We had an amazing time at the avatar amazon lodge! Our guide Duel was amazing and shared interesting knowledge, we felt very safe. The lodge was cozy and the food delicious (try the lemonade!), the activities were varied and we gained a good overview over the amazon. All the workers did their best to make our stay enjoyable. We are very happy
What our customers ask about Adventure Tours & Trips in Peru
When is the best time to go on an Adventure tour in Peru?
Peru's dry season from April to October provides ideal conditions for adventure tours particularly for hiking the Salkantay and Inca Trail. During these months the Sacred Valley has clear sunny days and cooler nights which work well for outdoor activities. A TourRadar traveler noted: "We went in July and had perfect weather for trekking although nights were cold at high altitude camps like Soraypampa at 3900m." For coastal adventures in Paracas December through March offers warmer temperatures that suit activities like sandboarding in Huacachina.
What are the most thrilling adventure activities included in Peru tours?
Peru's diverse landscapes host a range of high-energy activities. The Cusco region offers mountain biking descents from Abra Malaga Pass at 4316m to the jungle white-water rafting on the Urubamba River's class III-IV rapids and zip-lining on South America's highest canopy circuit. Around Iquitos in the Amazon visitors can do canopy walks night jungle treks and wildlife spotting. A TourRadar traveler shared: "The combination of all the amazing activities like biking zipline water rafting were planned quite well. I had one of the best times of my life" about their Inca Jungle Trek.
What fitness level is required for Peru adventure tours?
The physical demands vary based on your chosen activities. Multi-day treks like the Inca Jungle Trail need moderate to high fitness with 4-6 hours of daily hiking at elevation plus biking and zip-lining. For a lighter option the Amazon Planet Lodge features 2-3 hour jungle walks. A TourRadar traveler noted: "The Salkantay trek was challenging but manageable - our guide Herlin adjusted the pace for different fitness levels while keeping the group together." Most tours suggest participants should be comfortable walking 5-7 hours at altitude.
What type of accommodation can I expect on Peru adventure tours?
Your lodging will range from hotels to camping sites depending on the tour. Cusco stays include properties like Golden Sunrise Machupicchu Hotel while Amazon adventures feature eco-lodges such as Amazon Planet Lodge with private bungalows. Trek accommodations mean quality tents at locations like Soraypampa camp near Salkantay Mountain. According to a TourRadar traveler: "The Amazon Planet Lodge exceeded expectations with clean comfortable rooms and amazing jungle views. The camping gear provided on our Salkantay trek was also high quality."
What wildlife might I encounter on Peru Adventure tours?
The Puerto Maldonado Amazon region is home to howler monkeys sloths toucans and caimans. Tambopata Reserve offers chances to view giant river otters and macaws. Mountain trek routes may reveal Andean condors especially at Cruz del Condor in Colca Canyon. One TourRadar traveler shared: "During our stay at Amazon Planet Lodge we saw amazing wildlife including toucans monkeys and even a sloth right from our bungalow balcony."
How does transportation work on Peru Adventure tours?
Transport methods match the terrain and activity. Sacred Valley tours use private buses between trek points while Amazon excursions rely on boat transfers on the Madre de Dios River. Companies like Inkayni Peru Tours handle all transfers from Cusco with tourist buses for longer routes and train returns from Machu Picchu. A TourRadar traveler confirmed: "The transportation was well organized - from private vans to boats in the Amazon everything ran smoothly and was comfortable."
