Peregrine Tour – Classic African Safari Feedback Overall experience: Excellent The principal objectives of this tour were all achieved. We were able to view and photograph nearly all the animals we hoped to see. We had good leaders and drivers and excellent company. Accommodation was satisfactory to excellent and transport was effective if subject to a few deficiencies. There were some hiccups but there was clearly a desire on the part of Peregrine to rectify these as possible. Health and safety One concern as that the transport truck on the last two legs had problems with broken bindings for one of the fuel tanks. The door to the passenger compartment also was jammed and could not be opened from the inside – a worry when we found ourselves sitting directly above the unsafe fuel tank. The door problem was eventually rectified but the fuel tank bindings broke a second time. Itinerary This was comprehensive and a reason we felt this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience most of the attractions of east and south Africa. The trip was certainly undertaken in an environmentally and socially responsible way. Culture We had good interactions with Maasai people, San bushmen and the Cape Malay community as well as with accommodation staff and other guests at the relevant venues. Local drivers/guides for the game drives were also communicative. Accommodation Most venues were excellent. There were some changes from the advised itinerary (which others in the party were given advanced warning of but we were not). Some of these were probably a change to better facilities (e.g. Lake Nakuru Lodge rather than Sleeping Warrior tented camp & Trailblazers Camp rather than Dqae Quare Lodge in Ghanzi). However, inability to stay a second night at Mopane Lodge, Damaraland and the need to move to Khorixas Rest Camp was a definite downgrade. Also the inability to stay at Namibia Desert Lodge and diversion to Swartfontein Hunting Lodge was a major problem given the additional time (2h15m each way) to reach Sossuvlei and Sesriem, despite the excellence of the Lodge itself. Half our group opted not to go on that day trip because of the additional time and the state of the vehicle. Transport – poor Activities – Excellent Meals – excellent The transport was something of a let-down. We appreciate that availability of good appropriate transport in Africa may be limited and what there is may suffer greatly regularly because of the state of the roads. Our benchmark was the truck used when we toured with Peregrine in Mexico last year which had been much more upmarket. However we had problems with each of the trucks used in Africa: 1) Kenya. Reasonable truck. There was no air-conditioning but it was not required in those temperatures. No microphone system for leader. Did have fridge and lockable safe. 2) Maasai Mara. Appropriate vehicles for game drives. Because of rains, tracks had become muddy and local drivers did not appear to have either expertise or equipment to cope and frequently got bogged. This caused a delay of over an hour for us to be picked up after a balloon ride. 3) Tanzania. Truck seemed similar to that used in Kenya but had problems with engine pressure and stalling so (thankfully) we had more time in game drive vehicles than planned. The truck also proved to be very leaky in both passenger and luggage compartments. 4) Victoria Falls-Cape Town. Truck was smaller than the previous two with uncomfortably narrower seats. There was a roof that could be raised but this was unsuitable unless people were very tall. The bindings securing it were continually failing so it rattled throughout. The actual roof was quite low and a real hazard for taller members of the group. It was not a suitable vehicle for an extended game drive (for which it was scheduled in Etosha) as those on inner seats would have had very limited views. The entire group opted to pay an additional US$90 each to use game drive vehicles provided by the lodge. There was an air-conditioning unit of variable effectiveness and initially it leaked badly and had to be switched off. There was no safe or fridge available. More seriously, half way across the Namibian desert, bindings for the second fuel tank broke. Some of the passengers helped to secure it temporarily with a chain and it was “repaired” in Swapokmund but promptly broke again the next day. Safety issues with the jammed door are mentioned above in “Health and Safety”. The transport company replaced the vehicle with a “Sprinter” bus which gave a much more comfortable ride over rough roads but had more limited viewing facility. 