What people love about Nile Valley Tours
- 4 Days 3 nights 5 stars Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor
Dear reader if you are reading this review, you are planning to head to south Egypt for a vacation, and I can only encourage you to do so, for several reasons, having done it myself, I can tell you that it is a magical place, with worm people to welcome you. Cruising on the River Nile should be on anybody's Bucket list. The thousand-year-old sights all along are breathtaking, and the peaceful cruising on the river has to be experienced, and can't be explained in words. However, places like Philea, Komombo, Edfu, and Karnak or Luxor Temples come really alife when beautifully explained by a local expert in Egyptology, my local guide Alaa is such a guide, his explanations go in depth about the historical facts, and he does also lead you throughout the entire journey from highlight to highlight, with his kind, always with an honest smile, way to genuinely be. There is so much to see in the lands of the Pharaos, the right person to guide you is Key, and Alaa is that right person, with the knowledge, as well as the sense of hospitality. This experience was an out-of-this-world experience, thanks to all involved. Highly recommend this to anyone.

So much fun, great tour group, helpful guide, cool places.. What more could you want
- Magic of Egypt (with free All inclusive upgrade hurghada hotel) 12 Days
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I would rank the whole tour to five stars and probably leaning more towards five. In 12 days I don't think there was much of Egypt that we really missed. The overnight train ride was about the only thing that I would rank as being two stars or in that range simply because of the fact the condition of the sleeper car. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't well maintained but I'm still glad we did it. All the hotels and the ship on the Nile were all first class and the guides were tremendous. I've done a lot of overseas traveling and as tours go for what you got out of it I'd rank this as one of the best. Do be prepared for a lot of extra expenses when we got to Egypt the guide that we met at the hotel sat and went over all the side things you could do and by the time we were done it over doubled the price of the tour but the tour was so reasonable to start with that didn't really bother me.

You've got options for your Nile journey - from fancy Dahabiya boats to simple Felucca sailboats, each with its own character. Most people go for the 4-5 day cruises between Luxor and Aswan, stopping at Edfu, Kom Ombo and other riverside temples. The Dahabiya boats are quite special with private cabins and proper Egyptian meals from the onboard chef. They can dock at smaller spots that big cruise ships can't reach. Our customers really like the small group feel - just 12-14 guests max - and how flexible the schedule is for catching sites at the best times. For something more hands-on, try a Felucca where you'll help sail the boat, eat simple meals on deck and sleep under amazing desert stars. Lots of tours add some beach time in Hurghada afterwards to relax by the Red Sea.
See all River Cruise toursEgypt offers plenty of ways to mix history with outdoor activities. You can ride camels by the pyramids at sunrise, snorkel among Red Sea coral reefs near Hurghada and sail traditional boats on the Nile. Many of our travelers say the hot air balloon rides over Luxor's west bank are a highlight - you drift above ancient temples as the morning sun lights up the desert. Some tours take you to Nubian villages by small boat where you can swim in the Nile and learn about local life. The combination tours running 8-12 days give you enough time for both the historical sites and active parts. Our customers often mention how nice it is to have free time in Hurghada for swimming and water sports after seeing all the historical sites.
See all Active toursExplore a wide diversity of coach / bus tours through Nile Valley. We have 12 adventures that vary from 3 days to 12 days. With the greatest number of departures in April, this is also the most popular time of the year.
See all Coach / Bus toursTraditional felucca sailing on the Nile lets you travel like locals have for centuries. You'll sleep right on deck under the stars while the crew takes care of navigation and fresh meals. Our travelers tell us they love jumping in for swims during calm stretches and the social vibe on board. If you prefer more comfort, Dahabiya boats come with private cabins, attached bathrooms and really good Egyptian food prepared by the chef. These smaller boats can dock at quiet spots away from the big cruise ships, so you get temples almost to yourself. Our customers particularly like having dinner on small islands as the sun sets over the river. Felucca trips run 5 days and work well if you're watching your budget, while Dahabiya journeys take 7-13 days and give you that full river experience with extra comfort.

Our travelers consistently give high marks to three tour companies in Egypt: Timeless Tours, Expat Egypt and also Vacations to Go Travel. Peter from Timeless Tours gets mentioned often in feedback for really knowing his stuff and going the extra mile to take care of people. If you're traveling solo - especially as a woman - Beyond the Nile tours has built up a solid reputation for creating a secure, welcoming environment. Just keep in mind that some of the budget-friendly options don't include all entrance fees and tips in the upfront price, so it's worth checking what extra costs you might need to budget for. The experiences in Egypt tend to stick with people long after they return home. Our customers particularly love drifting down the Nile on a traditional felucca boat, floating over Luxor's ancient temples in hot air balloons at sunrise and exploring the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings. The guides do a great job bringing Egypt's history to life while making sure everyone stays comfortable and taken care of during their trip. The key seems to be the quality of the guides - they're knowledgeable without being overly academic, friendly without being pushy and really good at handling all the practical details that make a trip run smoothly. We get lots of feedback about how they help travelers navigate local customs, know the best photo spots and even recommend reliable places for everything from snacks to souvenirs.

"Ok....due to the fact that I clearly stated the day of arrival....and no greeting at airport left me in a lurch of where I was going ...staying...was a mess and stressful...after finally getting it figured it out....paying an extra 140 dollars was not cool. The overall van and transport was nice....the drive to the boat...you need to promote the airplane more....the road is horrendous..the sights were great...the vendors not so much.Tour guides explanations were good...needs to lighten up a tad...and try to inject maybe a bit of humour into it.The boat on the nile was nice.....the food very bland....could do with out the two day stop in Hurghada...not a resort kind of person.....if there was more info on golf there I would of been happy. Trip back to Cairo was ok.....long and last day at museums I felt a tad rushed while trying to take photos. Best stop there was at market where you didn't have to haggle on items......other then that it's ok....but again could pass on perfume factory... papyrus place...or alabaster shop....just felt pushed to buy things. Again I would recommend the company....but won't go above okay.....think it's hard to please everyone but it was a cultural eye opener.Best of luck in future to timeless travels....they will work out the kinks.

"This is an excellent tour to show you lots interesting stuff in a short time. Very good itinerary, pick ups always on time, our guide Ahmed Kassem was so enthusiastic and interested in telling us all the history, so knowledgeable but didn't overload us and kept checking that we were enjoying ourselves. We felt very safe and well looked after. The boat was lovely and the staff couldn't have done enough for us. Tour manager Tahir was always available if we needed anything and was very helpful and kind.
