work well for getting used to the altitude. The mountain food gets good reviews despite the remote cooking conditions, though expect basic and sometimes busy mountain huts in peak months.
See all Hiking & Trekking toursKenya offers immersive, hands-on wildlife experiences that go far beyond traditional game drives. On our 8-day Samburu and Masai Mara tours, you’ll track endangered black rhinos on foot with expert rangers in Sera Conservancy, an unforgettable experience praised by many travelers. You’ll also witness the fascinating Samburu "singing wells," where locals sing traditional songs while watering their livestock, and dine under starlit skies before heading out on nighttime safaris to spot elusive nocturnal animals. For the best wildlife sightings, plan your trip during the dry season, when animals gather around water sources. Other unique experiences include morning visits to see sand grouse gathering at natural wells and exploring the Kalama Conservancy in search of the "Samburu Special Five": reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. Shorter 5-day wildlife tours offer equally exciting highlights, such as raised bunkers at Aberdare, where you can watch animals visiting lit-up waterholes at night, and visits to Lake Nakuru, known for its vibrant flamingo flocks and iconic species like white rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, and lions. Across all tours, travelers value the combination of active wildlife encounters and the chance to connect deeply with Kenya's incredible biodiversity and local traditions.
See all Active toursKenya's explorer tours take you through prime safari territories over 7-10 days, kicking off in Nairobi. Our customers absolutely love starting their days with balloon rides over Maasai Mara - there's something magical about floating above the plains while watching animals start their morning below. You'll spend time at Lake Nakuru National Park which has Kenya's biggest rhino population, plus you'll see pelicans and flamingos gathering at the alkaline lake. Many people choose to add a few days at Mombasa's beaches after all the wildlife viewing. If you're short on time, the 7-day tours focus purely on wildlife - you'll head to Amboseli National Park to see elephants with Mt Kilimanjaro in the background and also visit Lake Naivasha where boat rides bring you close to hippos and loads of bird species.

Top operators in Kenya
Looking at these safari operators in Kenya, Perfect Africa Safari stands out with guide George getting lots of praise from travelers for going beyond typical game drives. They're known for weaving in authentic cultural experiences and consistently finding great wildlife viewing spots. Their personalized approach means you're not just following a rigid schedule but getting a safari that fits what you want to see. Bon Voyage Kenya Safaris offers good value and comfortable jeep transport, but you'll want to read the fine print carefully. Some guests have mentioned unexpected changes to their plans and extra costs that weren't clear at booking time. CKC Tours hits a sweet spot with fair prices and attentive service. Both John, who manages everything, and Simon who leads the tours, really know their stuff. They're quick to respond to questions and adapt tours to match what their guests are looking for. For lodging choices, you might want to skip Rhino Camp unless you're okay with pretty basic facilities. Several travelers have noted issues with cleanliness and comfort levels there. If you're after a more comfortable stay, it's worth looking at other accommodation options that these operators work with. These companies all run tours in the same areas, but it's the little details in how they operate that make the difference. Perfect Africa Safari and CKC Tours seem to have the edge when it comes to overall satisfaction, especially if you value personal attention and well-organized trips.

Best places to start your Kenya tour
Pretty much all our Kenya safaris - about 95% - kick off from Nairobi, though you can start from Mombasa too if you prefer the coast. Looking at our booking data, you'll want to lock in your tour roughly 68 days ahead, especially if you're keen to catch the Migration or stay at popular lodges. The basic accommodations might not be fancy, but our travelers say the wildlife more than makes up for it - just bring cash for park fees. Mixing wildlife viewing with visits to real Masai villages adds something special to the trip - loads of our customers say it's a real highlight. Most people find 10-14 days hits the sweet spot for seeing Kenya properly, giving you time to explore different parks, spot wildlife and soak up the culture. While tented camps might be simpler than lodges, they often give you the real deal safari experience - there's nothing quite like falling asleep to the sounds of wildlife nearby.
Discover Kenya tours for every budget
Looking for good value wildlife viewing? Our budget safaris run 3-6 days and pack in the highlights. The Masai Mara tours really shine when done by 4x4 instead of minivan - our customers love the basic but well-placed camps where lion roars drift across the plains at night and mornings bring wildebeest and zebras right to your doorstep. Over at Lake Nakuru, you'll spot rhinos and flamingos on game drives, plus take boat rides among the hippos at Lake Naivasha. Many budget tours include a free night in Nairobi to start, and some add visits to Maasai villages where you can join traditional dances and support local crafts. The 3-day Amboseli tours are a customer favorite, giving you amazing elephant encounters with snow-capped Kilimanjaro as your backdrop.
Our premium Kenya tours go for 7-10 days and focus on those special touches that make all the difference. You'll stay at fantastic lodges with infinity pools where animals drink, private viewing decks and rooms filled with local art. The experiences are pretty special too - think high tea at Joy Adamson's old Lake Naivasha home and dawn balloon rides over Masai Mara with champagne breakfasts in the bush afterward. We use top-quality 4x4s and our guides know exactly where to position for perfect photos. Many tours head to the quiet Loita Hills where you'll meet Maasai communities still living their traditional ways. Our travelers particularly love those thoughtful extras - hot water bottles warming their beds after evening game drives and elegant dinners served under starlit skies.

A week in Kenya gives you proper time to explore the country's different ecosystems. Most popular 7-day routes link up Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli - you get to really know each park. Lake Nakuru hosts Kenya's biggest rhino population and you'll see pelicans and flamingos painting the shores pink. Over in Amboseli, our travelers love those early drives when Kilimanjaro's snowy peak breaks through the morning clouds. Many tours stop at Lake Naivasha where boat drivers know exactly where to find fish eagles, ospreys and also hippos. Our most recommended solo tours include Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara combinations, where you'll join small groups in comfortable 4x4 vehicles. Solo travelers consistently praise the cooking classes in local villages and the camaraderie that develops during shared game drives. The tours starting in Nairobi often include urban adventures that help you get your bearings while meeting fellow travelers. Young adults seeking active safari experiences have several high-energy tour options. The most popular choices combine classic game drives with adventurous additions like mountain biking around Lake Naivasha and walking safaris in private conservancies. Many tours include pre-dawn starts for sunrise balloon rides over Masai Mara, followed by bush breakfasts while watching the plains come alive. Our younger travelers particularly enjoy the camping options that put you right in the middle of the action - falling asleep to distant lion roars and waking to zebras grazing nearby. The cultural elements are equally engaging, with chances to join Maasai warriors around evening campfires and learn traditional hunting techniques. These tours tend to be faster-paced with full days of wildlife viewing and also cultural immersion.
Families traveling to Kenya have some excellent safari options that really cater to kids' interests and energy levels. Our most popular family tours include visits to the Langata Giraffe Sanctuary where children can get up close to these gentle giants while learning about conservation. The Lake Naivasha region works perfectly for families - you can cycle around the lake shores, take easy guided walks to spot monkeys and giraffes, and cool off in lodge swimming pools between activities. Many families tell us the Masai Mara portion is a highlight, with well-paced game drives and camps located just outside the reserve where kids can safely watch wildlife from the grounds. Our travelers particularly praise the educational aspects, like learning about Maasai culture firsthand and discovering how different animals behave in their natural habitat.