5) Namibian border. Because of the change of vehicle, the exit bureaucracy at the Namibian border caused major problems. The transport company were reputedly “too busy” to forward replacement papers for a few hours and we had to wait for 3-4 hours before we could leave the country. Crew Our leader on the first leg was excellent with good local knowledge and excellent communication skills. He demonstrated extraordinarily good prediction skills about the likely movement of animals. He was responsive to the needs and request of the group. The driver on our first leg was competent and safe. Our leader on the second and third legs was also first rate, enthusiastic, approachable, organised and communicative. Both leaders showed a commitment to a high level of responsible tourism. The driver on our second and third legs was also safe and helpful although did get caught a couple of times exceeding the local speed limit (we felt sorry for him as the signs had not been all that clear and helped with his instant fines). The roads were challenging to say the least and he coped well with the difficulties and the broken fuel tank straps. He was rather shy socially but did join the group and we enjoyed looking at his family photos. Booking process There were many emails back and forth but the local contact was always patient and helpful. Trip notes Some of these were out-of-date when we travelled but we had not been notified of alterations, especially regarding changes of accommodation (some others had received updating emails). Had the change to Swartfontein Lodge been notified well in advance with a caution about the transport distance but a well-deserved complimentary description of the lodge, this would have caused less disgruntlement among the party. General comment Peregrine may not be the cheapest tour company but do have a commitment to quality. When inevitable problems arise they do make a strong effort to ameliorate or correct them.
- by Stewart MannMy trip from Cairo to Cape Town was truly amazing. As a first time guided tour experience I was pleasantly surprised at how well the groups became friends so quickly. This tour is quite long… 46 days was a little long for me. I could have easily cut 2 weeks off. The vehicle a (mini bus) was adequately comfortable in Egypt, whilst the bus (cattle truck) used throughout the the rest of the tour was horrific to say the least. I was expecting no air-con, a little dust, and a bumpy road, but I was not expecting the sweaty vinyl seats that I’m sure the design came from a 1960’s school bus!! The brochure for this particular tour states that no real level of fitness is needed…. Well I guess that would be true if you didn’t want to see any of the temples or pyramids… there is quite a lot of walking in VERY HOT temperatures. The river cruise on the Nile was so relaxing. Most of the accommodation throughout the tour was satisfactory, just a few that could be improved. Cheers to our tour leader Memo for making Ancient Egypt so memorable with his story telling, he was very entertaining and very knowledgeable in all things Egypt, I wish him well. Tour leader Clara was conversant about all things animal related. Additional commentary could have made the very long drives (in the cattle truck) far more enjoyable. Our short stay in Zanzibar at Breezes Beach Club was just what was needed but not nearly long enough. After just 2 nights there we had to move on to Stone Town for 1 night where the accommodation was barely acceptable. The food during the second sector (Kenya – Tanzania) was very average. Was the same buffet every day at different motel lunch stops… disappointing. The food during the final sector (Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa) was much improved. Lunches were self-catered and dinners were of a much higher standard. We saw the most memorable sights in Egypt, the Masai Mara and the Serengeti National Park. Hot air ballooning is well worth the cost and includes a champagne breakfast. To do it over I would certainly have more time in Zanzibar, Zimbabwe and Cape Town. Maybe less in Botswana and Namibia. Egypt needs 2 or 3 weeks alone.

