What people love about touring Australia solo
- Best of Australia
I had an amazing trip, though if I can give a few bits of criticism: some days felt quite rushed. For example in Airlie Beach, we only had 1 day, which was taken up completely by the planned activity. We had no time to see Airlie itself. Same in Byron, if you wanted to do 2 activities, there was no time left to see the town itself. Visiting the port douglas markets, we were given 2 hours but since it was very busy there, the waiting queues for different stands were too long to be able to see everything in those 2 hours. Most places we stayed we did have enough time. Linda was an amazing driver and both her and Imy knew a lot about australian history and nature. They were very friendly and helpful. The things we see on the tour are spectacular and we were lucky to have a lovely group.
- 7 Day Perth to Exmouth Explorer Loop
Jason was a very good tour guide. Enjoyed the Western Australia very much in this trip. Highly recommended for young people.
- The Great Ocean Road Melbourne - Adelaide 4 day 3 night Tour
We have actually not taken this tour yet but wanted to comment on the great service we have received from this company. When we first wanted to book this tour the dates were not available yet so we contacted the company by email and within a day they had the dates we wanted open on their website. Unfortunately due to Covid we had to cancel the tour. Not even 24 hours later we had our refund credit on our credit card. The service we have received from this company is incredible and you can bet that we will rebook this trip as soon as the travel restrictions are removed.
What our customers ask about Australia Tours for Solo Travelers
How safe is it to travel solo in Australia with a tour group?
Australia has a strong safety record for solo travelers thanks to strict tour industry rules and local guide support. On tours like the Northern Territory Escape, guides stay with groups during all activities and remain available around the clock while guests rest at hotels like Aurora in Alice Springs.
What kind of accommodation can I expect as a solo traveler in Australia?
Solo travelers stay in quality hotels across major Australian cities. In Sydney, the Sofitel Wentworth puts guests steps from main attractions, while other stops include Crowne Plaza and Hilton properties, each offering modern rooms with standard amenities like WiFi and air conditioning.
What unique experiences can I expect on a solo tour of Australia?
Tours blend nature and culture across Australia's varied landscapes. The Daintree & Cape Tribulation Adventure takes travelers through the world's oldest rainforest (135 million years), includes turtle spotting at Mason's Swimming Hole, and features time with First Nations guides who share their cultural knowledge. In South Australia, tours stop at Clare Valley's wineries for tastings.
What's included in terms of meals when traveling solo?
The Contrasts of Australia tour provides 8 breakfasts and 1 lunch, plus group dinners including a local specialty dinner and end-of-tour celebration. This mix lets travelers eat with their group while also trying restaurants on their own.
How do shared room arrangements work for solo travelers in Australia?
Tours typically pair solo travelers with someone of the same gender in shared rooms. The Intrepid Red Centre Explorer uses hotels with this setup, while some stops like RAC Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort give travelers a choice between shared or private rooms.
What's the typical group composition on Australian tours?
Solo travelers make up a big part of many Australian tours. The Brisbane to Cairns route shows this clearly - 80% of bookings come from people traveling alone.