The tour operator is untrustworthy. The safari planner was the worst person I ever met. He stressed us to change our plan and forced us to have a private tour in Masai Mara and sleep in a very cheap hotel while we payed for having an accommodation upgrade. Lots of lies: finally I cannot even stand his presence. We paid for a safari balloon but they didn't booked and invented that the safari balloon was cancelled due to weather conditions. What can I add more?
- by Roberta CarrisiWorst experience of my life, and i did more tjan 100 countries( 25 in africa). They change the schedule every 5mins, no one of the company is telling you the same thing. They make us change our flight because they did not organiz correctly the trip. They make you pay all the entrance fees (if you can do not) even if you don't go. And for the refund you need to go in a battle. Also , they always make you pay for more things don't follow what is write in the optional only. Entrance fees, other parks,... I don't recommand you this company.

We loved every minute of ur safari!! The tour guide in Kenya named Sam was very knowledgeable and assertive with finding the Big 5 in the Masai reserve. However Tanzania stole our 💕 From the people, the food and the accommodations all gave us an unforgettable authentic experience. Our tour guide Muhammed was knowledgable, informative, and great company. I would definitely refer this tour to anyone wanting to come on safari. Joyce at World Adventure tours was always available and helpful before we arrived and during our stay. We appreciate the entire team!
- by Keisha DixonWHAT A TRIP & WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!! During our trip with Global World Tours, we saw the BIG FIVE and this certainly wouldn't have been possible without out our amazingly knowledgeable and experienced tour guides Robert (Kenya) and Adanis Tanzania). During the part in Kenya, we had some problem with the 4 wheel drive, and because of the muddy roads (end of the rainy season) got stuck twice and needed the help from others to get out, but this also made the trip feel like a real adventure. For the rest the tour went very smooth and everything was well organised thanks to Joyce. We stayed in nice lodges, with amazing views. The personel were always very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, especially the lunches (arranged by Adanis). All in all a very enjoyable experience. Thanks Global World Tours

The tour is great! We have seen all Big Fives, including the most elusive leopard. The landscape is magnificent! The tour guide, chef, truck and gam drivers are all pleasant, responsible and helpful. There are a few things I wish I had been informed before the trip: 1. Visa for both Kenya and Tanzania; 2. Bring sleeping bags, towels and toilet paper (this is esswntially a camping trip); 3. Plenty of small bills of USD be cause it's the preferred currency from tourist. As long as you are well-prepared, this is a tour if life time!
- by Jeffrey WangThis trip was a well-organized adventure that exceeded all my expectations. Itinerary: The itinerary was perfectly crafted, balancing game drives, cultural experiences, and downtime. Each day was filled with exploration, whether it was tracking the Big Five in the Maasai Mara or visiting a local Maasai village to learn about their traditions. The mix of activities kept the trip dynamic, and I appreciated how the schedule allowed for some flexibility—our guide often adjusted plans based on wildlife sightings and guest preferences. Guide/Driver/Chef: Our guide, Elijah, was a true gem. His deep knowledge of wildlife and the ecosystem enriched every game drive. He had a knack for spotting animals from miles away and shared fascinating insights into their behaviours and habitats. Beyond his expertise, Elijah was incredibly personable, making the experience feel more like an adventure with a friend than a standard tour. His commitment to the local community shone through, adding a meaningful layer to our experience. Special thanks to Ammos and Judy. These 3 made the trip unforgettable. Overall Organization: The trip's organization was impeccable. From the moment we landed in Nairobi, everything was seamless. Great care was taken to ensure our comfort and enjoyment throughout the trip. Overall, this Kenyan safari was an adventure of a lifetime. The stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich culture made for a perfect blend. I can’t recommend this experience highly enough—it’s a must for any nature lover or adventure seeker! I’m already dreaming of my next visit to Kenya/Africa!

Communication was clear and with a fast response whenever I had a question. All the employees were professional and helpful as can be. This has been an experience I will remember for the rest of my life.
- by Ondřej ChlubnaFrom start to finish, this was a professional tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and communicated the plan effectively. We are experienced trekkers and had complete confidence in our guides, porters and cook. We were early in the season, so we're able to stay in the bunks. The effects of the altitude were a problem. The schedule of 3 am assent and long trek are not ideal but . But the views are spectacular. This is due to lack of facilities on the east side of the mountain.

My sister and I booked this tour for her 45th birthday. We really struggled choosing which tour / company but so glad we went with Kiriwe Travel and Trekking Safari. Our experience was incredible and couldn’t have been any better. Our guides were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The accommodation was beautiful, along with the delicious food. I highly recommend anyone to go with these guys for your East Africa tour.
- by Jean McDonaldWe Cannot rate this company high enough. Our experience from inquiry point was first class, very quick to respond to questions and help accommodate our requirements. Very friendly staff and great communication throughout. Assistance with visa application information provided in correspondence and also over the phone. We had a brief the day before our safari which was thorough and gave us the opportunity to ask any questions, our guide Norton was waiting for us the following morning and all though our 15 day safari was extremely knowledgeable of the areas we visited and on flora, fauna and wildlife. Norton wanted to ensure we had the best experience possible trying to locate as many different animals as possible, we managed the big 5 and many many more, thank you. We chose a luxury package at Neptune Ngorongoro which made our trip extra special. All in all we would not hesitate to use this company again, such an amazing experience, from inquiry, booking, actual trip and feedback after. The staff at Steppe Dogs Adventures work so hard to make your trip so special, thank you:)

Amazing! Albert was super responsive and helpful with all my questions, beforehand. The trip is super well planned and organised, just the right length, great safari jeep. Kibo Camp was amazing and our guide Benson was incredible, super knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of Amboseli and excited to show us this world. It could not have been more perfect and Amboseli is so worth it, I’m glad I booked it over Masai Mara, as the views of Kilimanjaro just really added to the whole experience. I cannot reccomend this tour and Exciting Africa enough!
- by EvelineTour was very good. At the time of booking we should be told that there would be extra for the safari fee . We would have paid right at home instead of in Nairobi.

Itinerary okay, too rushed though. Visit some amazing places though. I'd say a great tour but not a great experience with other white travellers as a POC. Better to book with locals directly tbh.
- by AnonymousAfter a bad start, where I has not been communicated of a new hotel accommodation in Boulevard Hotel, I first took a taxi from the airport to the Heron Hotel, I paid 3,400 shillings. Then when I realized that the orientation meeting was been held in the Boulevard hotel, I had to take another taxi, and I had to paid 2,000 shillings. But after this moment everything was a wonderful experience.

Kenya Picked up from my hotel at 0640, before breakfast started. At 230 still not to camp and so far no meal or even water provided. Arrived a bit after 3. Road in very poor condition. Van is not appropriate vehicle for these roads or a game drive. Camp is similar to ones in listing, but does not look as nice or offer as much electric. I sent my dietary restrictions in. It’s a surprise every single meal. Tour says will drop us to our location. But when we get to middle of Nairobi, driver says now you must uber to airport.

We were picked up from our hotel by our guide Jackson in the morning and then drove to Tsavo East. It really is a wonderful place with fantastic nature and lots of animals. At our lodge, we had a waterhole in front of our room where there were elephants in the evening. On the second day we went on to Saltlick. The lodge was again super beautiful and there were lots of animals there. In general, it was a super great experience, Jackson told us a lot about the individual animals and made sure that we felt comfortable.
- by Hannah Sophie HuffBryan Kazungu of Big Zone Africa Safaris gave egregious misrepresentation of services, as well fraudulent and deceptive behaviors that caused significant inconvenience and he tried to financially harm me. I was initially invited to join a sailing trip in East Africa. My long-time friend informed me that her friend, along with her family and a couple, were planning a 3-day safari in Kenya following the sailing trip. I was provided the friend's contact details, and we corresponded via email due to her family commitments. I made an inquiry through TourRadar and received responses from both TourRadar and Big Zone Africa Safaris. The friend forwarded an email about a flight with Kenya Airways and informed me that she sent an email I sent her to asking for info. on the Safari to Bryan and he called me. Bryan claimed to represent TourRadar, which I believed given his response to my inquiry through TourRadar When I asked about the groups booking, he confirmed that I would be booking through TourRadar, just like the group. He assured me that booking with him would be the same as booking through TourRadar and pressured me to commit directly with him by continuously following up via WhatsApp. During our conversations, I expressed my intention to obtain travel insurance. Bryan, asserting that he was the managing director of the tour, assured me that insurance was unnecessary as I would receive a full refund if I canceled or was unable to go. The group were friends of his and that I was in safe hands with him. Bryan's engaging demeanor and assurances built a false sense of trust. On March 7, 2024, I booked through TourRadar, but Big Zone Africa Safaris issued the invoice. When I inquired, Bryan misled me by claiming this was standard practice and reassured me that everything was fine. However, On March 19, 2024, I received an email from TourRadar inquiring about if I still had an interest in the trip. I reached out to Bryan, who then admitted that he had not processed my payment through TourRadar but directly through him, contrary to his earlier statements and instructed me not to inform TourRadar. I had not talked to him since March 8th. He attempted to pacify me with additional perks- a hot air balloon ride, touring Nairobi, an art museum and Giraffe center. He requested that I buy him a phone from US, and he would pay me back, which I found highly unprofessional. Despite my clear indication that I was uncomfortable with this request, Bryan persisted by sending me the phone description. I texted him to say that I did not want to get him a phone and suggested he check with the married friend. I gave a hint that this request is inappropriate and point out he was trying to take advantage of me being single. On June 30, 2024, Bryan informed me that my flight had been canceled and rescheduled for July 1sT in the evening. After extensive attempts to contact the airlines to find an earlier flight, without success, Bryan asked me if I wanted him to do the refund then. I told him hold off, let me keep trying to no success. We talked and I asked him to proceed with my refund. He promised to process it on July 2nd, then July 4th, then July 12th and continued to promise and delay it. By July 18, 2024, Bryan stated that my refund was ready and would be processed in a couple of days, but by July 22, 2024, but I still hadn't received it. On July 25, 2024, After being played so many times about my refund, I confronted Bryan about the missing refund and confirmation and that I will contact TourRadar if I don’t receive either. Bryan then falsely claimed that I had been given a choice to book with him or TourRadar, which is a blatant LIE and an attempt to cover up/fabricate a story to cover up his deceptive practices. Bryan’s response to my complaint incriminates him. I had not mentioned any discrepancies about TourRadar or Bryan cutting Tourradar out of the deal. I only intended to highlight his false assurances about the refund policy to Tourradar. Bryan’s subsequent lies and contradictory statements have only exposed his fraudulent actions further. He highlighted what he did to me and exposed his own guilt on his own. As a consumer, I have the right to reach out to the appropriate party in regard to my purchase. Out of Bryan’s own guilt, he quickly became defensive and threatened to only give me my money back under the following conditions: A) Not to expose Bryan to Tourradar. B) He will only refund me if I do not speak to any other parties. This was an inappropriate abuse of power. He violated my consumer right. Looking back, I understand why he sidestepped my request for travel insurance with the travel company and simply told me I'd be refunded if necessary. Addressing the insurance would have exposed that I was dealing with him directly rather than through TourRadar. By covering up one shady transaction, he’s now involved in another questionable deal by withholding a refund that was part of my tour purchase. It seems he was trying to take advantage of me, even going so far as to ask me to buy a phone for him. Bryan’s actions constitute a clear breach of consumer trust and fraud. His misleading claims, constant delays, and refusal to honor his promises have caused significant inconvenience and financial harm. I have multiple What'sApp messages documenting his assurances and subsequent failures to deliver on them. I filed a dispute with my credit card company and they successfully won my dispute against Bryan. This took Three months of dealing with his fraudulent business practices. Since this ordeal happened, I have found out that Bryan is a working subcontractor. This is definitely not "we are selling the dream," that his website claims for a vacation trip! Complete Fraudster!

We didn’t go because we had a visa issue please can you change our booking to next October and I will change my review hanks ????????
- by Dan GreyWe had an amazing time going on this tour. Our guides were great and really made an effort to get us to see as much as possible both nature wise and culturally. Our one complaint would be that we had booked, packed for, paid for, and expected lodges in the first two locations but ended up in camps. I do however have to say it was truly amazing to camp in the serengeti, but that's not what we booked.
